Lassiter's Complex
Outside The Waterhole, Pierce is still with Chloe, and reeling from Hendrix's outburst at him. Pierce wants to go after Hendrix, but Chloe encourages him to give him time to cool down.
PIERCE: Maybe there's a middle ground. You know, maybe I'll just get him an apartment so he doesn't have to worry about the rent.
CHLOE: Buying him property is middle ground? You're just saying that because you feel guilty.
PIERCE: Of course I feel guilty.
CHLOE: Well, I'm sorry to sound harsh, but suck it up. If you give in now, he'll never learn. You sound like you're gonna back down again; I feel like we're going round in circles.
PIERCE: You're right. I won't back down.
CHLOE: Good.
PIERCE: I just hate leaving him when he's so upset.
CHLOE: He'll come around.
PIERCE: When? I'm leaving tomorrow.
No 22
Harlow is on the sofa, talking to Hendrix on the phone. She assures him he's not alone; he has her, and Mackenzie, and the Kennedys looking out for him. She suggests Hendrix asks if he can stay with the Kennedys.
Paul and Terese interrupt her conversation, saying they're going to bed. Harlow tells them that Hendrix is really upset as Pierce is moving to Sydney, and is cutting off financial support if Hendrix stays. Terese is sorry to hear this, but Paul doesn't seem hugely bothered, saying that it's probably the best option for Hendrix to go with Pierce.
Terese tells Paul to stay out of it, and they head to bed. Harlow goes back to her phone call, promising Hendrix that they'll work something out.

The next day, Dipi and Jay are discussing his plans to stay in Erinsborough next year. Jay says he likes it here and being around his parents, but Dipi asks what he'd do about school.
JAY: Erinsborough High doesn't seem too bad, from what Mackenzie tells me.
DIPI: Sure. But it's not like Monarch. There's no aquatics centre, and there's definitely no science wing.
JAY: I'll survive. Mackenzie did pretty well.
DIPI: There might be other options. Let me ask around, and see who's offering scholarships.
JAY: Oh, great - more exams (!)
DIPI: Oh, please! Don't pretend like you don't love them.
JAY: ... Alright, you got me!
Meanwhile, Toadie joins Shane in the sun room. Toadie remarks that Dipi seems to be doing okay today, despite the fact that Pierce is leaving town. Shane smiles and agrees, saying that Dipi is spending more time here at the house too, to see Jay.
Back indoors, Dipi tells Jay that Eden Hills Grammar may be their best schooling option for him if he's sticking around - it's 20 minutes away by bus.
JAY: Bus?!
DIPI: Yes, my little prince. Welcome to reality. Not everyone on this street can afford their own personal driver!
Jay makes a comment about Pierce leaving, but Dipi swiftly changes the subject. As Dipi gets up from the table, both look concerned.

