Ruth takes Lucy some ice-cream. As Lucy looKs down she starts to see the bowl come into focus. She jumps up and drops the bowl on the floor…she calls for Ruth and Jim. But Ruth misunderstands why she is distressed and tells her not to worry that accidents like this will happen until she gets her sight back. Lucy asks if she promises to stay until she gets her sight back. Ruth promises, a slow smile plays around Lucy's lips as she begins to start to pretend that she can't see so that Ruth will stay.

Jim explains that Scott must understand that what happened could have been much more serious. Jim apologises if he had been hard on Scott. Scott replies that it hasn't done much for his exams. Jim thinks that Scott has studied hard all year there is no reason why he can't do well in Maths. Scott whinges that he has to be kidding - he can't even remember the basic formulas and without that he is a “goner”.

Ray agrees, Shane comments that when he was a kid his parents used to argue over him and his sister all the time…he never realised how tough it was on parents. Ray replies that he thinks Madge is a great woman but he didn't like being “tarred with the same brush” as Madge's ex-husband Fred. Ray thinks Madge has done a great job of standing on her own two feet.
Shane tells Ray that Madge is pretty worried….Paul has now decided to sell Madge's house and has given Madge first refusal on it. Ray asks if Madge can afford to pay…Shane replies “what do you reckon?” Ray replies that he would like to help out but he doesn't suppose she would let him help. Shane agrees it is unlikely.
Jim carries Lucy, who has her new jewellery box into the living room and asks if she would be OK on her own for a while, while he goes and helps Ruth in the kitchen. Lucy holds up her new jewellery to the light and is almost caught by Ruth. Lucy continues to pretend that she can't see, and says she can't find her favourite jewel. Ruth finds it for her and tells her soon she will be able to see it for herself. Lucy sadly says that Ruth will then go away.
Scott rushes in looKing for his calculator….Lucy can see it quite plainly on the top of the TV. Jim, Ruth and Scott all rush around looKing for his calculator. Scott whinges that if he doesn't find it he can forget about the maths exam. Lucy suggests that maybe it is on the TV….Scott looKs quickly but can't find it. As he walks away Lucy insists it is on the TV under the magazines. It finally dawns on Scott that Lucy can see….he asks he how long she has been able to see! He questions her about how worried everyone is. Lucy defends herself by saying that Ruth said she would go as soon as she could see. Scott gently persuades Lucy that Ruth can't stay forever. They will find out sooner or later that she can see. Scott will give her until the end of his exam and if Lucy hasn't told them by then he will.
Madge is trying to clean up and get Charlene off to school while Shane works on an engine part on the kitchen table. Madge moans at Shane and he takes the part out of the house. Madge moans about the mess in the house, Charlene says she will clean up later. Charlene goes on to say that it isn't just the mess you are worried about buying the house. Madge agrees that she doesn't know how they are going to raise the money. Charlene says that the exams are nearly over and then she can get the mechanics apprenticeship and with both of them working there will be no problems. Madge says that is all very well but Paul wants an answer by the beginning of next week. But she has an appointment with the building society this afternoon maybe he will be more helpful.

