Amy is sitting on the beach writing a Christmas card to Kyle, telling him she's back in the dating pool. Actually, she's just met another lying scumbag. She gives up and screws up the card.
Harold's Café exterior / Beach
Paul calls Amy and asks her how the Blue Mountains are. Amy struggles to lie and says they are mountainous. Paul asks to speak to Jimmy but Amy says he's not with her. Paul asks how come he can hear the sea and Amy hangs up on him.
A foam rocket ball lands next to Amy and a guy comes running over to get it, apologising.
AMY: That's OK. You're lucky it didn't cause any physical damage.
HUNTER: Yeah, lucky indeed. It would have left the earth a less beautiful place.
Hunter introduces himself and Amy says she is Leo… Leonie! Hunter invites her to come and hang with him and his mates which she accepts.

Hunter and Amy are walking along the beach getting to know each other by asking comparison questions. Fortunately they agree on the correct pronunciation of "etcetera". Hunter tells Amy he rents out paddle boards and teaches surfing. Amy lies that she is an English teacher and her auntie is the principal of the school. She says she needed to get away for a while as the last few weeks haven't been too fun.
HUNTER: Some guy screwed you over? [Amy nods] Ouch. You and me both. I mean it was a girl, me!
Hunter has to start work soon and offers Amy a private paddleboarding lesson on the house. He puts her arm around Amy and she says she's in. Hunter reveals he's actually late for work and needs to go now.

St. Kilda Beach
Amy practises her paddlebording on the beach and Hunter tells her she looks like a pro. Amy is ready to go in the water. Cue long paddleboarding montage scene. Leo arrives at the beach and calls out to Amy, causing her to gasp and fall off the board.

Amy is annoyed that Leo has followed her and Hunter into the café.
HUNTER: I still can't believe you're such good friends with similar names. It's hilarious.
LEO: Sorry, what?
HUNTER: Leo… Leonie… classic!
LEO: Right, right. Did she also tell you about her illustrious career as a… what was it again?
AMY: A teacher.
LEO: That's right. Mental blank.
HUNTER: Yeah, she mentioned how she was teaching up in Bondi before moving to her auntie's school in Melbourne.
LEO (thinking about Elly): Hmm, that's a familiar story.
Leo asks if she has told him about Jimmy, and Hunter asks if that's the guy she mentioned who broke her heart. Leo, clearly amused, rubs her arm and calls her Leonie. Amy confesses that she's really called Amy.
HUNTER: Are you even a teacher?
AMY: I am a teacher in a sense… um… I… I'm in between things at the moment and I'm teaching kids woodwork and a bit of pottery. It's like a community thing so it's more of a thing on the weekends, so…
HUNTER: So no English?
AMY: I mean I speak English to them! It's not in French or German or anything like that!
Leo enjoys watching Amy squirm.

Amy runs after Hunter, asking him to let her explain. He says he's so sick of being lied to by girls and walks off. Leo appears and Amy says she came here to get away from him. Leo says maybe this gives them a chance to talk and apologises for what happened. Amy tells him to stop apologising and Leo says whatever she wants, calling her Leonie. Amy manages a laugh but says she has to go.
Car / Robinson's Motel
Amy calls Paul on her mobile and asks if he thinks she's a bad person. Paul asks her if Leo's bet is still worrying her and Amy says maybe a little. Paul tells her she can bet on family and suggests she go and see her mum. Amy thanks him and they wish each other a merry Christmas. Leo watches as Amy drives off.
