Previously on Neighbours
- Karl humiliates himself in front of the YAHMILs (Young And Hot Men in Lycra) by bringing up 'Dr Pooper'
- Matty, the leader of the YAHMILs, invites Aaron to join their bike club, but not Karl
- Sadie inadvertently sees a secret on Vic's laptop, but he pleads with her not to tell Byron what she's read
- 'How is Vic making you uncomfortable?' Byron asks Sadie
- Mackenzie admits to a comatose Haz that she did tell Harlow she could never love him like she did Hendrix
- Mackenzie has a frosty encounter with Haz's sister Amira, who says she can take his recovery from here
- Haz wakes up from his coma, and asks Mackenzie if there's any chance they can be together again
- But Amira has different plans, and wants Haz to come home to Western Australia to be with his family
Erinsborough Hospital
Amira is chatting to Haz in his hospital room when Mackenzie turns up - with Byron, Sadie and Holly in tow. Amira begins to say it's not appropriate for them all to come in, but Haz overrules her, saying it's fine. Byron immediately runs into the room and throws himself on top of Haz for a hug! Sadie and Holly greet Haz too, but Holly also makes sure to give Amira a nice big scowl!
Sadie and Byron tell Haz about the time they smuggled Trevor into the hospital to see him while he was in a coma - and explain they've all been looking after Trevor in Haz's absence, as well as volunteering at the café to keep it afloat.
HAZ: I don't know what to say. Thank you. I thought everyone hated my guts.
SADIE: Hated? That is a very strong word, okay?
BYRON: It made a difference to find out that you were helping the police.
HOLLY: Hey, don't think it's all love and light, though. We're still hurt and angry about what you did.
BYRON: But we can chat about that once you're all better, hey?
Amira listens with interest.
Power Road
Karl pulls up on his bike to admire his Eirini Rising billboard, still free of any fresh graffiti. He takes a sip from his water flask, but almost chokes on it when he sees, in the far distance, one of the distinctively- clad YAHMILs emerging from some bushes, seemingly pulling up his shorts!
KARL (shouting): Hey! Hey!
But the YAHMIL leaps on his bike and rides away before Karl can get moving again. He appeals to the extras outside Grease Monkeys.
KARL: Did anybody see that? Did anybody recognise that guy?
No 32
Krista is fussing over Trevor when Byron and Sadie come in. They're pleased they got to see Haz, but moan that Amira ordered them out after two minutes.
KRISTA: Yeah, well, I heard from Mackenzie that she's a bit...
SADIE: Mean?
KRISTA: I was gonna say overprotective.
Vic appears and bids them all good morning. Sadie is instantly uncomfortable and moves away to start cooking, piquing Byron's suspicions. He only gets more concerned when he hears Vic talking to Krista.
VIC: Apologies again for our little incident earlier.
KRISTA (laughs): Yeah, it's okay.
BYRON: What incident? Did he do something?
VIC: Wait! I accidentally walked in on Krista when she was getting out of the shower. I promise, I didn't see much.
Krista clearly isn't concerned about what happened, but Byron is not impressed - and once Vic leaves the room, he apologises to Krista on his dad's behalf.
KRISTA: It's okay.
BYRON: And I promise he's not gonna stay forever.
KRISTA: It's okay!
Ramsay Street
Karl gets home from his bike ride to find Susan and Aaron chatting outside No 28, and rushes up to them excitedly.
KARL: You'll never guess what I just saw!
SUSAN: More free lemons?
KARL: The real public pooper. I didn't see his face - he was too far away. But get this - he's a YAHMIL.
SUSAN: Are you sure that's not just wishful thinking?
AARON: I get it, Karl. Those guys were pretty mean to you...
KARL: No. no - he was wearing a YAHMIL jersey! He came out of the bushes, pulling up his pants.
AARON: What?!
SUSAN: Well, that doesn't prove anything!
AARON: He could have been doing a number one in there!
SUSAN: Yeah. Although that's not legal either.
AARON: It's still far less offensive, though!
KARL: He wasn't doing a number one. Because after he left, I went into the bushes to where he'd been, and there it was. Hot off the press.
He shows them the photograph he's taken on his phone - though thankfully, viewers are spared the sight! Susan and Aaron both groan.
SUSAN: Oh, you're a weirdo, Karl!
But Karl is unrepentant, and chuckles to himself as he tells them he's going to track the pooper down!
