Geelong
Andrea is not impressed to see that Ian has been TITTNL™ with Heather.
IAN: Hi... Andrea!
ANDREA: What's this?
HEATHER: Awkward.
ANDREA: How long's it been going on?
HEATHER: Not long.
IAN: But only after you and I hit a bump in the road.
Andrea goes menacingly quiet as she puts her shopping down.
IAN: Look, I'm sorry it didn't work out between us. We had a special bond. But now -
ANDREA: You've bonded with my mother instead.
IAN: Well...
ANDREA: I think you should leave.
IAN: Yeah, yeah - I think that's probably good.
Ian gets out of bed, grabs his clothes and kisses Heather goodbye - she tells him to call her. He heads out into the corridor with his clothes in his arms! Once he's gone, Andrea lobs what looks like an orange at the closing door and goes nuclear at Heather.
ANDREA: What the *hell* were you thinking?!
No 22
Yashvi and Willow are with Ned, and telling Terese about their business studies project, for which they're drawing inspiration from Ned with his experience of the Lassiter's tours. Terese suggests they need to narrow it down to a specific market.
YASHVI: How about how to actually have fun in Erinsborough? For people who come here and don't realise how boring it is?
TERESE: Yeah, that's probably a little too specific. I don't think our market's big enough for that.
YASHVI (to Ned): When was the last time you had fun in Erinsborough?
NED: Oh, well, it's not Vegas, but -
YASHVI: But it could be! We'll prove you wrong tomorrow morning at our practice tour.
WILLOW: You can give us feedback.
YASHVI: And have your mind blown.
Willow and Yashvi high-five, and Ned laughs.
Geelong
Andrea is still furious with Heather.
ANDREA: How many times do I have to tell you, Mum? We. Do. Not. Share.
HEATHER: But you were finished with him!
ANDREA: For a reason!
HEATHER: But I was only trying to get him off your back!
ANDREA: What, by getting on yours?!
HEATHER: Oh, please.
ANDREA: I was dealing with it, Mum!
HEATHER: Oh, no, you weren't. You needed help!
ANDREA: Oh, thank you. Your help has just made the situation much more complicated! What if he goes and blows your cover?
HEATHER: No, he won't! He likes me, and I like him. Besides, he might serve a purpose.
ANDREA: How?
HEATHER: Because he can help us get in touch with Karen.
ANDREA: No!
HEATHER: Andy, she is a loose thread, and loose threads need to be...
Heather makes an ominous scissor-snipping gesture with her hand.
ANDREA: She has been gone for fifteen years, Mum. If she was gonna come back, she would have come back by now. She is no threat.
Andrea is becoming tearful.
ANDREA: You need to stop thinking about her, and start thinking about me. And no more of this Ian business, alright? It's just too dangerous for both of us.
HEATHER: I'm so sorry, pumpkin. Why... why don't you sit down? I'll get us both a drink, and you can tell me all about your hypnosis session.
ANDREA: Yeah, about that... Umm, when I was little, did you ever have any redheaded friends?
Heather looks positively revolted at the suggestion, as she decants the contents of her hip flask into a teacup for Andrea!
HEATHER: Oh. Never!
ANDREA: Well, did we ever deal with a redheaded social worker, or something?
HEATHER: Not that I remember.
ANDREA: I just had a memory - a real one this time. This redheaded woman, she was looking out for me. She seemed very invested. It was intense.
HEATHER: Hmm. Sounds creepy. It's lucky you weren't snatched.
ANDREA: Oh, well, could you imagine how bad my childhood would've been? (!)
HEATHER: So, that was it - there wasn't anything else?
ANDREA: I'm out of here. No more leaving the apartment, no more guests. Last time I'm going to tell you.
HEATHER: Yep. Got it.
But as soon as Andrea's out of the door, Heather pulls a face, and retrieves Ian's quartz from behind a cushion. She kisses it excitedly.
Harold's Café
The next day, Finn and Bea are having a coffee as he helps her with her TAFE work. Finn is distracted.
FINN: I was just thinking about what you said at the community centre. How I helped you with your dyslexia. It's the first nice thing anyone's said about... the old me. Do you think that maybe there was still some good in me, even then?
