- Leo spies a copy of the safety report in Chloe's bag at the rooftop pool
- Later, he furiously confronts Terese, accusing her of being responsible for Britney's death
The Penthouse
We pick up where we left off, with Leo, Terese, Paul and Chloe. Chloe tells Leo the report is a review into Lassiter's internal procedures, not about placing blame.
LEO (furious): But it does! (to Terese) You could've cleared the Flamingo Bar - you had an evacuation order and you didn't take action!
CHLOE: It was only for a moment - it wasn't long enough to change anything.
PAUL: Does somebody want to tell me what the hell's happening?
LEO: Don't pretend you didn't know about this! You were gonna cover it up! (to Chloe) And that's why you pretended the report wasn't ready.
CHLOE: I told you it wasn't ready because you're not in the right frame of mind to hear it right now! You're on a witch-hunt!
LEO: Yeah, and I've found her.
PAUL: Oh, no, Leo, that's enough.
TERESE: No, wait - he has a right to be angry. If I hadn't hesitated, then maybe... maybe things would have been different.
LEO (tearful): And Abigail wouldn't be growing up without her mother! You're gonna pay for what you've done.
Leo storms out, and Paul demands to know what he's missed.
Shortly afterwards, Paul and Terese talk in his bedroom. She explains that she was distracted by seeing Glen and Sharon leaving the hotel together when the call from Jim from maintenance came through, telling her to evacuate.
TERESE: I could've got some people out of there.
PAUL: How? The place was in full-on party mode. Now, it was your decision to relocate the party, and I know that that has weighed heavily on your mind - but it shouldn't, alright? And all this extra torment -
TERESE: But I was the one that was in charge, Paul. People trusted me! And now Britney's dead, and you're injured.
PAUL: Is that why you moved in here? Cos you feel responsible for my injury?
TERESE: I suppose there's some guilt to a certain extent, but... I'm also here because I care for you.
The Waterhole
Freya and Levi are at the bar, discussing a movie they've been to see. Levi was more enamoured with the film than Freya was, it seems. Levi says the film was 'poetic'.
FREYA (teasing): What would you know about poetry?
SHEILA (appearing): Levi is a man of surprising depth, you know - like a Japanese bathtub.
Sheila is still visibly very keen on Levi and Freya's new acquaintance, and invites Freya round for dinner tonight.
SHEILA: I am making my famous Canning seafood basket.
FREYA: Yeah. Sure!
LEVI (not keen): Oh, oh, I am so sorry - I actually just remembered, I have heaps of paperwork to do tonight.
He suggests to Freya that they make up for it by going swimming tomorrow instead, at the hotel pool. She agrees, while also being careful to suck up to Sheila for her initial invitation. Levi's alarm goes off, reminding him to take his epilepsy meds, and he swallows his tablets. Freya heads off.
SHEILA: She is a real catch. Shame you've got work to do tonight.
LEVI: I don't. I made it up.
SHEILA: Why would you do that?
LEVI: Because I'm trying to keep things chill, Gran. Things are going great.

Leo has an ensemble intervention waiting for him when he gets home with Abigail - comprising David, Aaron, Nicolette, Jane and Chloe.
LEO (to Chloe, angrily): What are you doing here?
David says Chloe just wants to talk, but Leo's exhausted and not in the mood. However...
CHLOE: Terese doesn't deserve your anger. There's no way she could've evacuated anyone before the pole fell.
LEO: Yeah, trust you to toe the company line.
CHLOE: Police investigators read the same report you did, and interviewed everyone involved, and they cleared Terese.
LEO: Yeah, doesn't mean she's innocent.
CHLOE: That's exactly what it means.
LEO: Yeah, well - we'll see what Toadie has to say when I see him about suing tomorrow.
David, Aaron, Jane and Nicolette try to convince him this isn't the way forward. But Leo isn't convinced.
LEO: It was negligence, and it took Britney's life!
He storms out to put Abigail to bed. Everyone else looks worried.
Lassiter's Rooftop Pool
The next day, Levi and Freya are changing into their costumes to have a swim.
FREYA: It's a pretty good view.
LEVI (checking her out): Yeah.
Freya laughs as she notices him staring, so Levi adjusts his line of sight to the panorama instead.
LEVI: It *is* a great view, yeah. I'm so sorry, that was...
FREYA (flirtatious): It's okay. I don't mind. Let's cool off.
They leap into the pool, and we see them splashing about via an underwater camera! No expense spared this year, it seems! Freya proposes a swimming race - the first who makes it to five laps, buys lunch.

Nicolette is making a shopping list, and asks David, Aaron and Jane if there's anything she's missed.
AARON: Bananas. For Isla's power smoothies.
JANE: You're not seriously giving her power smoothies, are you?