Erinsborough Hospital
Haz tells Amira that he wasn't expecting everyone to be so nice to him after everything that's happened.
AMIRA: Your friends are obviously all good people, but... what if you hadn't been hurt? You know, would they have rallied around you then?
HAZ: Yeah, well, if I hadn't been hurt, you wouldn't be here either.
AMIRA: Yeah, but I've known the truth about you for years, okay? So I've just had so much more time to work through it and forgive you. It's the same with Mum and Dad. But these new friends, you know, they only just found out. And, like, that girl who gave me the stink- eye - what's her name?
HAZ: Holly.
AMIRA: Yeah. Like Holly said, it's not all love and light, okay? And maybe they'll never forgive you. So why stay here and deal with that?
HAZ: I don't want to run away again. And it's not just Mackenzie and my friends that are keeping me here. It's also my business. I'm so proud of it.
Amira admits she hasn't been to the café yet, so Haz encourages her to go and see it - then she'll understand, he says, why it's not so easy for him to leave Erinsborough.
Ramsay Street
Susan and Aaron are sitting on the lawn when Karl re- emerges with a plan of action - to infiltrate, befriend and question the YAHMILs.
KARL: And voilà - the real public pooper is flushed out.
SUSAN: How are you gonna do that?
AARON: Karl, those guys told you to your face they do not want you riding with them.
KARL: *I'm* not going to infiltrate. You are.
AARON: What?
KARL: They said you could join any time.
AARON: I dunno, Karl!
KARL: Oh, please. I need your help here. This pooper's dragged my reputation through the mud - turned me into a community laughing stock (...) I hear the sniggers. I hear the little farting sounds. People whispering 'poo- ee' as I pass by! I need justice.
AARON: Look( Karl, I am so sorry that you have to deal with this, I truly am. But I am not comfortable being your spy.
KARL: Think of it as your civic duty. Look, this guy is a menace. He poops wherever he wants - he doesn't care where the innocent may tread! I mean, you'd be fighting the good fight for general public hygiene.
Susan tries to stop Karl from pestering Aaron further, but he just ignores her and carries on.
KARL: Who knows where he'll strike next? It could be your front lawn - imagine that! Little Isla could topple into it!
AARON: Hey, enough with the scenarios, please!
KARL: Okay, so you'll do it?
AARON: If I don't, will you leave me alone?
KARL: Probably not, no.
SUSAN: Oh, Karl!
AARON: No, Susan, it's fine. Anything to shut him up.
Karl is triumphant, while Susan just shakes her head.
No 32
On the patio, Vic is having brunch with Sam, who he's meeting for the first time, as well as Jane, Byron and Sadie, while Nicolette and Isla play on the grass nearby. Vic asks Sadie a few questions about her make- up course, until Byron intervenes, asking him to 'tone it down with the questions'.
VIC: What's wrong with asking about career objectives?
NICOLETTE: Because you've been hassling all of us lately, Dad, and it's annoying! (...) There's more to life than work.
VIC: That's true. Personal relationships are equally important. So what went wrong between you and Kiri?
NICOLETTE: Are we seriously talking about this? (...) There's nothing more to say about us. I stuffed up, badly, and there's no coming back.
VIC: I don't believe that for a second. Any mistake, no matter how grievous, can always be rectified. I'm living, breathing proof.
Jane looks like she might disagree, as does Byron! Sadie looks uncomfortable.
Harold's Café
Amira has done what Haz suggested and come to check out his business. Mackenzie is nervous when she sees Amira, but Amira takes the opportunity to apologise.
AMIRA: After talking to Haz, I realised I got the situation about you and him and the accident all wrong.
MACKENZIE: Thank you. I really appreciate that.
AMIRA: Yeah. I mean, I also appreciate you looking after him, and leading the charge to keep this place afloat... but he'll probably have to let the business go.
MACKENZIE: What? Why?
AMIRA: I've asked Haz to move back home.
The 82
Karl is working a shift at the tram when Aaron pulls up on his bike. Various members of the YAHMILs are already there, drinking coffee, and on Karl's silent instruction, Aaron goes over to join them. Matty, the leader, seems pleased to see Aaron again, and asks if he's decided to join the YAHMILs. Aaron says he has, and Matty introduces him to the other speaking members of the club, Phil and Jacob, who welcome him.