Uncomfortable, Bea says she doesn't know.
BEA: I try not to think about that time. But I definitely don't let it define me, and I don't think you should, either.
Yashvi and Willow come in with Ned; he is the guinea pig on their fun tour of Erinsborough! Yashvi declares Harold's the best café in Erinsborough (not difficult).
WILLOW: But, is it fun?
YASHVI: Funny you should ask! To the naked eye, this seems like a simple café...
But Ned is distracted, and watches Bea and Finn jealously. Willow suggests they take a break and get some coffees.
NED: Yeah, or we could just move on.
Yashvi looks peeved.
Lassiter's Complex
Terese is giving Pierce a briefing on the latest from the Investors™, who are still up in arms about the stolen horse scandal, despite an emollient media release. Pierce suggests she call a meeting with them to 'reassure them you're not a horse thief'.
Nearby, Yashvi is hard-selling the courtyard pond to Ned as part of the Erinsborough fun tour.
YASHVI: The pond was a fantastic edition when the complex was renovated, because Erinsborough thought they were lacking a water feature for a smashed manager to fall into! Heard they fished her out with a net...
But at that point, Ned, Yashvi and Willow realise Terese is standing there listening, and it's awkward.
TERESE (tersely): I see the tour's going well.
YASHVI (sheepish): Everybody loves a scandal.
She continues her tour across the bridge over the pond.
YASHVI: Here is the next attraction - the place to be on Valentine's Day. If you're lucky, you'll see an old woman get rolled by a massive heart pitched by a jilted lover driven insane by heartbreak.
TERESE: Yashvi!
YASHVI: Sorry.
But Ned is distracted again, and rushes off, saying there's something he has to do.
Lassiter's
Toadie turns up at Andrea's hotel room, to see if she's had any more thoughts about who the redheaded woman was from her childhood memory.
ANDREA: No, not really, sorry. I'm just a bit thrown by the whole thing. The session was a lot.
TOADIE: I guess I, umm, should apologise, then (...) I've been so focused on finding Heather, that if I've pushed you into doing another hypnosis session, when you know it's that bad...
ANDREA: Hey, no - no. Not at all, okay? I wanted to do it. I'll do anything I can to help.
TOADIE: Did you want to come over for a play with Hugo later? We can counterbalance the trauma... if that's even possible. I dunno.
ANDREA: Oh. I'd love that. Thank you.
TOADIE: It's not a big deal.
ANDREA: No, it is, Toadie. It's family - it's everything.
Andrea grins deviously as Toadie leaves.
The Waterhole
Ned has summoned Leo for a heart-to-heart.
NED: Bea and Finn... I get this sick feeling they're about to hook up.
LEO: Ooh. Yeah, that, uh... that is pretty complicated. What about you, mate? Is there anyone else on your radar?
NED: Nah, not exactly. I mean, there could be someone (...) It's Yashvi.
LEO: Wow! Really?
NED: Yeah. We've always been mates. Recently we've been hanging out more, and... she's funny, you know. She makes me laugh. Plus, she stuck by me through all that Harry stuff.
LEO: Yeah, well... you two would be cute. She does lighten you up. And it's good to be with someone who makes you happy. You know, without all the drama (...) It's up to you, but I wouldn't rule it out.
Harold's Café
Finn and Bea are still hanging out. Finn informs Bea that her song 'Sorry' has had a heap more streams.
BEA: I hope you're not all of them.
FINN: No! I was just looking for the album art.
Ned comes in and heads straight for the counter, so Bea goes over to talk to him. She thanks him again for the recording studio session, saying that her song is doing well.
BEA: I owe you a beer or something.
NED: Nah, you don't. I was happy to help.
BEA: Well, if you ever feel like going to get a drink, just as friends... we could even go tonight?
NED: ... Bea, we can't. We can't. Have you seen Yashvi? I'm meant to be halfway through this tour she's doing.
Bea hasn't seen Yashvi, and looks slightly peeved. Ned rushes off to find her, and Bea is left looking confused.
