Jane finds Nikki in Mike's arms.
Jane nearly walks out, but Mike calls her back saying that Nikki has just come back to Erinsborough.
When Nikki has gone Mike says that it's not what Jane thinks - he was just comforting Nikki about her mum. Jane isn't convinced though as Nikki is an old girlfriend, so she walks off.
Paul and Susan are chatting about Sam - Paul says Sam probably thinks Clive is his father by now. Susan says she couldn't have picked a better friend.
Madge comes in and gives Paul the books for the pub. He tells her off for upsetting Mrs Meuler. Apparently she's informed Paul that Madge is rude and aggressive! Madge protests that Mrs Meuler has gone out of her way to provoke her. Paul maintains that Mrs Meuler is the best housekeeper he's ever had and tells Madge to cool it or she'll find herself out of a job.
Helen and Laura are chatting. Laura says that she and Nikki are getting on really well now, except that Nikki won't leave her for a minute. She doesn't think it's healthy for a teenager. Helen offers to talk to Nikki on Laura's behalf.
Nikki comes in dejectedly and says that Mike has got another girlfriend. Laura says that once Nikki goes to America on the student exchange program she'll be beating boys off with a stick! Nikki says she's not going - she doesn't want to leave Laura because she's ill.
Jane comes back and apologises to Mike for not giving him a chance to explain. Mike says that Nikki needs him as a shoulder to cry on for a couple of weeks. Jane thinks that Mike wants to get back with Nikki and rather unreasonably storms out.
Madge and Ray are back from the races having had a fantastic time. When Madge has gone to take her shoes off, Shane congratulates Ray on making Madge happy. He says he should ask Madge out.
Madge is in the kitchen now, so Ray goes across and asks her to go out to dinner with him tonight. But Madge says she was planning on a quiet evening at home tonight. Ray departs for the living room dejectedly.
Shane tackles Madge in the kitchen and she says she doesn't want to appear too eager(!) Shane says she should just get on with it.
Ray gets up to go and Madge invites him to have dinner at the house tonight.
Helen tells Nikki that Laura is coping very well with her MS, but Nikki says that Laura has really bad days sometimes.
Mike comes in and he and Nikki go into the living room. Mike apologises for what happened in the Coffee Shop with Jane and invites Nikki to go to the pictures tonight. Nikki doesn't think Jane will understand, but Mike says she won't mind (Yeah, right!!) Nikki hugs Mike.
Paul is leaving early to enjoy the rest of Saturday. He asks Susan what she's going to do for the rest of the day and she says she has a pile of baby clothes to wash. Paul says Susan needs time to herself and asks her to go out to dinner with him. But Susan says she can't be too presumptuous asking Clive to babysit, and she's away from Sam too long as it is. Finally Paul wears her down and she agrees. They agree to meet around 7pm.
Mike and Nikki are back from the movies. Nikki tells Mike that she can't leave Laura to go the States - she has to be there if Laura needs her. Mike says he could talk to Clive, but Nikki says she's spoken to the doctor already and she knows Laura is only going to get worse. She cries in Mike's arms again.
Madge is feeling hungover this morning - Ray kept topping up her wineglass! She's ashamed that the kitchen is messy.
There's a knock at the door (at 8am on a SUnday morning!) and Shane answers it to Mrs Mangel. She looks disdainfully at the mess and asks Madge for Trevor Burns' phone number because she needs him for some plumbing work. Shane lets slip that Madge had dinner with Ray last night and Mrs Mangel says he has an unenviable reputation! - he's known as a gambler, a drunkard and a womaniser! Mrs Mangel apparently knows his ex-wife.
MADGE: You seem to be very familiar with our front door, Mrs Mangel. Perhaps you'd like to close it on your way out!
Mrs Mangel stalks off in great offence.
Paul comes in and Susan tells him that she really enjoyed dinner last night. Mrs Meuler comes in and Paul shows her into his office.
Paul says he'd like to hear her side of the story over what happened with the raggedy towels with Madge. Mrs Meuler says there's no friction with the staff and Paul accepts this. Paul says he appreciates all Mrs Meuler is doing for Lassiters, but she should try to get on with Madge. It seems she's in constant contact with Jack Lassiter, so Paul is trying to keep her sweet!
When Mrs Meuler has gone, he tells Susan that he still wants to purchase Lassiters when Jack gets back.
Laura, Helen and Nikki are having breakfast. Nikki says that she's getting on very well with Mike, but Laura reminds her that they're only in Erinsborough for a short time. Nikki insists that she's not going on the exchange programme. Just then Laura drops her teacup and Nikki fusses over her. Laura storms off saying she's not a baby.
Mike is telling Jane that Nikki is just a friend and she needs all the help she can get at the moment. Mrs Mangel is earwigging and tells her to go inside because Mike has obviously been using her!
JANE: I don't need your helpful hints!
When Jane has gone, Mrs Mangel tells Mike that he's broken Jane's heart.
MIKE: At least she's got one!
Ray is having an orange juice at the bar when Mrs Meuler comes in to talk to Madge. Mrs Meuler says that Madge has too many airs and graces for a barwoman and she shouldn't be complaining to Paul about her! She says that the bar is filthy and Madge takes great offence.
MADGE: You obviously regard me as some kind of inferior and it's going to stop!
PAUL: You're damn right it is!
MRS MEULER: Now you can see what I'm putting up with. The woman's a raving lunatic!
Paul orders Madge to follow him to his office.
MRS MEULER: He's going to fire her! And good riddance too!
