Ramsay Street
Scott and Lucy are coming home having been taunted at school about their sister-in-law being a killer. Just then two kids come up and have a go at Scott. They push him against a fence and a fight breaks out between them and Scott. Lucy joins in, hitting the boys with her school bag!
Just then Jim goes past in his car and rushes out to break up the fight. He sends the boys away and tells Lucy and Scott that he'll see them at home.
SCOTT: You didn't have to hit me as well, Lucy.
LUCY: Sorry, Scott.
SCOTT: Thanks, anyway.
Robinsons
Scott and Lucy come in and Helen wants to know what they've been up to. Lucy says they've been in a fight because the boys said Terry was a killer.
Jim comes in and Lucy insists that Paul is her brother and she has to stick up for him. Jim and Helen tell them just to laugh, or ignore it, but Scott and Lucy say it's not that easy.
In the kitchen, Jim wonders if he should keep Scott and Lucy home for a while until things blow over, but Helen doesn't think it's a good idea. Jim is worried about Paul, and also about the family finances - there's nothing that can be done, except sell the house. Jim says all he can do is try to get another mortgage. Helen tells Jim to inform Scott and Lucy - it can't wait anymore.
They call Scott and Lucy in and Helen gently explains the Douglas Blake was a conman. Jim tells them about how he borrowed money from the firm to help Helen to buy the cottage. Now they can't pay it back.
SCOTT:(shocked) How could he do this to you?
Coffee Shop
Daphne and Des are getting ready to open the shop. Max comes in and tells them he's missing Terry. Daphne advises Max not to bother with her anymore - Terry tried to frame her for murder. She says that it's really Paul that will need their support. Max asks Des how long he's going to help out at the coffee shop and he gets all touchy and says he likes making hamburgers(!)
Robinsons
Scott is offering to get a full-time job to help out, but Jim won't hear of it. Helen says that they'll just have to cut down a bit - like Lucy's dancing classes. Lucy is upset - all the kids go to dancing classes. She starts shouting and says she'll pay for them herself.
JIM: Where do you think you're going?
LUCY: To get a job!
Max comes round to see how Jim and Helen are. He tells Scott that Daphne wants his help down at the Coffee Shop.
Outside the Robinsons
Scott tells Lucy she should be ashamed of herself for being horrible to Jim and Helen. Lucy insists she's going to get a job.
Coffee Shop
The Coffee Shop is full when Helen arrives. Scott tells Des and Daphne that they might lose their house - Jim has to pay back the money to the firm in a couple of weeks. Des gets a thoughtful look on his face and says he's going off to see Jim for a while.
Daphne offers Scott a job at nights, looking after the Coffee Shop. He is delighted - the Robinsons need every cent they can get.
Shops
Lucy sees an ad for a paper boy job.
Hospital
Shane has come to see Paul who is still in an awful mood. Shane says he didn't mess round with Terry and Paul says he believes him.
PAUL: Charles and Barbara taught me a lot. There's two types of people in this world, there's winners and losers. I've been losing for a long time.
Paul says as soon as he gets out of hospital, he's going to quit his job and look for opportunities. He reckons that Charles Durham had everything and that's how he wants to be. Shane protests that Paul is wrong - he has so much more in his life than Charles.
PAUL: From now on, no-one's ever going to hurt me or walk on me again. I'm going to get in first.
Robinsons
Helen tells Jim she's going to meet the lady at the gallery tomorrow, with a view to selling her paintings.
Des comes in and says he's been thinking about Jim's financial problems. Des suggests he takes out a second mortgage to pay his first loan back to the company. Des says Jim has a good credit rating, and he'll see if he can swing it with bank. Jim is pleased.
Coffee Shop
Daphne and Scott are busy at the shop. A kid is blowing a whistle and Scott goes over to ask him to stop. The kid is a paper boy wearing a cap - it's Lucy in her new job!
Ramsays
Danny comes in from work and then Shane comes in from seeing Paul. He tells Max and Danny that Paul doesn't seem very good. Max tells Shane and Danny that he's going out to a job tonight and goes out whistling. It's obvious that he's lying - he's going on a date with Kate!
Ramsay Drive
Max whips off his plumbing overalls and chucks them in the back of the van - he has good clothes on underneath! He is spraying himself with aftershave when Lucy comes up and cons him into taking a daily paper! Some women walk by and see Max straightening his trousers in shock(!)
Robinsons
Jim opens the door to Lucy in her paperboy get-up. She is delighted with her new job.
Coffee Shop
Scott isn't pleased that his French teacher Miss Drew (Kate) has come in. He goes over to serve her but she is waiting for someone to arrive. Just then Max arrives and sits down with her. Daphne and Scott are stunned! Max isn't pleased to see Scott there.
Ramsays
Danny is thinking about getting a second job at night - singing. Shane laughs. They're sick of cooking, so decide to go down to the Coffee Shop.
Coffee Shop
Max and Kate are getting on well. Scott says he doesn't know what Max sees in Kate - she's as bossy as hell(!)
They intercept Shane and Danny at the door and Daphne tries to bustle them out. But Danny asks Daphne for job doing live entertainment on the weekend. Daphne agrees.
Scott escorts Danny to a table, shielding him from a view of the room. Shane tells Daphne about the offer of housing with his job, and he wants her to move in with him. She looks shocked and says she'll think about it.
Danny tells Scott off for hovering over him. It's too late anyway - Shane has spotted Max and Kate. Danny goes straight over, despite Scott's protests. He hides round a corner and listens in to their conversation.
KATE: There's no such thing as family secrets. The kids always know.
MAX: He don't know this one. See, I'm not really Danny's father.
Danny is shocked to the core.
