Lassiters Hotel Penthouse
Harlow and Paul continue to look confused by Terese's abrupt decision to move in, but Terese says she wants to help look after Paul. "I'm here to help you both," Terese states, adding that she's already spoken to Karl to get herself up to speed. "Unless you don't want me here," Terese says, to which Paul hastily replies that they're glad to have her around. While Terese settles herself into the spare room, Paul appears in a state of shock and awe. Harlow encourages Paul to take it all at face value - he and Terese did spend a lot of time together at the hospital.
PAUL: Yeah, but moving in here? That's completely different.
HARLOW: Either way you really need to concentrate on getting better.
PAUL: Yeah. I guess with Terese here it frees you up, doesn't it.
HARLOW: To do what?
PAUL: Anything you want. Work, play, anything that isn't nursing me back to health. Bit of a win-win for both of us really, isn't it?
HARLOW: (forcing a smile) Yeah, totally.
Number 32
Glen tells Leo that he's struggling to find a contractor to assess the damage the storm caused at the vineyard. Apparently the storm ripped through the whole wine region and everyone's slammed. Glen thinks they should delay the installation of the distillery, but Leo isn't onboard with that option. When Abigail starts to cry in Leo's arms, Aaron offers to take her if he wants to keep working, but Leo says he's fine. David can't believe Leo wants to head out to the winery so soon after the memorial, but Leo tells him he'll only be there for an hour. He goes to grab a baby bottle off the bench, stopping when Nicolette informs him that it's milk she's just expressed for Isla. Everyone continues to look concerned when Leo keeps refusing help from them.
The Flamingo Bar Exterior
A mystery woman (who is listed in the credits as Freya), checks out the wreckage of the bar. She glances around then ducks under the police tape to get a closer look. Levi spies her from across the way and yells out that she can't be in there. Freya apologises and leaves the scene.
Number 22/Lassiters Hotel Penthouse
Toadie and Melanie are having a catch up with Glen while he preps dinner. They tell him Nell and Hugo have been having a great time decorating the cast on Mackenzie's arm, but Mac's lucky a broken limb was the worst of her injuries. Toadie wonders if Glen heard that Paul's been discharged from hospital. Glen says he was visiting Paul earlier and tried to sort a few things out.
MELANIE: Good for you for making the first move. (To Toadie) You could take a leaf with Amy.
TOADIE: Well, yeah, it's not as easy as I thought it would be really.
MELANIE: (explaining to Glen) She's in hospital with broken ribs and he sends flowers like he's her boss, not her best friend.
Changing the subject, Toadie realises Glen's cooking up a storm and wonders if it's all for him and Terese. Glen admits he wanted to do something nice for her as she's been through a lot lately. He then gives a Terese a call to see what her ETA might be.
Terese is standing alone on the penthouse balcony taking in the view when her phone rings. She sighs when she sees it's Glen, but ends up answering. Glen tells her she's on speaker phone - Toadie and Mel offering cheery hellos - then asks when she'll be home for dinner. He's shocked when Terese tells him she won't be home as she's decided to move into the penthouse. Toadie and Mel look on awkwardly as Glen turns away to continue the conversation.
GLEN: For how long?
TERESE: I don't know. Harlow needs my help and it's close to work.
GLEN: Um, I mean if Paul needs that level of care, wouldn't a full-time nurse be a better option?
TERESE: It's the option that I've chosen, Glen.
GLEN: (stammering) Yeah, I'm just saying, I don't think it's the best idea.
TERESE: I've got to go. Have a good night.
Toadie and Mel don't quite know what to say to Glen when Terese hangs up.
Lassiters Hotel Penthouse - Paul's Room
Terese tells Paul off when she finds him working on emails in bed when he's meant to be resting. Paul replies that he's not about to bust his stitches over it, and then asks how Glen took the news of her moving in ("I heard you on the phone"). Terese says he was surprised, but changes the subject back to Paul working when he shouldn't be. She takes his laptop and paperwork and makes his bedding more comfortable, before telling him to yell out during the night if he needs anything.
PAUL: You always did take good care of me didn't you.
TERESE: We took care of each other.
PAUL: How are you feeling, Terese? I can get Harlow to clear out all the alcohol if you like?
TERESE: No, no need. I feel strong. The accident's made me realise what's important and what I need to focus on.
PAUL: Well, thanks. Thanks for being here.
TERESE: You can thank me by doing as you're told.
She confiscates his work items and bids him goodnight. Paul can't help smiling to himself, pleased to have Terese under the same roof again.