Karl watches with satisfaction as rather less enthusiastic Aaron prepares to head off on a bike ride with the YAHMILs.
No 32
Vic, Sadie and the No 24 crew have finished brunch, and Vic suggests they head down the pub for a game of darts, where Jane can tell him more about Mike's motorbike tours. Jane rather tersely says she has other things to do, as does Sam; and Sadie says she has homework to do. Nicolette isn't interested in being hassled further about her love life either, still sore about it having dominated conversation at breakfast.
Nic heads out for a walk 'to shake off this brunch', leaving Isla with Sam. Vic asks Byron if he was really that bad over brunch; Byron says he was hassling everyone about everything.
VIC: I just want to make sure everyone's happy with their chosen careers, relationships.
BYRON: So we can all end up like you?
VIC: Well, that's exactly my point. I spent a lifetime flitting from job to job, and person to person, instead of knowing when I was onto a good thing, and having the tenacity to see it out.
Jane looks uncomfortable, and suggests to Sam that they head off with Isla, leaving Vic and Byron alone together. Byron's about to find his own excuse to get out of Vic's pub trip, but Vic says he won't take no for an answer.
Harold's Café
Mackenzie and Amira are talking about the possibility of Haz moving back to Western Australia. Amira concedes that Haz hasn't made a decision yet, but says their parents haven't seen him in years, so they're desperate to have him back.
MACKENZIE: Of course, but why can't he recover here, and then have a nice, long visit with them when he's better?
AMIRA: Because he's gonna recover so much better at home with us.
MACKENZIE: I think we've done a pretty good job of taking care of him so far.
AMIRA: Okay, but what about when he's better, and then you guys start working through your issues. Is that gonna help his recovery, or set him right back? I think we both know the answer to that.
Amira gets up and is about to leave, but first bumps into Nicolette on the way out, and there are instant sparks. They're both wearing the same necklace, which becomes a talking/flirting point.
AMIRA: At least you have good taste. You might even wear it better. Only just.
Nicolette and Amira continue to eye each other up as Amira walks out, while Mackenzie sits oblivious at her table, worrying about Haz.
The 82
Aaron and Karl are observing the YAHMILs from inside the tram.
KARL: So, any suspects?
AARON: Well, there's Phil (...) We were all riding together, and then he had to drop back for a bit because apparently, there was a problem with his bike.
KARL: Okay, so he had time and opportunity.
AARON: Yeah. Except I genuinely think there was a problem with his bike.
We cut to Phil and Matty chatting. Phil remarks on how hard the last stretch of their ride was, but Matty says that if he spent less time on his phone and more on the pedal, he wouldn't feel it so much.
Aaron admits that Phil is his only suspect; it was a tough ride and most of the time Aaron was struggling to keep up. Karl suggests Aaron go and chat to the YAHMILs now to get further clues.
KARL: Anyone who was riding alone on Power Road this morning - that's our pooper.
AARON: Got it.
Aaron sits down next to Jacob, another YAHMIL.
AARON: Do you come here often?
JACOB: Yeah. Every week.
AARON: Nice...
The Waterhole
Sadie has brought Wendy some spare shoes from home, as Wendy's been wearing new shoes on her shift and they're really uncomfortable.
WENDY: So, is there any goss from the Stone family brunch? You know, especially the vibe between Jane and her ex?
SADIE: No goss.
WENDY: ... But you had a good time?
SADIE: Yeah, totally.
But Wendy can sense something's wrong and presses Sadie on it.
SADIE: I was just thinking about the time I kept that secret about Paul. And how horribly it ended, and how much I felt like a really bad person.
Wendy is surprised Sadie's still dwelling on that, and tells her she has to stop.
WENDY: You are a good person. And you've just got to look at all these good things that are happening in your life right now, yeah?
Sadie doesn't look altogether convinced.
Erinsborough Hospital
Mackenzie arrives for another visit with Haz, but finds him a bit subdued.
HAZ: When I was in the coma, did you say to me that that email you wrote Harlow was real? Because it's like a vague, hazy memory, but it's only just come back to me - so I'm not sure if it's true or not.
MACKENZIE: ... It's true.
HAZ: So it wasn't a deepfake from Wade. So... the part where you said you'd never love me as much as Hendrix - that bit was true too?
MACKENZIE: It was at the time. Only because you were being so distant, and secretive, and angry. That's not how I feel now.
HAZ: Yeah, but now that you do know the truth about me, I probably never will be as good as him.
