Number 24
Tyler arrives home from the police station after hearing his official charges. He expects a lecture from Mark about his irresponsible behaviour, but Mark is uncharacteristically supportive. Tyler says that Toadie will be around in the morning to help him and he apologises to Mark for having a bone to pick with T-Bone without enough evidence. It turns out T-Bone was calling Piper to say sorry but didn't have enough reception where he was, hence the creepy breathing. He also sent her an apology gift in the mail. Tyler heads off to bed, while Aaron (who has been making tea in the background) serves some truth tea to Mark.
AARON: It's interesting.
MARK: What?
AARON: Well he did something wrong and you were nice.
MARK: Yeah, well, we all do crazy things for people we love.
Number 22
The next morning Xanthe and Finn are having a chat about school in the backyard, but Finn ushers Xanthe to a hidden corner in case Terese comes home unexpectedly. Xanthe tells him that she visited Piper last night to gift her some earplugs and an eye mask so she could get some sleep. Finn smiles and says that Xanthe's a very caring and thoughtful person, which makes Xanthe happy. Finn gets a text from Susan about a Year 12 teachers staff meeting before school so he has to head off, but not before he plants more seeds in Xanthe's head about Susan being a tyrant.
Erinsborough Hospital
PJ-clad David is visiting bedridden Piper while they commiserate on their lack of sleep in the hospital. David receives a text from Aaron and ignores it, asking Piper how many he can ignore in a row before it's considered rude. David confesses to Piper that he heard Aaron say he wanted to be with him while Aaron thought he was still comatose.
PIPER: That's great! Look at us; we'll both be dating Brennan brothers. We'll both end up at Christmas dinner together.
DAVID: Yeah I don't think so. I could tell he just felt sorry for me.
PIPER: Really?
DAVID: Why else would he change his mind so suddenly?
Before Piper can talk sense into him, Ben arrives for a visit. Piper's happy to see her friend initially, but not so much when Ben tells her Tyler's been "arrested for beating up T-Bone."
Number 22
Toadie reads out Tyler's charges to all three Brennan brothers, which are "intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury and unlawful assault." Toadie doesn't like Tyler's chances in front of a magistrate and says that he can talk to the prosecutor and see if they'll lessen the charges for a guilty plea. Tyler sighs and says once Lucas finds out he'll probably lose his job, but Toadie says he'll call Lucas and explain the circumstances. He also suggests Tyler take an anger management course. Toadie leaves just as Paul arrives to have a chat with Aaron about visiting David. Aaron says he sent David a few texts and didn't hear back.
PAUL: You do want to see him, right?
AARON: Yeah absolutely.
PAUL: Well stop mucking around with texts, go and surprise him.
AARON: You think?
PAUL: I want what's best for my son. You're good for him.
Erinsborough High
Susan addresses all the Year 12 teachers in her office (including Wayne, who I thought had been shipped off to Narnia) and congratulates them on a job well done. The Department have conducted their five-year review and Erinsborough High has been rated one of the top schools in the district (yes, even with a student burning it down, more than one teacher-student scandal and having Brad Willis on staff. Go team!). Finn puts on a big show of congratulating Susan on a job well done, and how great her leadership is, but Susan and Elly can smell something rotten and it's not just Wayne's cologne.
Number 32
Mark chats with Mishti to try and work out why she was so adamant in reporting Tyler's assault to the cops. Mishti says she had a moral obligation, but Mark says her analysis at the crash site and her behaviour when Yashvi was being questioned was way too well informed for just a general member of the public.
MARK: I'm guessing you're a cop?
MISHTI: Used to be. So now you understand why I had to report Tyler.
MARK: Why didn't you just speak to him about it?
MISHTI: I did! I asked him to turn himself in but he refused. Didn't leave me with a lot of options.
MARK: OK, fair enough. So why'd you quit?
MISHTI: Blue makes my skin look washed out. So is that it?
MARK: ... Yeah I'll leave you to it.
Erinsborough High
Elly asks Finn how things with Xanthe are going and if she's respecting the boundaries. Finn says that Xanthe understands the situation and that she's a good kid. Once Elly leaves, Finn catches up with Wayne and tells him a lie that he wasn't the one who dobbed to the Department and set the wheels in motion to get Wayne fired as assistant principal. Finn also lies and says he only got the job because Susan wanted a "yes-man" and he knows Wayne's much too opinionated for that. He plays Wayne like a fiddle and tells him he could be principal one day - if only the school didn't hire people like Susan who only looked out for their own. Panto moustache twirl. Finn out.
Erinsborough Hospital
Aaron pops in to see David with a gift - he heard the food was pretty decent in the hospital, so he brought him a tin of no-name spaghetti to lower the standard. Aaron was worried about surprising him with a visit since David didn't reply to his texts, but David was embarrassed because he acted like a "massive idiot" during their last conversation. Aaron starts to talk about the secret 'I like you speech' that's not-so-secret, but is interrupted by David's nurse Will, who is very flirty and chatty with David. Aaron starts to feel like a third wheel while Will checks David's vitals and says he should probably go. David says Aaron doesn't have to leave but Will basically gives off 'gtfo' vibes to Aaron so he says he'll catch David later.