Chloe is telling Nicolette, David and Aaron how cool their co-parenting plan is. David asks if Chloe's sure she is okay talking about it, given her recent miscarriage, but she assures him she is fine with baby talk, and looking forward to 'snuggles' with the little one. But David reminds her they don't even know if Nicolette is pregnant yet.
Nonetheless, Chloe is sending them 'positive vibes', but Aaron reminds her to keep some of those vibes for herself, reminding her that Pierce leaving town today is a big deal. His departure is news to Nicolette.
Chloe says she doesn't want to bring everyone down with her 'messy stuff', but Aaron fetches her tissues in case she wants to cry it out, and Nicolette assures her she's stuck with them all. Chloe puts on a brave face.
Lassiter's Complex
Paul and Terese are having a business chat outside the hotel, when Pierce turns up. He asks if Hendrix stayed at No 22 last night, as he's been ignoring Pierce's messages. Terese confirms he did, and apologises for not letting Pierce know. Terese acknowledges Pierce is leaving.
TERESE: It won't be the same without you. Here at Lassiter's, or on the street.
PAUL (smirking): Yeah, yeah. You'll be missed.
PIERCE: Just not by you, right?
TERESE: Oh, come on, you two. Can't you stop locking horns for two seconds?
Terese thanks Pierce for all his work at the hotel, saying he was a 'great business partner'. Pierce says it was a pleasure, and that it kept him on his toes. Terese tells Pierce to visit them next time he's in town; he says he will, and says, 'Take care', before walking off. Paul continues to smirk to himself.
The Waterhole
Karl and Susan are having lunch. Susan tells Karl that their son Billy has confirmed the dates for their visit to see him in Brisbane; their older kids Malcolm and Libby will be there for Christmas, too. But Susan thinks they should do something to celebrate Christmas in Erinsborough before they leave for Brisbane. Karl suggests they throw a party, and she agrees.
Hendrix approaches and engages them in a chat, hoping to scope them out about him staying there by remarking that it must be 'weird' there with Jane moving out. Susan remarks, a little sarcastically, that they miss Jane, and that Bea is hardly ever there.
SUSAN: Actually, it's been really nice having the house to ourselves for once.
KARL: Yeah, we're ready for the quiet life.
Hendrix looks awkward, and decides against asking to move in based on what they've said. Karl asks how things are with him, and he assures them there are 'no major dramas' at home for him. An awkward silence descends, and Hendrix eventually leaves, Susan and Karl remaining oblivious as to what he was getting at.
Harold's Café
Hendrix comes in to meet Harlow. He explains he decided he couldn't ask the Kennedys to move in, as they were celebrating having an empty house.
HARLOW: What's Plan B?
HENDRIX: This might be a long shot, but what if we talk to Paul and Terese about me moving in with you?
HARLOW: There's no way Grandad would agree to that. He doesn't like you staying over when you do.
HENDRIX: We should at least ask, babe. It's worth a shot.
Harlow looks unsure.

David is being slightly precious about the state of the kitchen, telling Aaron and Nicolette how baking and cleaning aren't concepts that are 'mutually exclusive'.
NICOLETTE: Listen to you. We're gonna make such a smart baby.
AARON: Hey, we may already have.
NICOLETTE: She's probably already in there.
AARON: Or he.
NICOLETTE: Or they.
Aaron and Nic are excited at the prospect, but David is still looking hesitant about it all. Chloe, who is sitting at the table nearby, looks privately sad at all the baby talk. As conversation continues, Chloe feigns excitement at being a 'free woman now', with 'all the time in the world'. But then she sees her wedding anniversary in her online calendar.
Chloe becomes tearful. Noticing how upset she is, Aaron, David and Nicolette crowd around her in support.
No 22
Hendrix is with Harlow, trying to sell the idea of him moving in at No 22 to Terese. But Harlow isn't looking convinced it's the best plan, and Terese even less so.
TERESE: Apart from anything else, you moving in with Harlow is a big deal.
HENDRIX: Yeah. But we're ready for it.
Harlow forces a smile.
TERESE: And even if I did think it was a good idea, and that's a very big if, Paul would never go for it.
Hendrix butters Terese up, saying she's the best negotiator he knows - but at this point, Paul comes in and asks what they're discussing. Terese explains that Hendrix wants to live here, and Paul swiftly shuts it down.
PAUL: No. No way. I'm sorry, but you two are too young to live together.
HENDRIX: With respect, Paul, isn't that up to us to decide?
PAUL: No. Not when you want to live under our roof, no. And how are you gonna pay for the rent? Have you thought about that?
HENDRIX: Not yet, but I'd work something out.
PAUL: Oh, I see. So your plan is to stop sponging off your father and start sponging off your girlfriend and [her] family instead. Is that it?
HENDRIX: No, that wasn't the plan.
PAUL: No, that's right. Cos you don't have a plan.
Hendrix looks disappointed as Paul walks off.
Lassiter's Complex
Dipi is cleaning tables outside Harold's when Pierce turns up. They greet one another awkwardly.
DIPI: Didn't think I'd have the chance to see you before you left.
PIERCE: Oh, I'm not gonna leave without saying goodbye. I want to apologise. If I could change what happened between us I would, you know?
DIPI: You don't have to apologise to me. I was there too, remember?
PIERCE: Yeah. I just feel like I should. I want to thank you, too. Just for being a friend. Before this whole mess started, you really helped me through some tough situations.
DIPI (emotional): You did that for me, too. I'm really gonna miss your wise advice.
PIERCE: I hope you find what you're looking for, Dipi. You're such a special woman. You deserve to be happy, you know?
At this point, Shane strolls into the courtyard, unnoticed by them. He watches from a distance, as Dipi hands back the necklace Pierce gave her.
DIPI: I've wanted to give this back to you for a while now.
PIERCE: Keep it.
DIPI: I can't.
PIERCE: I want you to. You can sell it if you want. Whatever helps, or makes you happy.
DIPI (emotional): Thank you. That's... that's really generous.
PIERCE: Take care, Dip.
DIPI: I will.
Pierce begins to walk away, before Dipi shouts after him...
DIPI: I hope you find what you're looking for in Sydney.
They smile at one another fondly, but as soon as Pierce turns the corner, Dipi breaks down, steadying herself on a table and then taking a seat. Still unseen and watching as Dipi sobs, Shane looks upset.

