Susan shows Karl two outfits and asks which one she should wear. He points out that they're almost identical and anyway, the job is not about what she's wearing.
Just then, Karl gets a call from Harold
Ramsay Street
Aaron is looking at David on the side of Mel's van. Mel assures him that she'll never paint over him.
They see Toadie and Terese going into their house and wave hello. It's Melanie's last day of community service today.
Waterhole
Paul and Leo are chatting at a table. Neither of them have been sleeping very much. Paul is annoyed that he can't even make a "transactional romance" work.
Terese and Toadie see Paul and Leo from a distance. Terese says that it's Krista she feels sorry for.
No.30
Aaron is shocked to hear that Leo has dumped Krista. He encourages her to talk to him again, but she doesn't want to.
Remi and Cara pop around to see Krista. They break the news that Chelsea has gone on the run - she's withdrawn all her cash from her bank account, closed down her social media accounts and her phone's gone dead. She's apparently gone completely off- grid.
EirinRising
Susan arrives for work looking nervous. She's carrying two coffees.
She goes in and finds Terese and Toadie. She loves the new office and they are all very excited.
Penthouse
Krista has come to see Paul to see if he knows anything about Krista.
Leo is there and it's a bit awkward. Krista asks him if there's any hope for them, but he says she handled things so badly with Chelsea, he can't get over it. He also says that he shouldn't have gone against David's advice of starting a relationship with someone in recovery.
KRISTA: But I wanted to be with you. I still do.
LEO: You're not ready, Krista. After everything we went through together, when it got tough, you cut me out and you went to Aaron.
KRISTA: Yeah, I was trying to protect you. I wouldn't do that again.
LEO: But I could have been there for you.
KRISTA: I know...please, if you give me another chance...
LEO: I can't, I can't risk it. It hurts too much.
Lassiter's Lake
Paul and Melanie are talking on a bench. Melanie advises Paul not to get married anymore - even Henry 8th stopped at six(!) She's decided to concentrate on herself too. They chat about Melanie's business and Paul suggests that she tries parking the drinks van somewhere where people like to drink for a change(!) This gives Melanie an idea.
Eirini Rising
Terese asks Susan to take some pictures of the complex. Susan is confused, saying she didn't think it was her remit. But Terese wants Susan "across everything"
Waterhole (outside)
Melanie texts someone "if you have availability, I'm in"
Krista comes by and they hug. Melanie commiserates her about Chelsea, and Krista congratulates her on completing her community service.
Melanie tells her that now she's a free woman, she's made a big decision.
Eirini Rising
Susan is a bit overwhelmed at having to take so many photos of the construction.
Terese takes out some sandwiches for a working lunch. Susan looks a bit awkward, saying she was going to meet Karl for lunch. They don't seem to be on the same page yet.
Waterhole
Aaron tells Toadie that Karl is haranguing him to join a bike club.
AARON: Has he said anything to you about it?
TOADIE: Oh, my phone autmoatically blocks any text from Karl that involves the words "bike", "ride" or "lycra"
AARON: Really?
TOADIE: No. Although I should look into that...
Toadie has apparently turned Karl down already. Just then, Krista comes in to ask what Chelsea could be charged with. Toadie doesn't think that Chelsea would get charged with involuntary manslaughter. Perhaps "reckless conduct endandering life". But unfortunately Krista would be the main witness, and the defence lawyers would definitely go into Krista's past very hard.
KRISTA:(crestfallen) So basically my legal options here are...?
TOADIE: Not ideal. I'm sorry.
Garden of No.30
Melanie comes to see Karl and tells him that she's at the end of her community service. He invites her to join their morning bike rides, but she's going away for five weeks. Paul has inspired her - she's going to join the music winter festival circuit. It's quite lucrative apparently and she should make enough money to get her own place. Her next chapter is "Melanie gets her groove back"!
Karl is quite jealous and wishes he could go along to music festivals too!
Waterhole
Remi, Cara, Krista and Aaron are talking. Cara is embarrassed at her sister's scheming.
KRISTA: None of this is on you.
CARA: Thanks.
Remi and Cara head off. Krista is upset - Chelsea is going to get away with everything she's done. There's no way to get to her legally.
Eirini Rising
Susan has finally finished dealing with the photos. Terese looks at Susan's timetable for resident move in and decides to rearrange it. Terese sends Susan off to take another photo!
Hospital
Krista is talking to an unconscious Haz.
KRISTA: Nothing's OK. I mean, I lost my baby. And I've lost Leo. And Chelsea just gets to move on. How can I move on? Hope died for nothing.
Tears fall, it's hopeless.
Waterhole
Cara comes past on the way to the bar to tell Paul that she's told the police everything possible about Chelsea, she hopes she'll be caught soon.
Leo heads off to get Abby, and Paul goes over to Cara. He tells her that actually, there is something she can do for him.
Ramsay Street
Melanie is heading off to the music festival. Karl gives her a CD of his greatest hits!
She laughs.
MELANIE: I am going to put this on and play it full volume as I cruise up the Hulme!
SUSAN: You're a brave woman(!)
KARL: You can be free, free as a river!
Terese and Toadie see her depart through the window of No.22.
On the street, Susan tells Karl that she hasn't had a very good first day with Terese.
In No.22, Terese tells Toadie that she had a brilliant first day with Susan!
On the street, Susan tells Karl that she's not sure about the job and may have made a big mistake.
