Charlie's
Susan comes in to talk to Sarah, who immediately assumes it's because Karl has told her the extent of their affair and almost gives the game away. However, Susan only wants to talk about the last edition of the Erinsborough News, much to Sarah's relief. They discuss work for a while, but as Susan leaves, Sarah asks if she's seen Karl. Susan says she has, but wants to know why Sarah's asking. Sarah makes an excuse, but Susan leaves, suspicious of what Sarah meant.
Erinsborough Hospital (flat)
Lucas and Vanessa talk about Patrick; it sounds as though Lucas is more at ease being around his son now. They also discuss their relationship being the 'talk of the town', but decide they don't care, and kiss. Vanessa goes to express some milk for Patrick, while Lucas goes off to run a mystery errand - but won't tell Vanessa what it is.
No 30
Angie questions Callum about his friendship with Rani; she makes no secret of the fact she suspects it's more than that. Keen to evade further questioning, he heads off for his shift at the nursery, bidding goodbye to Sonya and Nell. Georgia comes in looking for her phone, and Angie tells her she should use it to call Scotty and tell him she's changed his mind about breaking up. Angie points out all Scotty's positive attributes, but Georgia doesn't want an interrogation either, and heads out to work. Sonya then gets a text from Penelope, who's been looking after the nursery - she's sick today. Sonya prepares to take Nell to work with her, but Angie insists Nell can stay with her. Sonya grudgingly agrees.
No 28
Karl is on the phone to Susan; she wants to come round to discuss all their joint assets, but he thinks it's a bit soon. Sarah turns up, wanting to know why Karl didn't tell Susan about their sleeping together. He explains about the divorce papers, and Sarah sympathises; now they're both in agreement about not causing Susan more hurt by telling her the truth. Sarah offers to stay and keep Karl company, but he declines. She again says she's sorry, and leaves.
Sonya's Nursery
Callum tries to convince Sonya that Penelope is probably skiving, while Sonya is oddly engrossed in her laptop. It turns out she's installed a webcam back at No 30, and it's trained on Angie and Nell! Sonya insists it's just for safety, but Callum is appalled at the breach of privacy, sarcastically suggesting she wire up cameras in every room.
No 30
At that moment Angie spots the webcam and tells Sonya remotely that she doesn't need supervising - everything's under control!
Sonya's Nursery
Sonya and Cal watch on the screen as Angie disconnects the webcam. Cal tells Sonya she's in trouble.
Harold's
Susan enquires with Vanessa about Patrick (he's getting stronger), and sticks her beak in about Vanessa and Lucas (they're getting stronger too), before Georgia calls Susan over and invites her to sit down. Georgia proceeds to pick Susan's brain about Angie, and her view that Georgia should get back with Scotty. It's made Georgia think twice about whether she made the right decision.
SUSAN: I think you know in yourself if the time's right.
GEORGIA: Really? Scotty and I have been together for ages.
SUSAN: You just have to ask yourself, "Do I see a future in it?"
GEORGIA: Is that how it was for you and Karl?
The conversation moves on to Toadie's view that Susan and Karl are made for each other. Georgia asks if Susan's ever had second thoughts about splitting up with Karl; Susan avoids the question.
SUSAN: I'm saying that every relationship is unique. But at some point you have to stop looking back, and try and find a new way forward.
No 28
Susan shows up to go through the marriage assets with Karl. He's booked a valuation for the house, and has details of all their other assets - but the conversation quickly becomes uncomfortable, especially when Karl talks about buying Susan out of the house. As they sit down to discuss the details, Susan finds Sarah's scarf on the floor. Karl quickly begins explaining it away, but Susan doesn't want to talk about it. Karl says he understands why Susan would have a problem with him seeing Sarah, even innocently, and wants to talk about it.
KARL: And maybe there are some things I need to say too.
SUSAN: Anything we needed to say about Sarah Beaumont was said years ago.
Karl questions the timing of Susan handing him the divorce papers, suggesting it has something to do with Sarah's return. But Susan insists the two issues aren't related, and grabs the scarf, saying she'll give it back to Sarah. They start going through the shares, uncomfortably.
