Penthouse suite
Leo explains to Paul why he defended him against Amy (because he owns him for Mannix) and doesn't want Paul to own up and admit that it was him. Paul thinks that the police are going to be asking them both questions but Leo points out that there is no evidence connecting them and remarks that they will both dodge a bullet.
PAUL: Amy is going to be furious with you.
LEO: Maybe so.
PAUL: And you're honestly prepared to do that for me?
LEO: I am.
Terese's office
Terese is shocked to discover from Amy that it was Leo that was behind the planting of the drugs when she thought it would be Paul. She wants to call the police so that Nick is freed but Amy asks her not to because it potentially means that Leo would end up inside. Somewhat reluctantly, Terese agrees to stall for now but plans on talking to Toadie to get his advice on what the best course of action is.
Number 28
Susan hands Sheila the paperwork for Gary and Terese's wedding and comments that she is looking a bit peaky. Sheila explains she's actually been to the spa, purely on a fact-finding mission on behalf of Xanthe and brings her up to speed on what she knows and about seeing Wayne there.
SUSAN: You reckon she's doing acupuncture?
SHEILA: No, Botox!
ELLY: That's not on the day spa menu.
SHEILA: I know but she offered it to me when I was having the facial peel thing.
Karl confirms Susan's thinking that can only be done by someone that's medically qualified. Sheila thinks that because she is cheaper, that is how she is getting the business and plans on telling Terese. Susan warns that Terese has a lot on her plate with the hotel review ongoing but Sheila feels if it got out, that would stuff it up more. Karl volunteers to check things out given his medical training and promises the ladies that he can do subtle!
The Waterhole
Leo tells David about letting Amy think that it was him who planted the drugs in Nick's room. David thinks Amy will go to the police but he's happy for her to do that, he is going to make it out so that he wasn't involved and that it was all Nick.
The K's enter the bar and upon spotting Courtney, Susan sends Karl over to talk to her while she goes gets the drinks in.
Courtney initially mistakes Karl for her date and when he mentions the rumours of what she is doing at the spa, suggests they talk later because Susan is upon them with their drinks. The lass doesn't miss a trick and tries to suggest a cream for Susan since nobody has suggested modifying her beauty regime as she got older! "That's very helpful advice Courtney," Karl replies earning him a glare from his wife but Courtney issues him an open invite to drop by the spa any time.
Penthouse suite
Paul is very surprised to see Terese arrive in his home especially as she is bearing an apology for wrongly thinking it was him who set Nick up. "If Amy told you that Leo's to blame then she's jumped to the wrong conclusion," he informs her and Terese repeats the advice Toadie has given - if Leo is made to testify at Nick's parole hearing, he will have to tell the truth otherwise he will be perjuring himself. Paul doesn't think that is right as Leo hasn't done anything wrong and claims that nobody planted the drugs, Nick is simply guilty.
TERESE: You know what, everything I said, the apology, I take it back but if Leo has done this, it comes down to your attitude.
PAUL: You know what, Leo is his own man and is also a very good judge of character.
TERESE: Oh, and what about Amy's judgement? And her feelings for Nick? Doesn't that affect your opinion of him?
PAUL: No. Nick is just using Amy to get what he wants.
TERESE: Well you should give her a bit more credit, she's not that stupid.
PAUL: No, and neither are you but Nick pulled the wool over your eyes.
Terese is refusing to go there and Paul tries to claim that Nick doesn't love Amy.
PAUL: Because you can tell when someone's feelings are real. That is if you've truly felt love before.
Again, she refuses to go there, simply informing Paul to tell Leo that the police will be touch before she leaves the suite.
Number 32
Amy is trying to suss out some clarification from Mishti by asking if Leo was with her the whole time on their date (yes) so explains why she is asking. Mishti does say that Leo got a call and that Nick's name was mentioned during it and if he has used her as an alibi, then it means he wasn't working alone. She does remember that he cut the date short though after the call and asks Amy to run through with her everything that happened.
Lassiters Complex
Mark catches up with Leo and despite his protestations he wasn't involved, Mark starts asking him questions. He isn't impressed with the answers Leo is giving and doesn't want to resort to taking him to the station for a formal interview. "I don't mean to be a jerk but this is ridiculous, the guy you want is already in jail," Leo protests and tells Mark to talk to Mishti who will confirm his movements.
Meanwhile as he is powerwalking through the complex, Karl spots Courtney getting out of her car and decides to question her. "Are you administering Botox?" he asks and she denies doing that, instead she is simply offering a tailored service for some of her male cliental and she offers them privacy while the procedure is taking place. She then tempts Karl into finding out what it is as she's had a last-minute cancellation and thinks he'll find it "incredibly restorative."
Hospital exterior
David tries to make Amy see that Leo is innocent and asks if she thinks it could simply have been Nick? "No," Amy vehemently replies and is after a character reference from David as part of an appeal she plans to instigate. He is happy to say Nick has been supportive of Terese and other patients at the hospital but can't add anything else truthfully. "We're talking about an innocent man," Amy reminds him but David can't categorially say that Nick hasn't been treating patients off the book. Amy wants to go see Clive but David thinks she'll just get the same reply back from him.