No 30
Nell and Hugo are playing on the floor, while Toadie chats to Susan in the kitchen. He tells her how freaked out Andrea was by the hypnotherapy session with Bev.
TOADIE: That can't be good for her, right?
SUSAN: Unfortunately, there's no way for her to work through the trauma she experienced without confronting it.
TOADIE: Yeah, but remembering things in that way, you know, just little bits and pieces. That's got to be more confusing.
SUSAN: I dunno. I guess you've got to give it time; hopefully, those bits and pieces all fall into place... Has all this... made you feel differently about her?
TOADIE: I hate her. For what she's done to me, and to Sonya. And then, I, uh... and then I think about what she went through as a little kid, which she's reliving for me now.
SUSAN: And you feel sorry for her?
TOADIE: Yeah. I do.
Lassiter's Lake
Yashvi is lamenting Ned's lack of interest in the tour, and by inference, in her, to Willow.
YASHVI: We're terrible ambassadors for Erinsborough tourism.
WILLOW: When do you think we lost him?
YASHVI: For me? It was probably when I tried to kiss him.
WILLOW: Hey, you guys made a great comeback from that.
YASHVI: Yeah. Right into the friendzone.
But at that moment, Ned turns up, and asks what the next stop on the tour is.
YASHVI: I thought you'd had enough?
NED: What? No - I heart Erinsborough!
WILLOW: Great. Because, next stop is the Backpackers'. Which is fun, because...
Yeah, good luck with that one, Willow. But they all head there anyway, for a game of pool. Ned promises to give them some feedback afterwards. Yashvi nudges him playfully as she leads the way.
No 30
Toadie and Andrea are playing with Hugo on the sofa, all happy families. Dipi is with Shane in the kitchen, packing up a crate of Tinkle (!), and gives Andrea the evils. Andrea returns them, but Toadie is oblivious. It's bedtime for Hugo, and Andrea asks if Toadie would mind if she put him to bed. He's quite willing for her to do so, and Dipi once again looks worried.
Lassiter's Complex
Terese is catching up with Susan. She says she can't fault Andrea's performance at work; she's a model employee. But Susan is still sceptical about her.
SUSAN: I don't think her being here is very good for Toadie.
TERESE: No. She has put him through a lot.
SUSAN: Yeah. It's hard to put that aside.
TERESE: I mean, you found a way to forgive Finn. That seems like the right decision.
SUSAN: Certainly, there are parallels. But Andrea and Finn - they're very different.
TERESE: So, what's it like having him live with you, now that it's sunk in?
SUSAN: Oh, it's been difficult. And I can certainly understand why people were mystified or even angry about it. It certainly hasn't been smooth sailing. In fact, it's actually been quite isolating.
TERESE: Listen, you know where I am if you need me.
SUSAN: Yeah, thanks.
Susan admits that she's worried about Bea.
SUSAN: She and Finn seem to be getting pretty close (...) It's just a friendship, but given their history... any time they spend together is potentially quite loaded.
TERESE: Poor Ned was so devastated when Bea broke up with him. I don't know how he'll cope if she moves on.
They look over to the grassy area nearby, where they're surprised to see Ned and Yashvi wrestling for a football - and it's all quite hands-on.
TERESE: Perhaps he'll be just fine after all!
SUSAN: Mm!
Geelong
Ian is back to visit Heather, and he's brought some homemade elderflower wine.
IAN: I hated leaving you like that last night.
HEATHER: And I hated you leaving.
They kiss, and Heather takes a swig of the wine, straight from the bottle - but finds it's a bit rough even for her tastes.
HEATHER: Oh, yes, that's wonderful. We'll use it as a mixer, on another day.
IAN: Was Andrea very angry?
HEATHER: Oh, she said some very harsh things. But I managed to talk her down.
IAN: I wish I had the chance to break it to her gently. She must really be hurting.
HEATHER: Yeah...
IAN: Does this mean I have to stop seeing you?
HEATHER: No, of course not - oh, no, no, no! Oh, I would hate that. I need you now more than ever; I'm so alone.
IAN: So was I. Until now.
