Jeremy returns to his hotel room to find Gail there!
Jeremy's hotel room
Gail has come to talk to Jeremy. He is sceptical and says it's very late, but she insists she just wants to talk.
GAIL: I want you out of Erinsborough. It's my home, and you're not welcome.
JEREMY: I see. My beautiful ex- wife turns up in the middle of the night to run me out of time.
GAIL: I'm happy here. Never happier since I divorced you. And I don't want you mucking it up for me.
Jeremy insists that he hasn't come to cause trouble for Gail and says he'll compromise - if she lets Rob work on Number 13 he won't interfere in her life. Gail rolls her eyes. Jeremy suggests a drink for old times' sake.
Daphne and Mike are up late - Mike has just come in from a film night. They talk about Jane. Mike doesn't think his friends like Jane much - she never says a word when they start talking about philosophy. Daphne doesn't think Mike's new friends sound very nice.
DAPHNE: Mike. Don't forget your friends, will you.
MIKE: Of course I won't. But the whole world doesn't revolve around Ramsay Street.
DAPHNE: And the whole world doesn't revolve around Uni either. I'm all for you broadening your horizons. But it's nice to have friends to fall back on when things aren't going too well. Friends like Scott, Charlene and Jane. And Des and me. Goodnight.
Jeremy's hotel room
Jeremy and Gail are having a drink. Jeremy says that their paths don't need to cross, but Gail says that's not very likely with Rob working on the car. Gail gets up to leave.
JEREMY: You still love me, don't you, Gail?
He grabs her and forcibly kisses her. She slaps him.
GAIL: You haven't changed either. You're still the same self- centred, egotistical womaniser I married!
JEREMY: You still love me.
She stalks out. As she shuts the door behind her, Mrs Mangel comes along and sees her, looking knowingly at Gail's retreating form.
The Office, the following morning
Helen comes to see Paul - she wonders how Gail is today, but Paul hasn't seen her yet. Mrs Mangel comes in and Paul thanks her for taking on the night shift last night. She tells him that she has "observed a staff member leaving the room of a guest". Then she tells him that the "staff member" was Gail.
Gail and Rob are moving their stuff in and Des comes over to welcome them. Then, Mrs Mangel comes over. She tells Gail that she saw her leaving a guest's room last night. She stirs Gail further, saying she's told Paul and that Ramsay Street is a respectable place!
When she's gone, Rob tells Gail she shouldn't get involved with Jeremy again. She says she hasn't - she asked him to leave Erinsborough.
ROB: Don't get mixed up with him again. For your own sake.
Des, Daphne and Mike are having breakfast. Mike asks Des to borrow some money to buy clothes and Daphne is not pleased. She says his clothes are fine and he shouldn't worry about what his new friends think of them. Mike asks Des for a bank loan(!) Des says he can't give him a loan, but there's always Mike's trust fund - he can give him $200 out of the $10,000. Mike thinks about it, but then says he doesn't want to use his father's money - he promised his mother.
Rob and Gail are still moving in when Paul arrives. Gail talks to him about Mrs Mangel and the business at the hotel last night. She explains that she was just talking to Jeremy - Mrs Mangel was just making trouble. Paul advises her not to visit the hotel late anyway. Paul is concerned about Gail - he hopes she knows what she's doing with Jeremy.
Gail pops in for tea with Helen. They talk about Mrs Mangel's troublemaking and Helen says Mrs Mangel is an old gossip. Gail says her relationship with Jeremy is a very long story.
Mike tells Des that he wants to take money out of his trust fund after all. He's decided he wants to get a car! Daphne berates him, saying the money is for Mike's future - his friends might be rich, but Mike isn't. She doesn't like what his new friends are turning him into.
Gail is telling Helen about her relationship with Jeremy. He lost interest in her quickly and had several affairs. Finally Gail told him it was over, but Jeremy's ego is so big that he never accepted that. She tells Helen about the kiss last night, and admits that she does still love Jeremy. She knows it's ridiculous, but she can't help it.
GAIL: Oh Helen, what am I going to do?
Outside the Coffee Shop
Des comes to see Daphne. Mike hasn't turned up for the afternoon shop and he hasn't phoned either. Daphne is exhausted. Des says he'll cover for her and sends her home.
Gail and Helen are carrying in the last of Gail's stuff to No.22. Helen suggests packing the men off to the pub while Helen helps Gail to arrange the furniture. Helen tells Gail about her falling in love with Rosemary's boyfriend - so she understands about not being able to shut out emotion. She advises Gail to be strong, and avoid Jeremy as best she can.
Daphne is relaxing on the sofa when Mike comes in. She rants at him and says he'll have to go and relieve Des. Mike says he's going off with his friend Cassandra instead! Daphne rants more so Mike throws his job in completely and storms out. When he's gone, Daphne collapses on the sofa.