AARON (joking): No, of course not. She prefers her protein shakes.
Leo comes in with Abigail, and the atmosphere is still tense. He's heading straight to work; Aaron asks what's happening with Abigail today, and David offers for them to take her. But Leo rather abruptly says she's coming with him again, saying he handled it yesterday. He walks out, and Jane has to follow him as he's forgotten the baby formula.
David remarks that Leo was up all night watching TV; he's clearly not coping. Aaron and Nicolette agree, but Nic says that coming on strong with Leo isn't the way to go.
DAVID: Then what is? Because he's gonna break.
Lassiter's Rooftop Pool
Levi and Freya are getting dried after their swim; she's beaten him in the race.
LEVI: Maybe you're part-dolphin.
As he's getting changed, Levi's bottle of pills falls out of his clothes, and Freya passes them back to him. He feels compelled to explain why he takes them, despite Freya telling him he doesn't need to. He says she may as well know; he has epilepsy, due to the brain injury he sustained when he was a kid.
The Penthouse
Paul and Terese are having breakfast. Having read the accident report himself now, Paul reassures Terese again that she is not to blame for what happened.
PAUL: Even if you had acted immediately, there's no chance you could've saved anyone. Now, the call came too late. Besides, you were focused on making sure that Glen and Sharon were okay.
TERESE (guiltily): Paul, there's, umm... there's something that you should know. When I was following them, I assumed they were gonna get together again. And I was jealous.
Paul, who has been touching Terese's arm in reassurance, pulls his hand away.
TERESE: You know, maybe we shouldn't talk about it. The last thing you need is getting worked up.
PAUL: No, I'm not gonna get worked up. I just want to understand what went on with you two.
TERESE: ... Well, there were sparks. And when I saw him go off with Sharon, it... it hurt. But I've hardly spoken to him since that night.
PAUL (sadly): Alright, well... thank you for being honest.
TERESE: Are we gonna be okay?
He puts his hand on her arm again.
PAUL: You know, I want this to work between us. And that means we support each other, no matter what.
But he continues to look despondent at what he's heard, and Terese looks guilty.
Lassiter's Rooftop Pool
Freya has now heard the full story about Levi being beaten up as a child, and is making sympathetic noises. She asks if his attackers went to prison; he explains the families decided to keep it between themselves at the time, but that he tracked down two of the ringleaders recently (Mitch and Nelson) and arrested them for other crimes.
FREYA: Okay, wait, so... you just look 'em up, and then five minutes later, they're locked up?
LEVI: Mm-hm.
FREYA: It's pretty convenient.
LEVI: Well, they broke the law.
FREYA: And you just... happened to be there?
LEVI: I was surveilling them. My actions weren't strictly by the book. I... I did some stuff I regret. Things that almost got me fired. It's funny, those idiots - they started my career and then almost ended it, too.
Despite a lightness in her manner, it seems like Freya is very interested in this information, and encourages Levi to tell her everything about it. But he's reluctant to go into more detail, saying it wasn't his best 'cop moment'.
FREYA: You can't always be perfect. Besides, who the hell am I gonna tell?
Leo's Winery
Glen and Leo are clearing tables after a busy evening the night before. Leo says he has to go and call Toadie, so Glen says he and the other staff can finish up here.
LEO: I think I can sue Terese for negligence.
GLEN: Why would you wanna do that?
LEO: Well, it turns out she was too busy to do her job that night. Something else was more important than getting to the bar and clearing that room.
GLEN: Yeah, but if she'd gone in any earlier, she would've been caught up in the collapse. The investigation's over; if she wasn't to blame, you need to move on.
LEO (angry): Why should I?! Look, her behaviour was inexcusable! She's been negligent - she needs to pay!
GLEN: You're consumed with grief, I get it. But lashing out at Terese isn't gonna help. Think of Abigail - is all this hatred really what's best for her?
But Leo just walks away.
The Waterhole
Sheila is clearing tables when Kyle and Roxy turn up behind her, back from their honeymoon.
ROXY (posh voice): One reservation for a Mr and Mrs Horndog, please.
Sheila is thrilled to see them back and asks how it went. Roxy explains they had loads of activities booked - mountain-biking, wine-tasting, skydiving...
KYLE: And we didn't do any of 'em.
ROXY: Because we were too busy doing each other.
SHEILA: Oh, I don't need a nookie report!
Sheila also warns Roxy not to provide similar detail to the customers when she starts back at work.
SHEILA: Tell them you were playing golf.
KYLE: Actually, I did hit a few hole-in-ones!
SHEILA: Oh, please, spare me!
Conversation moves to Levi and Freya, as Sheila tells Kyle and Roxy they're still seeing one another.
SHEILA: They're on like a pair of thongs.
Sheila adds that Freya is very pretty, funny and that she and Freya 'get on like a house on fire'.
