Recap
Jane waits up for Amanda who tells her she is leaving Erinsborough in the morning.
At the Ramsays:
Charlene waits up for Scott who returns home with a noisy Henry. She snaps that Scott promised her to be home early. They explain about Jane's mum but this makes her more angry - "While I've been here worried sick about you you've been whooping it up with Jane's mum?" (Hardly!) She yells that Scott could have rung her and Henry makes a hasty retreat. Scott goes through to the kitchen to check out the fridge and tells Charlene she's his wife, not his mother. He grabs her hand and tells her her ring is on her finger, not through his nose. She replies that he's getting right up her nose. Henry comes out and tells the pair of them to shut up but Scott insists they've sorted everything out and drags a very grumpy Charlene off to bed.
At the Clarkes:
Daphne is laughing at how Des has got into every single photo of Jamie. Mike comes home and tells them he has to make his own short video for Uni. Daph suggests using Des - he loves being in front of the camera. Des reminds Daphne that they have something to ask Mike and they formally request that he be Jamie's Godfather. He is thrilled.
At the Ramsays:
Scott has got up for a midnight feast. He walks to the table and bumps into Charlene who tearfully tells him she was too restless to sleep. He admits he was thoughtless for not calling her but doesn't think it was fair that she wanted to kick him out to talk to Jane, then came down on him like a ton of bricks for helping Jane's mum. She apologises and he pulls her onto his knee for a cuddle. She speculates that they're hardly a perfect married couple and he smiles and tells her they'll get there, then kisses her. Henry kindly switches the light on and breaks them up, before scampering off back to bed. Scott - "It's bad enough having to argue in public but making up with an audience is the pits!"
At Mrs Mangel's:
Jane is dressed up nicely to go and visit Nell later on. Amanda breezes in, causing Harold's allergy to flare up with her fur coat. Amanda - "But Harold, that is a mink!" Harold rushes off and Amanda calls him a funny little man. She tells Jane she is off to visit a travel agents, she has no choice but to leave today. Jane is gutted. Amanda says she shouldn't worry, as soon as she's settled she'll send for her. Jane points out that she can't leave her nan - she wishes Amanda felt the same way about her. "Tell me the truth mum, you don't really love me do you." Amanda protests that of course she loves her, she's her daughter for heavens sake, but she can hardly recognise her because she's changed so much. Jane begs her to stay longer and she relents, insisting that it can't be for too long though.
At the office:
Gail is stressing about a Japanese tour party arriving that day. Jane asks if she can have a little extra time at dinner with them being so busy and Paul assures her that Gail's just trying to be business woman of the year.
Outside the coffee shop:
Scott is walking Charlene to work and she winds him up by asking lots of questions about when he'll be home. He assures her that he'll ring if he's going to be late and rushes off with his skateboard. Harold comes out in a fluster, warning Charlene they are in for a buffer day (I think that's what he says...) then rushes back inside muttering that he's thinking of doing something with mung beans. Charlene looks after him in horror, until he grabs her arm and drags her inside too.
In the office:
Paul is playing with one of those toys from the 80s where you have to tip a plastic disk filled with water around to drop sweets into a candy jar. I want one. Probably cost a fortune now, even though we all threw them away twenty years ago. Gail is pacing the office spieling out ideas for increasing profits for Lassiters by serving up every Australian cliché under the sun (Peach melba, pavlova, water buffalo...) Paul loves the idea and tells her to fax it straight through to Rosemary, making sure she takes the credit.
Outside the coffee shop:
Daphne pushes Jamie up in his pram and Harold fusses over him then goes to get Daphne a drink. Henry wanders over with his arms full of gardening gear but is knocked off his feet by a Japanese tourist who, not that Neighbours is being at all stereotypical you understand, is taking pictures of everything that moves and doesn't move. Harold comes out and Henry asks how things are going, living with Amanda. Harold insists they are merely co-tenants sharing a house. Henry laughs "Good luck tiger" and growls, before hustling off back to work. Daphne laughs a lot, then tells Harold she needs to talk to him about Eileen. She explains how down Eileen is at the moment but Harold won't be won over.
At the office:
Jane asks Paul if she can leave for lunch now - she's having lunch with her mother. Paul says that's fine and he's pleased they're getting on better. Paul tells Gail Rosemary loved her ideas for the promotional ideas - and even better, she wants them to make a promotional video to go with it. He wants Gail to do it.
Outside the coffee shop:
Daphne is trying to talk Charlene into letting Eileen come back to work. She isn't thrilled but reluctantly agrees for Daphne's sake. Mike drags her back inside because the veggies are burning, leaving Daphne free to see Des carrying Amanda's shopping over the bridge. Very neighbourly. When he comes over she jealously asks who that was. He tells her it was Jane's mum.
DAPHNE: She certainly dresses to kill.
DES: Mm. (Straightens his tie) I'm still alive though.
Inside:
Harold gets Mike to serve Jane and Amanda because he can't go near her fur coat. Jane asks Amanda if she's still staying around and she assures her she is - she's even bought her a present. Jane is delighted and opens the bag to find a gorgeous spotty blue dress with huge white collar. As Amanda goes to order Jane calls Charlene over and shows her the dress. Charlene is shocked and asks where she got that? (Pot, kettle, black situation here. Charlene is dressed in skin tight blue jeans, massive turquoise shirt and black, green and yellow geometrically printed baggy cardigan) She tells Jane she wouldn't be seen dead in the dress and Jane worries about what she should do - her mother wants her to wear the dress out that night.
At the Clarkes:
Gail wonders if Mike would be interested in making the Lassiters promo video. He is really keen to help but Daphne doesn't know that Harold could spare him at the coffee shop. He is sure they could fit it around work so she reluctantly agrees.
At Mrs Mangel's:
Jane is delaying changing for dinner but Amanda is offended - she thought Jane would be dying to try on her new outfit. She huffs out of the room using a bucket of emotional blackmail as she tells Jane she intends to look her best if she's taking her little girl out to dinner.
In Jane's room:
Jane looks at a picture of herself as daggy Jane, then wipes off all her make-up, takes off her jewellery and transforms herself back into Plain Jane.
