Lassiter's
Terese, Gary and Paige are in Terese's office. Terese is reading the letter from Courtney's solicitor regarding the unfair dismissal lawsuit, so is distracted when Paige reminds her that she has a scan tomorrow. Terese explains to Gary and Paige that Courtney is suing for $5 million.
Paige thinks Courtney has some grounds, but that the sum is completely unwarranted. Terese has been trying to call Courtney to negotiate, but her phone is switched off.
GARY: Have you tried Voldemort Collins?
TERESE: Tim - of course! He'll be orchestrating this!
Terese rushes off, asking Paige to reschedule a meeting.
Ramsay Street
Steph is about to head off on her bike, but stops to speak to Sonya outside No 30. Sonya asks after Amy's health following the garage accident; Steph explains Amy will have to wear the boot for a month or so, but that Jack will be helping out at the yard. Steph also relays the good news about Hamish donating $200,000 for the wellness centre. Sonya is happy for her.
Sonya is putting some papers in the recycling bin, and Steph notices some photos of Sonya and Sam, from their younger days.
STEPH: I wouldn't be throwing him away!
SONYA: He's just a guy I used to know. I thought I saw him earlier, so I just dug these photos out of him. His name's Samuel - Sam - he was an intern when I was at rehab.
STEPH: Did something happen between you?
SONYA: No! No, it didn't - but I wanted it to, cos I loved him, Steph - I just loved him! And I tried to kiss him, but he was just too much of a professional to let anything happen. And by the time I was out, and I was ready, he'd moved to Israel, and... Yeah, we lost touch after that.
Sonya bids farewell to the photos in the bin!
Counselling Office
Sam encourages Toadie to talk about the issues surrounding Sonya's surrogacy.
SAM: You said you wanted your wife to have another child in her life. To be happy.
TOADIE: Yeah, that's right.
SAM: Even if it wasn't your child?
TOADIE: Yeah. Yeah, but it was more difficult than what I thought.
SAM: And why do you think that was?
TOADIE: Because I was jealous. Mark could give her something that I couldn't. Or at least, thought I couldn't. I had some tests done around that time, and it turns out that there was actually a slim chance. But it would've been years of trying, and I didn't want to put Sonya through that.
SAM: If she'd wanted to try, though, would you have done it?
TOADIE: ... Honestly, yeah, I think I would have been thrilled.
SAM: Could that be the reason that you were so susceptible to Andrea? Maybe you wanted Willow to be your daughter more than you thought?
TOADIE: ...
SAM: Toadie?
TOADIE: Yeah, no arguments there.
Sam suggests they take a break, and picks up a footie. Toadie follows him.
The Waterhole
Terese comes off the phone to Tim Collins, and tells Paige that he swears he had heard nothing about Courtney's lawsuit. Paige says Tim Collins hasn't been close to Courtney since she moved out after failing uni. Paige informs Terese that she has a shoe fitting for her wedding scheduled in now, so Terese goes off to meet Xanthe who is organising it.
Meanwhile, Hamish tells Tyler that he's arranged another sailing lesson for them this afternoon. But Tyler's still feeling guilty about Amy's accident, and wants to check in on her instead. Sheila's passing, and Hamish asks her how Amy is, in a bid to show Tyler she's okay and get him to change his mind about the lesson.
Sheila says that Amy's now got time on her hands to do the motel renovation, all thanks to Hamish's donation - and convinces Tyler to give himself some downtime. Tyler therefore agrees to the sailing lesson with Hamish. While Tyler fetches coffees to go, Hamish tells Sheila he owes her one.
No 26
In the garden, Amy remarks to Sheila that she's glowing! Sheila says she's just seen Hamish and Tyler at the pub. Amy asks when Hamish will be donating the money; Sheila reminds her he only offered it this morning.
SHEILA: It's so nice seeing him together with Tyler. You know, for a very rich man, he's not up himself at all. Very keen to get on with everyone.
AMY: Mm. Someone is!
SHEILA: Well, no. It's just that he's very easy on the corneas.
AMY: Well, why don't you ask him out?
SHEILA: I can't! He's way out of my price range!
AMY: Oh, he's not a leather jacket!
SHEILA: Oh, he may as well be. I'm gonna stick with the safe ones - he's way out of my league.
AMY: That's what you said about Clive, and look how well you two got along.
SHEILA: Yes, until I made a big mess of it all.
AMY: Don't let that put you off.
SHEILA: Did that engine fall on your head? You're not the type of person to encourage silly fantasies!
AMY: Maybe I've changed my tune since I met Nick.
SHEILA: And look how well that ended up (!)

