Recap
- Jim's mother (Bess) turns up.
- Shane is stroppy with Daphne for going out with Terry instead of him. Daphne insists they're just friends.
- Bess is apparently asleep on the sofa.
Robinsons
Scott tries to wake Bess up, but her head rolls. He goes to ring an ambulance, but just then Bess wakes up. She says it was just a dizzy spell. She takes a tablet from a bottle in her handbag.
Lucy comes in and jumps on "Nana Robinson". She starts babbling excitedly. Bess stumbles and accidentally hits Lucy with her flailing arm. Lucy runs off while Scott takes Bess off for a lie down in her room.
Charles' pad
Charles and his evil lady friend are talking about Terry. Apparently Terry is putting both of them in a dangerous position. The evil lady friend resolves to find out more about Terry. She and Charles have a pash (eurgh). Charles tells her that they have to get the tapes from Terry.
Robinsons
Scott tells Lucy that Bess was just having a dizzy spell. Lucy doesn't believe him and says that Nana doesn't love her.
Number 30
There's a knock at the door and Terry jumps, but it's just Jim with some more of Paul's stuff.
They chat about Bess and how free-spirited she is. Terry says she'd like a bit more excitement in her life, but Jim says the grass is always greener - they should be happy with what they do have.
Robinsons
Scott makes Lucy turn the TV down so they don't wake Bess. Just then Bess comes out though. When Jim comes in, Lucy tells him that Bess deliberately knocked her over. Scott explains it was nothing - Bess was having a dizzy spell.
Ramsay Street
Evil lady friend of Charles (ELFOC) gets out of a car with her dog. She sees Lucy and Basil and Lucy starts telling her about the row at home. ELFOC, hearing the name "Robinson", decides to befriend her, and they go off to walk their dogs together.
The Park
ELFOC and Lucy are chatting about the family. Lucy explains that Paul is away a lot, so ELFOC says she should befriend Terry to keep her company - and bring her to the park tomorrow! Lucy thinks it's a good idea, but Terry will be buying Helen's car tomorrow at lunchtime.
Robinsons
Lucy comes in and finds Bess sitting at the kitchen table. Bess asks Lucy to forgive her. Lucy is a bit hard on her and asks why Bess didn't reply to her thank you letter last Christmas. Bess apologises for neglecting her and they agree to write to each other in future. They hug and make up.
Charles' pad
ELFOC tells Charles that she met Paul's sister - and she gave her loads of information. She tells Charles that she knows where Terry is going to be tomorrow lunchtime.
Number 30
Bess has come to see Terry. The house is a tip - Terry tells Bess she's still sorting it out from the move, but really it's because Charles and ELFOC have ransacked the place looking for the tapes. They chat about women's rights and about working women. Bess says that Terry should always try to see the other person's point of view, no matter how she feels. Bess invites Terry to go to the cinema tonight.
Robinsons
Lucy and Jim are just heading off when Bess arrives. Bess gives Lucy a piece of lava in a jar and the name of the volcano where she found it, so she can show her teacher.
Bess tells Scott that she's feeling a lot better today. When everyone has headed off, she picks up the phone and rings a bloke called Edward. Apparently they're old acquaintances - she wants to talk to him about some financial matters. They agree to meet up at lunchtime.
Number 30
Terry is alone in the house tidying up when Charles rings her. Terry says she wants to be left alone. Charles says she knows that she's on her own, and he will hurt Lucy if necessary.
Robinsons
Lucy tells Bess that Helen is out with a man-friend. Julie doesn't look so pleased about it though - she's got a bee in her bonnet about the family sticking together. Bess tells Julie that Helen is old enough to decide her own life choices.
Number 30
Bess has come to pick Terry up to go to the cinema, and Scott is coming too. Terry tells them that she hates being by herself in the house, so she's glad to be going out.
Airport Locker Room
Paul is back from his flight. His colleague invites him to go for a drink with the boys, but Paul would rather go home to Terry. His mate mocks him a bit about Terry being a plumber and Paul gets very defensive, saying Terry will be giving up work now they're married.
Robinsons
Paul sneaks in and surprised Jim and Julie. He's looking for Terry, but she's out with Nana Robinson, much to Paul's surprise. Paul tells Jim he's really grateful for putting up the first three months' rent for Number 30 for them.
Coffee Shop
Terry and Bess are discussing the film, and also Bess's career as a war correspondent. They also chat about Grandpa Robinson - he died so soon after they were married. But life had to go on - although she never met anyone else. Bess tells Terry to make the most of every opportunity with Paul.
Number 30
Terry comes in and is surprised to find Paul there. They chat about Nana Robinson and Terry's job. Terry says that she's willing to give up work. Paul says has been making plans to provide for both of them. Terry says a marriage isn't a dictatorship. Paul takes offence and storms off to bed.