Erinsborough Hospital
Aaron doesn't get why David's rearranging his work hours to free up time to help Leo - who specifically said he doesn't want any help. David says he just wants to be there for his brother, and he also wants to prove that the best place for Leo and Abigail right now is at Number 32. Aaron understands but he doesn't think David should push Leo so hard. "That's why I'm doing this in stealth mode," David reasons. The boys then head out to go and check on Paul. When they leave, it's revealed that Freya is sitting in the waiting area. She approaches the nurse's desk and asks the staff member there if they'd be able to help her with something.
Lassiters Hotel Office
Chloe is surprised to find Harlow still dressed for work and not tending to her granddad. She's even more surprised to learn that Terese has moved into the penthouse to help look after Paul. Harlow tells Chloe that she's got loads of free time now, so she's more than happy to pick up extra shifts. Harlow crosses paths with Terese on her way out. Chloe comments to Terese that she's loving Harlow's "attitude transplant" lately, but isn't sure how long it's going to last. The women then talk about Terese's new change of address, and Terese says she was hoping to scale back on her work for a bit so she's free to assist Paul.
TERESE: He's been put under strict orders 'no work', so if anything comes in for him, make sure it goes through me first.
CHLOE: Roger that.
TERESE: Oh, and the insurance investigation on the Flamingo Bar has wrapped so now we're just waiting for the internal investigation and the coroner's report.
CHLOE: Okay I'll follow up. (Hesitantly) Terese - moving in with Paul?
TERESE: It's okay, Chloe. I know what I'm doing.
Number 22
Toadie and Mel are trying to engage Glen in a funny story about Hugo, but Glen's barely listening, too distracted thinking about Terese. Mel thinks it might be time to go and relieve Mackenzie and Hendrix of babysitting duties, but Toadie tells her to keep hanging with Glen and he'll go home instead. Once Toadie's gone, Mel encourages Glen to spill his guts.
GLEN: Things have been strained between Terese and I since the wedding. And I'm not sure if it's because of Sharon or because of something else.
MELANIE: Maybe now would be a good time for a little bit of self-reflection?
GLEN: Meaning?
MELANIE: (wiggling around her ring finger) You haven't exactly been honest with Terese. It must feel like a weight on your shoulders.
GLEN: Yeah.
MELANIE: Then focus on that. Own up to your own mistakes.
GLEN: Where would I even start?
MELANIE: With the truth. If you really do care about Terese, don't you owe her that?
The Flamingo Bar Exterior/Lassiters Complex
Freya is back at the wreckage site the next morning. With another cursory glance around, she ducks back under the tape and looks for something specific. It takes a little digging but she finally locates a scarf hidden under some of the mess. Levi just happens to be doing his rounds and sees Freya where she's not supposed to be. He calls out to her and gives chase when she bolts.
Freya runs through the park and thinks she's given Levi the slip when she reaches the shops, but Levi springs her around the corner. "Helps if you know the shortcuts," Levi states, looking down at the scarf Freya is holding.
Number 22
Terese has returned to pick up the jewellery box with her wedding ring inside. Glen registers what she's holding and says there's something he needs to tell her, but Terese says she's in no mood to talk about Sharon. As it turns out, neither is Glen.
GLEN: That was a mistake, a one off.
TERESE: Glen, I saw the two of you sneaking off together after the wedding, the night of the accident.
GLEN: No, she wanted to, I turned her down.
TERESE: But I saw you both leaving!
GLEN: I don't know what you saw but I went home alone.
TERESE: You know what, I'm sorry, this is none of my business. Your private life is your own.
GLEN: Terese-
TERESE: No, I've got to go back to Paul.
Glen looks defeated as Terese practically runs out of the house.
Lassiters Complex
Levi informs Freya that she can't just waltz off with an item from a crime scene, but Freya says it's something that belongs to her. Levi then says he'll need her name and address, but Freya knows her rights and tells him that she hasn't committed an offence so he can't ask her name or take her to the station. However, she does take note of his name and rank from his name tag.
LEVI: Were you at the bar the night it collapsed?
FREYA: No.
LEVI: Then how did you know the scarf was there?
FREYA: I was there earlier, I must have left it behind.
LEVI: Well I'm afraid I'll have to take it back.
FREYA: (annoyed) Really? Okay.
LEVI: As I said, it's part of an ongoing investigation. And withholding potential evidence? Well, that is an offence.
Freya reluctantly gives the scarf back. Levi says he can return it to her after the investigation if she'll give him her details, but Freya doesn't play along and just tells him to keep it. "You have a good day, Constable Canning," she smirks. Levi can't help a little bit of intrigue play across his face at this sassy stranger.
Lassiters Hotel Office
Harlow asks Chloe why her shift was deleted off the roster this morning, but Chloe apologises and says she did it for Harlow's own good. "You pulled a double yesterday," she explains. "I thought you could use the rest." Harlow says she'd rather work but Chloe doesn't want anyone on staff burning out. Harlow then gets startled when Chloe's phone beeps extremely loud. She has to take a breath to calm herself when she leaves the office.