KYLE: She's not dating you, Gran.
SHEILA: I know that! Doesn't hurt for me to have an opinion, though, does it?
Leo's Winery
Glen is hosing down the patio. He gets out his phone and considers calling Terese, but then thinks better of it and continues his work.
Lassiter's Hotel
In the office, Chloe apologises to Terese for the way things turned out with Leo and the safety report. Terese hopes he'll calm down eventually. Jane turns up to check on Terese, having heard about what's happened. She tells Terese that Leo's seeking legal advice with the aim of taking it further.
TERESE: Right. Well, I'll have to be ready for that.
CHLOE: As long as you don't buy into what he's saying.
TERESE: Well, Paul's bene really supportive, which is quite surprising, given his son is at the centre of everything.
JANE: Well, he'll do anything to get you back.
CHLOE: Explains why he's so committed to marriage counselling.
TERESE: Look, Paul's doing his best to be open and genuine. And even yesterday, we had a huge breakthrough, so I'm hoping for more. We're really working on things.
JANE: Well, I hope that it all pays off, I really do. We all just want you to be happy.
Leo's Winery
David turns up in his car, and asks Glen how Leo's been doing. Glen says he's pretty set on bringing down Terese. Leo emerges from the building with Abigail, and is none too thrilled to see David's come to check up on him. David offers to take Abigail home so Leo can concentrate better on his work.
LEO: Seriously, this again, David? You always think you know best, don't you?
DAVID: I'm just trying to make it easier for you.
LEO: Yeah, well, if we need help we'll ask for it (...) Just go home, okay? Abi and me are fine on our own.
The Waterhole
Levi and Freya have joined Kyle and Roxy for lunch, and Sheila attempts to insert herself into the conversation by fussing around them, offering drinks and dessert.
LEVI (sarcastic): You know what? Why don't you just pull up a chair?
SHEILA (pulls up a chair): Don't mind if I do!
Roxy declares Freya 'awesome' (a sentiment agreed upon by Sheila) and invites her to join them for a game of street cricket this afternoon, which we learn that Toadie is organising.
LEVI (to Freya): No pressure. This lot can be so annoying.
FREYA: I love annoying! I'll just duck home and get changed.
Freya heads off, and Roxy, Sheila and Kyle grill Levi for more details on his date with her.
Lassiter's Complex
Outside the pub, Freya takes out her phone and begins to type in a web search - 'levi canning assault', apparently seeking more information on his past.
The Penthouse
Paul is sitting in bed watching TV, with Terese sitting next to him - she is on top of the blanket, not underneath it, to show she's simply keeping him company, not cosying up with him. She suggests they watch another movie.
PAUL: Yeah, I'm always up for a bit of Mad Max.
TERESE: What, is that why you run your Lassiter's meetings like the Thunderdome?
PAUL: Hey, business is a bloodsport - you know that!
Paul says he left a message on Leo's phone before, but he hasn't come back to him. Paul's feeling bad for Leo, saying he's so distraught he can't think straight.
TERESE: Well, he's dealing with a huge loss.
PAUL: Yeah, and he's putting it all onto you.
TERESE: It's fine. I've accepted that there wasn't enough warning to evacuate everyone from the bar. But Leo does have a point; I was putting my own needs before others at a very critical time.
PAUL: Come on, you're human. This happens, okay? I just want Leo to let go of his anger, and you to let go of your guilt, so you can move on. That's what I want for both of you.
This prompts Terese to give Paul an affectionate hug, which backfires as it causes him pain from his injury site. She fusses with his cushions to make him more comfortable until the twinge passes.
PAUL: I like this.
TERESE: What, me fussing over you?
PAUL: Yeah, us caring for each other - looking after each other. Feels kind of nice.
TERESE: It does, doesn't it?
They hold hands and Terese touches his face affectionately.
No 32
David is back home with Aaron and Jane. Aaron thinks that David driving to the vineyard to check on Leo was a bit extreme. He thinks David should perhaps back off and give Leo some space.
AARON: You need to wait for him to come to you.
DAVID: Like I have a choice!
Leo comes back in with Abigail; he's decided to work from home today after all. Aaron encourages him to join them for a barbecue outside, and Leo says he will once he's made some phone calls.
Once the others have all left the room, Leo puts Abigail on the couch.
LEO (to Abigail): Look, I know yesterday was terrible. But it can only get better for us, right? Tomorrow will be better, I promise. We've just got to soldier on and keep our chins up, hey?
His mobile phone rings on the table, and Leo gets up to answer it. Almost immediately, we hear a thud - and when Leo turns around, Abigail is on the floor, crying, having fallen from the sofa.
Coming up on Neighbours
- Leo is beside himself at the hospital, feeling guilty about Abigail; Aaron tells him it was an accident