Sheila continues to make excuses, saying she's too busy with Gary's wedding and looking after Amy to be romancing - adding that she doubts Hamish is interested anyway.
Lassiter's Lake
Toadie and Sam are kicking the footie about on the grass.
TOADIE: You know, when I found out that Willow wasn't my daughter, that just broke my heart. But then I figured I deserved that anyway.
SAM: But you don't. Those feelings aren't accurate.
TOADIE: Yeah, they're distortions - yeah, I'm getting that. But it's hard. I've been feeling guilty for the past thirteen years.
SAM: Can I ask, if you could turn back time and still be married to Dee, is that what you'd want? Even if it would mean that you'd never have met Sonya?
TOADIE: Yeah, we've already discussed this in couples counselling. I love Sonya. She's the wife that I want.
SAM: Take Dee out of the picture for a second. Is there any part of you, honestly, that still hankers for that simpler, guilt-free life?
TOADIE: Well, yeah. Yeah, I want that with Sonya.
SAM: In that case, just be mindful about jumping in before you're ready.
TOADIE: Why? You think I'm moving too quickly?
SAM: There's a long way to go before you see yourself as someone that deserves her. And you also need to figure out how you feel about some of the bigger issues, like having more kids.
Toadie looks thoughtful.
No 26
Terese is sitting worriedly among several boxes of shoes. Amy comes in and offers Terese the option to borrow her moonboot! Terese asks if Amy has heard from Paul - she hasn't.
TERESE: I've just been doing some thinking, and - Iook, I know what he did to Nick was appalling. But I kind of understand it.
AMY: He broke the law to put Nick back in jail!
TERESE: Yeah, I know - and what he did was terrible. But come on - you know how his mind operates. He honestly thought that he was looking out for us.
AMY: It's still no justification for what he did.
Xanthe interrupts, turning up with some more shoes for Terese to try. Amy leaves them to it, and Xanthe asks what Paige and Piper are planning for Terese's hen night. Terese has no idea, but suggests Xanthe could talk to them about it. The shoes fit.
Terese asks Xanthe if Courtney ever discussed her personal life when they were working together. Xanthe says that Tim Collins gives her a pretty hard time, and that's why she was so committed to the success of the day spa.
Terese is surprised to learn that the spa was so important to Courtney; Xanthe is surprised that Terese is surprised, saying Courtney was constantly planning to run ideas by her. Terese goes quiet...
The Marina
Tyler and Hamish have a beer on the boat, having just finished their sailing lesson, and Hamish suggests they head up the coast together for a few days. Tyler says he'd love to but needs to start looking for a new job instead. Hamish remarks that at least he's not having to support Piper at the backpackers' anymore. Tyler's surprised Hamish has heard about that; Hamish says Sheila told him.
TYLER: You two seem to be chatting a lot lately.
HAMISH: Look, she's lovely - but I'm not planning to pursue anything.
TYLER: I'm not stopping you!
HAMISH: No, no, no! You are my first priority. Cheers!
TYLER: Cheers!

Lassiter's
Xanthe arrives to discuss the bucks' and hens' parties with Paige.
XANTHE: What do you think of a hucks' night?
But Sam turns up, interrupting and wanting to talk to Paige. Xanthe instantly takes a shine to the newcomer. Sam wants permission to camp by the lake this weekend, for the festival of Sukkot, to commemorate the Jewish people's wanderings in the desert after being exiled from Egypt.
XANTHE: Wow, deep!
Paige tells Sam she'll have a word to Terese about the camping permit, but that it shouldn't be an issue. Sam leaves.
XANTHE: That guy's a regulation hottie! And religious, which everyone knows is your vibe! (...) You should ask him to be your plus-one at the wedding!
PAIGE: Oh, yeah. Because that's not a full-on first date or anything (!) Plus, he's probably not even single.
But Paige does look a little impressed by the newcomer herself!

Sonya's Nursery
Toadie arrives to speak to Sonya, who announces she only has a week to go before she finishes her community service programme. Toadie tells her he needs to talk about some stuff he's been working through at counselling.
TOADIE: I feel like we have been getting closer to reconciliation, and that we may have actually been there if it wasn't for this Nell stuff.
SONYA: I would agree with that, completely. Yeah.
She steps closer to him.
TOADIE: Right. So, I've been working on my destructive thought patterns, and had a breakthrough. And I feel like I'm finally getting somewhere.
SONYA: That's so good - that's so good, Jarrod. Considering where we were, it's great how well we're doing.
TOADIE: And I know that I have been the one pushing for us to get back together. It's cos I miss you so much.
SONYA: I miss you too.
They're now within kissing distance, and Sonya looks ready to take the plunge.
TOADIE: But you were right to put the brakes on. I don't think that it would be fair for us to be getting back together when I feel like such a work in progress.
SONYA: ... Well, that makes sense.
TOADIE: I mean, you were the one who said we needed time to heal, so I guess this isn't such a surprise to you? Are you okay with...
SONYA: ... Of course I am. I am. Look, I think it's really good for you, Jarrod.
But she's clearly very disappointed, and Toadie now looks confused!