Sonya's Nursery
Sonya is trying to call Angie, but her phone is going to voicemail. Cal sarcastically reassures her that Angie's had lots of experience raising babies, but Sonya can't accept Angie knows what she's doing. Cal tells her to chill out.
Harold's
Lucas comes in with a surprise for Vanessa; he's taken some photos of Patrick, and he's going to enter them into the photo competition which the Erinsborough News is running for its last edition. Vanessa thinks it's a good idea, tells Lucas she's proud of him, and kisses him.
Erinsborough News
Sarah asks Susan for some documentation, and Susan duly brings it into the office - along with Sarah's scarf.
SARAH: That's mine!
SUSAN: Yes, you left it at Karl's.
SARAH: Oh, I just dropped by for a quick talk. It was an innocent conversation.
SUSAN: ...
SARAH: Why am I apologising?
SUSAN: Well you obviously have something to feel guilty about.
SARAH: I don't! I've been nothing but honest with you since I arrived here. I've tried so hard to make the best of a bad situation. But it doesn't matter what I do; you keep jumping to the wrong conclusions. Frankly I'm tired of the way you're treating me.
SUSAN: The way I'm treating you?
SARAH: And you're treating Karl just as badly. I feel sorry for him; he deserves better.
SUSAN: Better? Meaning you?
SARAH: You see, you just won't let it go.
SUSAN: It may not have been your choice to come here, but you're clearly making the most of it - can we at least agree on that?
SARAH: I'm allowed to care about Karl.
SUSAN: Oh, please. If you want Karl and he's stupid enough to be sucked in again, go for it, you can have him. But let's call this what it is. I have played these games too many times before.
Susan storms out, leaving Sarah frustrated.
Sonya's Nursery
Sonya decides she's going home to find Angie, as she's still not answering her phone. She shouts to Callum to close up the till for her.
No 30
Later on, Georgia comes in to find Sonya panicking - she's been driving around looking for them, but Angie and Nell are nowhere to be found. Just then, Angie comes in with Nell in the pram - she's had her phone on silent because she doesn't like the noise! Sonya starts laying down ground rules about Angie being contactable when she has Nell, but Angie turns it back on Sonya, saying she needs to have more faith in her. Angie bustles off, and Sonya tells Georgia she's had enough of Angie.
No 28
Sarah turns up to tell Karl about her row with Susan. Karl's frustrated; Susan keeps telling him she's fine, but her attitude towards Sarah strongly suggests otherwise. Sarah insists she didn't mean to turn up and cause trouble; Karl says he knows that, and fetches her a glass of wine!
Erinsborough Hospital (flat)
Lucas hurts his leg while putting up the camp- bed, so Vanessa invites him to join her in the double bed. He does, and they cuddle up together, discussing Patrick's progress. Lucas regrets not holding him for so long, and asks Vanessa what her favourite thing is about Patrick - but she's fallen fast asleep.
No 28
Sarah and Karl continue to drink red wine and chat about their lives. Sarah is having problems with her kids, Angus and Antigone, following the break- up of her marriage to Peter. Nonetheless, the pair agree that children are a blessing. Sarah admits she rushed into marrying Peter too soon after her fling with Karl.
KARL: I always thought you and Peter had a real chance.
SARAH: Karl, you kissed me on my wedding day.
KARL: Yes, I'm sincerely sorry about that.
SARAH: What was that movie? Sliding Doors. Strange how your life can turn on one tiny decision.
KARL: Yes. Life's full of what ifs, isn't it?
SARAH: I wonder what would have happened to me if I hadn't married Peter. Or if I'd never left Australia. Who I'd have ended up with.
KARL: I think about that too. I've spent nights turning it over in my head. What I would have done differently if I had the chance. After you moved away things were very difficult for Susan and I. We worked it out eventually.
SARAH: But it didn't last.
KARL: No. Sometimes I wonder if we should have called it quits then and there. Seen the writing on the wall. We'd have led different lives, and been with different people. But, the world keeps turning, doesn't it?
Sarah leans in and kisses Karl on the lips.
