Jim tells Helen that he admires and respects his mother - but doesn't love her.
George is hit by a car.
Julie tells Des that she saw Eileen in the restaurant and George had stood her up. Des tells Julie that she hasn't heard the full story and tells her off for gossiping.
Des gets a call that George is in the hospital.
George is delirious in hospital shouting Eileen's name. Eventually he comes to and a nurse explains that he's in hospital.
Eileen is hoovering and ranting to Daphne that George stood her up. Daphne says that Eileen was purposely late so it wasn't surprising George has gone.
Just then, Des comes in and tells Eileen that George is in hospital.
Des, Eileen and Daphne are in the waiting room. Eileen is regretting her actions. Daphne tries to calm her down saying she can't blame herself for the accident. Eileen thanks Daphne and says she is a very nice and understanding person (bit of a turn-around for Eileen!) Eileen starts berating herself for being selfish and hopes that George will give her another chance. Daphne says that Eileen will just have to learn to be a bit more flexible, that's all.
Danny is reading on the sofa when Max comes in. Danny shows Max a return letter from his French teacher. In the letter, she calls Max names in French - he is not amused.
Max tells Danny that a bloke is ringing about a big job tonight. Danny promises to be there to answer the phone, as Max will be out.
George has got a broken toe, but nothing more. Des, Daphne and Eileen come in to see him. George explains about the skateboarder.
When Des and Daphne have gone, George and Eileen have a chat. Eileen apologises for being stubborn and pig-headed. George invites Eileen to go out with him again when he's up and about. Then he will take all four of them - Eileen, Des and Daphne to a nice restaurant. Eileen is very pleased.
Danny is hoovering when Shane comes in. Shane isn't in a very good mood and snaps at Danny. But after a bit of chat, Shane asks Danny to go and play squash. Danny doesn't want to because he has to take Max's phonecall at 5pm, but Shane assures him they'll be back by 5pm.
Des is back from the hospital and is telling Julie that George was hit by a skateboarder. She laughs a bit and he warns her to be tactful when George comes back to work.
Des and Julie talk about being stay-at-homers lately after Joan and Philip. They agree to go out to eat together tonight.
Eileen is very restless and has come round to see Daphne. Daphne is very tolerant of her (bless Daphne!) and sits her down on the sofa for a chat. Eileen says she is very lucky to have George, and she mustn't be too complacent. Daphne says that Eileen is just a bit out of practice!
Danny and Shane return from squash - it's just after 5pm. They start to argue over who's going to make dinner. Danny asks Shane to tell Max to stop badgering his French teacher. He reluctantly agrees.
Des sinks into a chair when he gets home. Eileen thanks Des for his help with George today. Daphne invites Eileen to stay for dinner, but Des is going out for dinner with Julie tonight. Eileen thinks this is a wonderful idea(!) Daphne laughs at the way Des is wriggling out of his diet!
Julie comes in at that moment and takes Des off.
Shane tells Danny that he's quite a good squash player. Max comes in and Danny tells him that he didn't get a phonecall from the bloke. Max is disappointed.
Max tells Shane that he has to do more of the chores around the house, to free Danny up to do his schoolwork. Shane isn't chuffed, but agrees.
Just then, the phone goes and Max answers it. It turns out that the bloke did ring at 5pm after all. He is very upset and says that Danny broke his promise and lied to him. He walks off.