Number 32
Toadie is offering his help to Leo if he'd like someone to babysit Abigail, as he is a self-professed "black belt in burping". Leo thanks him but says he's got everything under control. David and Aaron walk in and join Nicolette in the kitchen while Toadie and Leo are chatting. Nic asks how Paul was last night and Aaron comments that he was "chipper". David tells Leo that Paul sends his love, which reminds Leo that he needs to pop in and see his dad. Toadie offers help again, but Leo gets frustrated with Toadie.
TOADIE: It's okay to ask for help, I've been there.
LEO: No, no I'm sorry, you haven't. This situation is totally different.
TOADIE: Yes, yep, you're right. It is, I get it.
LEO: No, the point is you don't. Stop talking to me like you're an expert on what's happening in my life.
DAVID: (stepping in) Sorry Toad, it's been a stressful few days for everyone.
LEO: (angry) Hey, if that's you apologising on my behalf you can stop right there.
DAVID: We're all on your side.
LEO: Stop patronising me! Everywhere I turn I've got people trying to explain to me what other people are saying. Talking to me like I'm an idiot, giving me advice and pity and gifts I haven't asked for.
Nicolette interrupts, asking Aaron to take Abigail so she can have a chat outside with Leo alone.
Lassiters Hotel Penthouse
Paul remarks that he hasn't had one single work email today, which Terese claims innocence over. Paul says if he's well enough to hobble from his room to the balcony, he should be well enough to do some work. "Yes, but which one is doctor approved?" Terese replies. They get a visit from Glen, and Terese tries to give them space, but Glen says he's actually there for her. Paul then attempts to leave them be, but Glen asks him to stay as he deserves to hear it too.
GLEN: What I'm about to tell you, please know I couldn't be more ashamed. After you lost your wedding ring on the beach, I found it and I kept it.
TERESE: (positively stunned) What? From the conference?
GLEN: Yeah. The only reason you have it back is that it was accidentally picked up here in my hotel room.
TERESE: But you said it could have been mixed up in my dry cleaning. You had it the whole time?! (Glen sheepishly nods) You watched me struggle and you pretended to comfort me.
GLEN: Trust me, that was real.
TERESE: No, I don't think trust is a word you should be throwing around right now!
GLEN: I know, I'm so sorry. If I could go back and do things differently-
Having remained in stony silence thus far, Paul finally has enough and confronts Glen.
PAUL: (seething) You have been up to your ears in this right from the very start haven't you?
TERESE: Paul.
PAUL: Terese welcomed you into her house and instead you-
TERESE: Paul! Paul, you need to rest. Your recovery is more important than any of this right now.
She leads Paul away while he stares daggers at Glen.
Number 32 Backyard
Leo is mighty angry that Nicolette dragged him away, but Nic tells him he needs to take a second to breathe. She knows the self-preservation routine he's got going on right now. If he keeps moving then the sense of loss won't catch up with him. "We did the memorial, I got through it," Leo replies, but Nicolette comments that the next part is going to be a lot harder.
LEO: What, you want me to mope? Is that it?
NICOLETTE: No I just want you to allow yourself to feel. To stop lashing out at people who are just trying to help you.
She tells him a story about how Britney used to send her a picture of her cup of tea every night. It was an inside joke between them, but it made Nicolette feel like she had a friend she could count on. Nic gets upset and says she misses Britney, and that the night Leo kissed Britney was the happiest Nicolette has ever seen her friend. This sets Leo off crying, but Nicolette encourages him that it's okay to give into the sadness. Nicolette embraces Leo as he sobs into her shoulder.
Lassiters Hotel Penthouse
Terese doesn't expect Glen to still be in the lounge room when she returns from Paul's room. Glen was hoping they could finish their conversation, but Terese isn't sure what else there is to say. He played her from the very beginning presenting himself as the "wronged, morally superior brother", but even Paul is more honest about who he really is.
GLEN: What I did was wrong, but at the time I honestly believed I was acting in your best interest.
TERESE: Oh, so you lied to yourself as much as you lied to me. That's good to know.
GLEN: I thought Paul and that ring would be a risk to your sobriety.
TERESE: No! No, you wanted power over him, and me. And that is what you got.
GLEN: Yeah, you're right. There's plenty of ways I've rationalised my behaviour and none of them are good enough.
TERESE: I can't even look at you anymore.
GLEN: I'll clear out of your house when I find somewhere else. But just please let me explain-
TERESE: I don't want to hear it, Glen, I really don't.
Glen begs for her to hear him out, but Paul emerges from the hallway and cooly states that Terese made herself very clear. He's also about to make himself crystal clear to Glen.
PAUL: I don't want you out of Ramsay Street - I want you out of Erinsborough all together. And this time you do not come back, do you understand?