Lassiter's
Paige is working in Terese's office. Paige starts asking Terese about Sam's camping request, but Terese ignores her and gives her a settlement she's drawn up for Courtney's lawsuit, which she wants Paige to witness. Paige is astounded by the amount of company money Terese is planning on handing to Courtney, saying she doesn't deserve it! Terese says she ruined Courtney's reputation.
PAIGE: Have you even spoken to the hotel lawyers about this?
TERESE: I know what I'm doing; please just sign it!
PAIGE: Look, I know that you did the wrong thing by Courtney, okay? But this - this is an overreaction. Ever since you slept with Paul, you have been making one terrible decision after another (...) It was your stress that made you boil over at Courtney instead of letting HR do their job, and now you're trying to alleviate your guilt by giving in to her demands! Terese, you need to sort yourself out!
The Marina
Hamish and Tyler are having a fun 'father and son' montage on the boat, fishing and squirting each other with hosepipes.
No 26
In the kitchen, Amy is planning to go to the marina to give Hamish the paperwork for his $200,000 donation for the wellness centre, but Sheila agrees to take it there for her instead as Amy isn't supposed to drive with her dodgy leg. Once Sheila's gone, Amy tells Xanthe that Sheila likes Hamish. Xanthe is surprised; she was hoping Sheila would get together with Clive.
In the living room, Xanthe asks Gary how he feels about the 'hucks night' stag/hen combi. Gary is 'stoked', and also about the plans for the wedding - he doesn't care how much Terese delegates, as long as she turns up on the day.
GARY: You and Terese are the most important women in my life. And since Kyle can't make it, when I marry my queen, I want my princess right next to me.
XANTHE: Are you suggesting I be your best woman?
GARY: It's not traditional, but to me, you are. What do you say?
XANTHE: I do!
Lassiter's Complex
The courtyard is still a construction site, as Toadie heads towards the office. He sees Sonya leaving Harold's with Nell. They don't see Toadie as he looks confused and upset, watching them.
The Waterhole
Paige catches up with Sam, and tells him he can go ahead with the camping by the lake for Sukkot. Sam thanks her for coming back to him. She lingers a bit.
SAM: Is there something else?
PAIGE: No. No, there isn't - enjoy!
As she leaves, Toadie arrives, having arranged to meet Sam.
TOADIE: I think I've made a huge mistake!
SAM: Toadie, it's fine. Sit down - tell me what you've done.
TOADIE: Well, I told Sonya that I need more time.
SAM: Okay, that must have been hard for you.
TOADIE: Yes, and it's hurt her feelings - I'm sure it has. And that's the last thing I want to do; all I want to do is be with her, so pushing her away just feels counterintuitive.
Sam compares the scenario to that of an AFL player with a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament, apparently!) They wouldn't risk returning to play too early for that kind of injury.
TOADIE: It's a tenuous argument, but I see your point.
SAM: You'll be all the stronger for it when you finally get back in the game.
Toadie looks uncertain.
No 26
Terese comes in, looking stressed, and tells Gary she's made a mess of everything. She's worried that once the Udagawas find out about the Courtney situation, they'll withdraw their investment and she'll have to sell the hotel.
GARY: They're not gonna do that to you!
TERESE: Yeah, but they should! I almost just paid out two million dollars because I felt guilty! ... I've done a terrible thing.
GARY: The Udagawas will get over it. Hey - you're no worse than the rest of us!

Gary makes Terese, who is very upset, sit on the infamous green couch!
TERESE: There are things you don't know.
GARY: Hey, babe - I might not know everything about you, but that doesn't matter! The past is the past. What I'm interested in is the future. When we're together as husband and wife. Soon, we'll be on our mini-moon - just you and me, in that caravan! Nothing else will matter!
Terese smiles, and Gary kisses and hugs her. But she still looks worried.
Ramsay Street
While Nell is catching fairies on the front lawn, Sonya tells Steph about Toadie's decision to back off from their relationship while he's still a 'work in progress'. Steph thinks it's a positive decision so they don't pre-empt things, and Sonya agrees in theory - but admits she wasn't expecting it.
SONYA: I know I've got no right to complain; I'm the one that's been putting on the brakes these last few months. But I'm starting to wonder if maybe I pushed him away for too long, and now he's starting to just pull away from me.
STEPH: No, I can't believe that. Toad loves you so much, Son - why do you think he's taking all this so seriously? No, trust me - it's positive.
The Marina
Sheila arrives at the boat to drop off the donation papers with Hamish. He shouts from the bathroom that he's just getting out of the shower, and Sheila apologises - but as she puts down the papers, she's surprised to find the smashed mobile phone on the bed.
Hamish emerges from the bathroom in his dressing gown and sees her holding the phone. He looks most displeased. She jokes that it's his 'burner phone' - the one he rings all his lady-friends on - but he snatches it from her hand.
SHEILA: I'm sorry. I'm such an idiot.
HAMISH: It's not a burner phone. I have two phones - one for business, and one for personal matters. And it also helps me to decide which calls I'm going to answer.
SHEILA: Why didn't you just say that?
HAMISH: Well, you - you coming in here. It's confusing.
He smiles at her sharkishly, all charm again.
SHEILA: Really?
HAMISH: Well, you feel it too, don't you?
SHEILA: I... I dunno...
Hamish moves in and kisses her on the lips!