Garage
Ben assures Tyler that Lucas won't fire him but Tyler says he's already used up all his chances with him. Mishti pops by and says she might be able to help. Tyler's angry and confused by her appearance, but Mishti says she got Lucas's number off Toadie and called him to explain the situation - Tyler still has his job.
TYLER: Why would you do that?
MISHTI: Because I've been in your situation before, you deserve a break.
TYLER: I'm only in this situation because you put me in it.
MISHTI: You're in this situation because you assaulted someone!
TYLER: Am I missing something here? Because I just cannot get my head around you.
MISHTI: I used to be a cop.
TYLER: Right. You didn't think to mention that before you convinced me to chase after the bad guy?
MISHTI: I didn't think you were going to smack him! I'm sorry, but if I see something like that I have to report it. But I'm also fair so I'll happily make a statement that the guy provoked you. Maybe that will get the charges down or even dropped?
TYLER: So if you think I should get off, why report me in the first place? Why not just let it go?
MISHTI: Because when people go rogue bad things happen. I get that you're trying to protect the person you love but it's easy for it to go too far.
Erinsborough High
Susan finds Xanthe doing some schoolwork alone in a classroom and asks her how Piper's doing. Xanthe says that she's feeling a lot better now she's sleeping. They're about to leave the classroom when Susan finds a copy of the Year 12 English mid-year exam sitting on another desk. Xanthe's adamant that she has nothing to do with it and Susan believes her, but is concerned when she finds out that Elly was the teacher who was last using the classroom.
Later, Susan calls Elly into her office to ask about the exam. Elly says it wasn't her - she hasn't even printed out a copy of the file. Susan says they'll have to get to the bottom of it asap and Elly offers to go and check the other classrooms to make sure no other copies are lying around.
Out in the hallway Finn is filling Wayne's head with more ammo against Susan, telling him about the exam paper that was found. Wayne knows it'll get pinned on him somehow, "everything gets pinned on me", but Finn says Elly is the number one suspect. He tells Wayne that at their old school Elly worded up the students about what was going to be on the exam and then marked them very generously. "But you watch, Susan will cover it up and she'll get away with it again." Wayne thinks Finn should speak up but Finn says it wouldn't be a good look coming from the ex-boyfriend. Wayne unwittingly follows Finn's script perfectly and says maybe he'll have a word to Susan.
Harold's Café
Mishti tells Shane that she might be in the bad books with the neighbours for reporting Tyler to the cops for assault. Shane asks if Tyler knows her reasons for doing so and Mishti says he knows she used to be a cop, but doesn't know why she quit. "I'd rather just keep that in the family."
Aaron's having a coffee with Sheila and telling her about the David/Will situation. Sheila realises it's the same Will who used to date Chris Pappas.
SHEILA: [Will] was good at his job but he did have a teensy rep for cracking onto his patients.
AARON: A teensy rep?
SHEILA: Mmm, well, he'd hit on anything with a pulse. David won't like that.
AARON: Well he doesn't seem to be minding!
Erinsborough Hospital
Piper has her arm around Tyler while he apologises for his actions. He says he didn't think he'd hit anyone again after he hit his dad but he's obviously got a violent streak in him. Tyler's worried he'll turn out like his dad. Piper says he won't, but Tyler doesn't seem placated. He then explains to Piper that T-Bone called her to apologise and sent her a parcel too, which he gives her. Piper opens it to find a bottle of Canadian maple syrup inside. Hopefully there's a 'sorry for being an arrogant macho douchebag!' card in there too.
Aaron has brought some takeaway coffees to share with David but he sees David and Will through the window already sharing a coffee. Will does the old, 'oh you've got some froth on your face let me get that for you' move. Paul's pleased to see Aaron in the corridor and asks how David's doing, but Aaron just points to the window and says he should ask the "friendly nurse Will" instead. Aaron sighs and says he knows he's not wanted here.
Lassiter's Complex
Finn finds Xanthe and makes up a lie about leaving his watch in Elly's room last time he was there. It's very important to him because it was a gift from his dearly departed dad but he doesn't feel comfortable going around to ask for it. Xanthe says she could get Ben to grab it, but when Finn doesn't like that idea, Xanthe then says she knows where the spare key is and she could keep watch while he goes in. Finn smiles and then convinces her to go to #28 during their lunch break when no one will be home.
Erinsborough Hospital
Will is suddenly acting frosty towards David because 'someone' reported him for acting inappropriately with a patient so now he's been delegated to night shifts for eight weeks. David protests that it wasn't him but Will won't believe him - if David wasn't interested he should have just said so!
Ramsay Street/Number 28/Erinsborough High
Xanthe stands guard out on the street while Finn snoops through Elly's room. There's almost a close call when Ben arrives home, but Xanthe convinces him to walk her back to school instead. Turns out Finn's been looking for Elly's grading sheet of a recent Year 11 exam and he starts to change all of her low marks for students into higher ones.
While all this is happening, Wayne steps into Susan's office (just after she takes one of her vitamins/pills) and says he's there to make a formal complaint against Elly for using dishonest and unethical methods to boost her students marks.