They kiss again, and she decants a spirit from her hip flask for them.
HEATHER: This has to be our little secret, though. I don't want Andrea to find out.
IAN: Anything you say.
HEATHER: Yes. Oh, it's such a relief to be with someone who understands. Oh, I love my pumpkin, but I'm so worried about the choices she's making. I mean, I don't think she realises how much she needs me... and you.
They drink.
HEATHER: I mean, who knows when Karen could just spring back into life? At any stage. And we'd all be ruined.
Sinister music, as Heather fills up her glass again.
Harold's Café
Willow and Yashvi are getting a drink, while Ned is in the bathroom. Willow good-naturedly offers to leave Yashvi and Ned to it, admitting she felt like a third wheel when they were playing footy.
YASHVI: Ned's never treated me like this before.
WILLOW: So you think he's into you now?
YASHVI: No, I'm not gonna get ahead of myself. I have felt that burn before.
WILLOW: So what are you gonna do?
YASHVI: Nothing. If Ned wants me, then he has to make the first move. But I still think it's a big 'if'.
No 30
Andrea thanks Toadie again for inviting her round to spend time with Hugo. Willow comes in, and seems uncomfortable that Andrea is there yet again. Toadie goes to put Hugo's toys away, leaving them to talk alone.
ANDREA: We're getting along so much better than I thought we would be at this stage.
WILLOW: You're falling for him, aren't you?
ANDREA (laughs): What?! No! I just want to be friends.
WILLOW: That better be true. Because if you try for something more, I guarantee it won't end well.
Geelong
Ian is lying on the bed, and asks Heather to join him.
HEATHER: Oh, you're such a tiger! I wish I could, but I... I just can't stop thinking about Andrea and Jarrod.
IAN: Oh, come on, pussycat, let it go! They'll be okay!
HEATHER: Oh, I wish I could - I really wish I could. But I have to help them. And the only way I can think of doing that is to find out more about this Karen, where she is.
IAN: Well, I don't know any more than I told Andrea.
Heather comes to join him on the bed.
HEATHER: What exactly did you tell her? Because I know the South Africa story isn't true.
IAN: ... The last thing I heard, Karen was near Byron Bay.
HEATHER: Well, that's a start! Do you have an address, a phone number, Insta, Tinder?
IAN: No... I knew that she'd married someone years ago. A woman I know runs a couple of cafés up there.
HEATHER: You know where she works?
IAN: No-one ever heard from her again after that.
HEATHER: But, but... yes! Yes, that's enough to track her down! Yes!
IAN: Are... are you sure that's a good idea?
Heather grabs a bag and starts packing.
HEATHER: We need to know this Karen is settled, that she's out of the picture. She's a nuisance!
IAN: Andrea's not going to be happy.
HEATHER: Oh, that's alright.
IAN: Well, just don't mention I told you anything.
HEATHER: No! Don't worry, lover. I'm very good at keeping *mum*.
She laughs, and kisses him.
No 22
Ned comes in with Yashvi, bantering about footy, and they sit on the couch together. She asks for his view on her tour for the business studies project; he says the bones are there, but it needs work.
YASVHI: Equals, it's a shocker.
NED: Maybe you just need to beef it up a little bit, you know? Dr Karl Kennedy takes a bike tour! Or a pub crawl with Sheila Canning!
YASHVI: ...
NED: Hey, look - it's a school project. Don't stress.
YASHVI: Last year, I would've been, like, 'stuff it - a close enough mark's a good enough mark.' But after failing so badly...
NED: Hey, you'll do better this time.
YASHVI: Easy for you to say. I just feel like I can't do anything right. The important stuff, anyway. I know I'm good at footy, and maybe I'll go somewhere with it. But I don't want that to be all I am.
NED: But you're already so much more than that. You're funny, determined, a little bit annoying...
She slaps him on the leg.
NED: You're actually incredibly special.
YASHVI: Thanks. But you don't have to say that just cos I'm whingeing.
NED: ...
YASHVI: What? Is something on my face?
But instead, Ned leans in and kisses her. He pulls back to check it's okay, then she leans in and they kiss again.