Shane comes off the phone and tells Madge that he has found the bike part…it is a long way to get it but if it is in good condition it will be worth it. Madge is sitting at the kitchen table trying to do the figure work for the building society; she needs to show them how she stands which isn't very good. Shane suggests that maybe they should go with a joint loan, using his income as well. He says it will be tight but he will meet Madge outside the building society. Madge isn't sure that either of their employment records are that good but thinks it is worth a try.
Lucy asks Ruth to come and join her on the couch and asks her if she caught the plane back now would she make it in time for Diane's birthday. Ruth says yes she would but that Lucy needs her so she will stay, she loves her and that is what is important. Lucy replies that Ruth won't love her when she knows what she has done. Ruth hugs her and then says she will what is the problem. Lucy comments on the colour of her skirt it is her favourite one she is wearing….the maroon one. And that she can see, it happened yesterday and she knew she should tell but she wanted Ruth to stay.
Later, Ruth brings Lucy some milk and tells her to dry her eyes. Lucy wants to know why she is being so nice to her after all the horrible things she ahs done and all the lies she has told. Ruth admits that it wasn't that long ago that she has done something similar; she had lied to Jim and said she didn't have any money so she could stay with them. Lucy replies that what she did was worse. Ruth doesn't think so Lucy did it because she loves someone and wanted to be with them. Lucy says that it was still wrong and Ruth agrees. Lucy worried what Jim will say…”He is going to kill me.” Ruth doesn't think so he is going to be so happy that she can see again. Ruth says that there is no need to tell Jim the whole truth that she thinks they have both learnt their lessons. First she will ring Jim and tell him the good news and then ring the airline and see if there is a seat on the plane.
Nicky tries to reassure Scott that he knows all the formula for the exam, but Scott whinges that when he gets into the exam his mind will go blank. Nicky rolls her eyes and walks over to Charlene. Charlene asks how Scott is and Nicky tells her that he is going to blow the exam the way he is going. Charlene wonders if she should go and talk to him. Nicky agrees because she thinks that although Scott acts like he wants nothing more to do with Charlene that's all it is – a big act. Charlene goes over to Scott and asks if they can be friends but Scott tries to brush her off by telling her that he needs all the time to study. Charlene apologises but Scott refuses to accept it and asks her where she wants to start to talk – with Susan and Sam, her drinking or a nice friendly chat with Warren? Scott admits he is sick of being used and wants her to leave him alone. Charlene… “OK I will. I'm sick and tired of you whinging like a little baby!” (Hallelujah!!! About time someone told him!).
Sue sees her chance to stir things up and wanders over to Scott and asks him what the lover's tiff was about. Scott tells her to stay out of it. She accuses him of being too good for the rest of them and taunts him that they will see about that after the exam.
Jane rushes out of her house just as Shane gets on his motorbike. She is complaining about how late she is going to be for the exam. Shane offers her a lift on his motorbike, after a moment's hesitation she jumps on the back.
Lucy is looKing at the jewellery in her music box as Jim comes in and suggests that now that Ruth is going home that maybe she should give them back to Ruth. Lucy insists that Ruth said she could keep it, she continues that she is going to miss Ruth. Jim agrees that they are all going to miss her but she did keep her promise and did stay until her sight returned. He then goes on to say what did she first see. Lucy is rather vague and says it was rather blurry. Changing the subject she asks Jim if he could ask Ruth to come back and stay. Jim feels that this would not be fair to Ruth or her family. Lucy wishes that Jim loved her as much as she does. Jim looKs uncomfortable.
Ruth appears with suitcases and Jim says that she should have called him, but she insists that the cases aren't very heavy and that she can easily cope with them at the airport. Jim insists on driving her there. Lucy goes off to get something from her room.
Jim tells Ruth that they will all miss her….he can't believe that they will never see her again. Ruth reminds him that they have been through it all before and there is no future for them. He gives her a hug as she is close to tears. She tells him that she has made a good friend and learnt to love his family and that she will always treasure that.
Lucy returns with the booK “The Little Prince” and tells Ruth she wants her to have it. Ruth feels that it is Lucy's favourite story. Lucy wants Ruth to have it so she will never forget her. Ruth hugs her as she struggles to hold back the tears.
Nicky and Charlene are talking about Jane as she arrives on the back of Shane's motorbike. Jane thanks Shane for the ride and says how much she enjoyed it. Shane replies he is always willing to help a lady. Charlene jokes that Shane never gives her a ride to school. Shane replies that is because you are no lady!
Charlene and Jane go off to find Mike who is returning a booK to the library. Scott arrives and Nicky asks where he is going. He whinges that he is going to get a drink. Nicky says he better hurry otherwise he will be locked out of the exam. Scott replies that it would be just as well. Nicky then accuses Scott of not going into the exam, she knows that he is up to something and isn't going to back off until she finds out. Scott feels that it is better that she doesn't know. Scott reluctantly tells her that the only way he is going to pass the exam is if he takes the answers in with him. Nicky is shocked that he is going to cheat, she feels that there is no way he is going to be able to smuggle a booK into the exam. He says he isn't going to, he is going to take the formulas on his wrist. Scott insists it isn't really cheating it is just a safety measure, she said herself that he knew the formulas. Nicky insists that the supervisor won't think so he catches him. Nicky pleads with Scott. Unknown to both of them the whole conversation has been overheard by Sue who smiles knowingly.