Number 28
Sheila is round to tell Susan (and Elly) that Xanthe has been told to make herself scare when Courtney appeared with Karl. Susan thinks it's so he can talk to her but is told he is booked in for a "special appointment!" Neither Susan or Elly can believe that Karl would go to get Botox injections and Sheila suggests they wait and see but she is betting that when he arrives home, his face "will be as smooth as a baby's bottom!"
Backpackers
"It will blow over," Leo says trying to convince his dad that Mark will have dropped his investigation since there was nothing in it. Paul seems to think otherwise but Leo tells him to do the worrying.
"Was I your alibi?!" Mishti asks when she arrives at the backpackers and spots Leo. He replies "no" but she thinks it's too much of a coincidence everything happened while they were on their date. "I didn't frame Nick," he pleads and thinks because of how he's said things to Amy, she has reason to disbelieve him.
MISHTI: Why not?
LEO: I know this is going to sound dodgy but it's just a really complicated situation.
Yip, she isn't buying it!
LEO: I didn't do it, I swear.
MISHTI: Suddenly your word's not meaning a whole lot to me.
Number 28
As soon as Karl is through the door, he is pounced upon by Susan, Elly and Sheila wanting answers. He tries to tell them that he was simply getting a massage from Courtney, can confirm that there is no Botox involved and doesn't know why Xanthe is sent packing when Courtney has her special guests. Sheila is still demanding to know why she is getting large tips and Karl replies that she is simply a good masseuse.
Lassiters Complex
Mishti runs into Sonya doing her community service while out running - she is helping make sure the place is spruced up for the liveability competition. With Leo conveniently also being in the complex, Mishti uses what Sonya is doing as a way to have a dig at him.
MISHTI: It's a pity there's no good way to make a guy like Leo clean up his act and even though it's clear, I don't want anything to do with him, here he comes now.
Right enough, he comes over to talk to her but barely gets a word out before he's told to cross the street or walk the other way if he sees her!
Lassiters Spa
Courtney thinks Susan has come to talk to her about the cream she mentioned in The Waterhole but in fact she is here for a massage after the excellent one Karl received. "I'll have a look for a therapist," Courtney quickly says but Susan is only after her as she is the best. Courtney just about shoves her out of the premises after explaining she is fully booked up for the next few weeks although does offer to put her on the waiting list.
Terese's office
"I've had it with him," Amy tells Terese and thinks they should put the pressure on Paul so that he comes clean. Paul walks in just as she is saying that last part and tries to tell them that Leo didn't set Nick up.
PAUL: It was me. Yes, I did it. Leo was actually covering for me.
Amy demands to know if he put Leo up to it and Paul replies no before adding that he didn't actually admit anything. "He let me believe it was him," it dawns on Amy and an angry Terese is quick to remind them both that Nick was curing her cancer and now Paul has put him in jail. She knows he won't confess but since he did to them, she is off to tell the police.
PAUL: Look, you have to understand why I did it. There was no doubt in my mind that this wellness centre is just an avenue for Nick to start treating patients again on the sly.
AMY: So you're punishing him for something you think he's going to do?
PAUL: No, I know he's going to do it but the problem is you've become too emotionally involved to see that.
Amy thought her dad had changed but he's not, the Mannix thing was the first sign of him returning to his old tricks "but this is proof." He tries to suggest that the two situations are completely different but Amy doesn't think so - what he did to Nick was far worse! Paul pleads that everything he does is with his family in mind but she points out that it's at the cost of others.
AMY: You are ruthless and remorseless and you couldn't care less!!!
PAUL: Oh Amy!
AMY: No, clearly this is who you are and who you'll always be.
Number 28
Karl finishes making an appointment (for Thursday) with Courtney (she feels that he needs more work done) just as just as Susan arrives home. She is curious to know how he managed to get an appointment given she couldn't get one as Courtney was supposedly booked out for weeks. Karl thinks its perhaps because he's a regular client and is reminded he's only been regular for 3 hours! Changing tact, he tries to suggest that Susan might not see the same results as he did and perhaps should see her own physio and can't escape the grilling Susan (and Elly) are trying to give him quick enough to check on his durians!
ELLY: Weird!
SUSAN: Very!
Penthouse suite
As they arrive home, Amy wants Paul to turn himself in. "Yeah, like I'm going to do that!" is his reply and her comeback is that he obviously doesn't care what she thinks of him.
AMY: If you loved me you'd confess.
PAUL: And if you loved me, you wouldn't make me do it.
He tries to turn the emotional thumbscrews by pointing out that if he confesses, and is charged, then he could end up back in jail. "Is that what you want?!" Amy thinks that money can buy him out of that mess.
AMY: If you don't confess of your own accord, me and Jimmy are packing up our things and we're moving out.