MACKENZIE: You know Hendrix wasn't squeaky clean either?
HAZ: What if you always think I'm worse?
MACKENZIE: ...
HAZ: You should also know that Amira has asked me to move back home.
MACKENZIE: I know, she told me. She also told me that you hadn't made your mind up yet.
HAZ: Of course it would be amazing to see my parents. It's a huge deal that they've forgiven me... Do you think that one day, you might forgive me too?
MACKENZIE: With all my heart, I want to try and make us work. And I will do everything I can to get us there... But I can't make any promises, Haz. That wouldn't be fair on either of us.
The Waterhole
Vic and Byron are playing darts in the pub when Wendy brings them drinks. They're on the house, she tells Vic, as with Byron and Sadie dating, it practically makes them family.
VIC: True. Although I have to say, you look more like Sadie's sister than her mother.
BYRON: Oi, Vic. Seriously?
WENDY: Excuse me - do not stop him! I am loving it.
Byron's not impressed. Wendy asks him if Sadie's said anything to him lately about the business between Paul and Eden, adding that she said she was dwelling on it again. This is obviously news to Byron. Vic asks if it's something he should know about; Byron brushes it off, saying it's a long story. But Wendy gives him a potted overview, saying Sadie kept a secret for Paul which really messed her up.
WENDY: Something must have stirred it up again.
Vic visibly realises that it's because he's putting Sadie in a similar situation with his own secret, but keeps quiet.
Erinsborough Hospital
Haz is seemingly asleep and Mackenzie still by his side when Amira comes in.
MACKENZIE: I meant what I said about caring for him.
AMIRA: I meant what I said, too.
HAZ (opening his eyes): Guys, could you stop arguing? It hurts my heart.
Amira tells Haz she's been to Harold's and thinks it's fabulous; he has every reason to be proud. Mackenzie says they'll keep looking after it until he feels better; he doesn't need to get rid of the business. But Haz points out that his recovery could take quite some time, according to the doctors.
HAZ: So I've been thinking - maybe it's best for everyone that I just let it all go, and head back home.
Amira looks hopeful, but Mackenzie looks heartbroken.
The 82
Susan having a drink inside the tram with Aaron. She's quietly apologising to him for Karl being such a nightmare, but their chat is cut short when Karl himself interrupts. He's bought Aaron a helmet camera for his next bike ride with the YAHMILs - so if anyone breaks away from the pack like Phil did today, Aaron can follow him and film it.
AARON: Are you being serious?!
KARL: Yeah. Well, you catch him with his pants down, that's it, we've got him.
AARON: Karl, there is no way I'm going to do that!
KARL: Oh, come on. People wear these on their helmets all the time! You won't look suspicious. Aaron, please.
SUSAN: Karl, this is verging on harassment!
KARL: I just... I want to start my new job - no, my new life - at Eirini Rising with a clean reputation. Look, if I could do it myself, I would do it - you know that. But I can't. Aaron, I need you. Desperately!
Aaron grudgingly relents, but tells Karl that this next time will be the last. Karl sends him outside to rejoin the YAHMILs.
Meanwhile, Susan gets a message from Harold - he's almost finished packing up to move back to Erinsborough and Eirini Rising, but will be staying with the Kennedys the night before he moves in. Unless, jokes Susan, Terese changes his moving- in time. But Karl says that now Susan's cleared the air with Terese and he's cleared his name, everything is looking good.
No 32
Vic has summoned Sadie for a chat. He says he's heard about the secret Sadie kept for Paul, and now understands that the pressure he's been putting on her to keep his secret has been distressing for her.
VIC: My dear girl. I'm so sorry to put you in that position. I really am.
But at this point Byron comes in.
BYRON: What the hell is going on here? (to Sadie) Are you alright? Did he say something? Did he touch you?
VIC: No, I'd never do anything like that!
BYRON: Oh, come on, Dad, everybody knows you're a sleaze. Hitting on Wendy at the bar? Walking in on Krista in the shower?
He gestures at Sadie.
BYRON: And every time you're around her you make her feel so uncomfortable.
SADIE: Yeah, there's a reason for that.
BYRON: Then, what is it? Come on!
VIC: Sadie's upset because she discovered a secret about me. And I asked her not to tell anyone. There's no point hiding it now, so you might as well know... I'm dying.
Byron looks stunned.