Hendrix is leaning on the kitchen counter, looking despondent, while Harlow lets Jay in at the front door. Jay wants to show Hendrix details of an AI-integrated sound system which he thinks would be perfect to install at No 24, but a glum Hendrix explains that Pierce isn't letting him remain at No 24, and that he hasn't found an alternative plan yet.
JAY: You know what? Stuff your dad. You should get a place of your own. Show him you don't need him.
HARLOW: You know what? It's actually not a bad idea. As long as you can pay the rent.
HENDRIX (to Harlow): We could do it together. If we both got part-time jobs, we would easily be able to afford a place of our own. We could get somewhere cool, babe.
HARLOW: No, no - Hendrix, I can't move in with you.
HENDRIX: What? Why?
HARLOW: Because I'm not ready for that. It's too soon.
Sensing awkwardness, Jay makes his exit.
HARLOW: Look, I'm sorry. It doesn't mean that I don't love you, obviously.
HENDRIX: Just means you don't want to spend any extra time with me.
HARLOW: No, it's just - I dunno, living together? It's a lot.
HENDRIX: Yeah, yeah. Sure. It was probably a stupid idea anyway.
HARLOW: How come you were so happy to beg Grandad for help, and not the Kennedys? Why don't you ask Karl and Susan? I can guarantee they'll be happy to help.
HENDRIX: ... Okay.
No 28
Susan and Karl are at the table when Hendrix turns up at the door, asking to talk. He explains that, with Pierce leaving town today and not trusting him to stay alone at No 24, he's been left with nowhere to live.
HENDRIX: I was wondering if I could stay with you guys for a couple of weeks.
Susan and Karl exchange a meaningful glance.
HENDRIX: Only till I can get a job, and then get a place of my own. And I promise you guys will barely know I'm here. And I am happy to help out with whatever needs doing. Yard work, anything...
SUSAN: ... Of course you can stay.
HENDRIX: Really? Oh, thank you! Yeah, I promise it'll only be a couple of weeks.
KARL: You can stay as long as you need.
HENDRIX: No, no, I can't do that. You guys are enjoying the quiet life.
But Susan says they're maybe not quite ready for it yet!
SUSAN: Our home is your home. No strings.
KARL: Uh, well, a few strings. You'll have to pay rent, and a portion of the bills.
SUSAN: Yeah. And help with housework.
Hendrix is thrilled, and says he will do whatever they need.
HENDRIX: Thank you so much for this.

Chloe is drying her eyes, and apologises to Nicolette for her emotional meltdown.
CHLOE: I was doing okay until I realised our wedding anniversary was in a couple of weeks. We didn't even make it to a year, Nic. I'm so angry, and sad at the same time. I'm glad he's going; it'll be easier not having to see him (...) Even though I'm still so mad at him, I know it's gonna be really hard saying goodbye, and knowing it's forever. That probably sounds crazy.
NICOLETTE: No, I actually think saying goodbye might make it easier (...) You might not be able to see it, but your life is gonna be so much better now that he's out of it, I promise.
CHLOE: Of course you'd say that!
NICOLETTE: This isn't about me. It's about you, and having the freedom to be who you really are. You just can't see that yet. But I can.
Nicolette decides that there should be 'no more mooching' - they're going to the cinema, preceded by a drink at the pub. Chloe agrees.
CHLOE: Nic, thank you. I'm glad I have a friend like you around me right now.
Nic smiles, but looks a little conflicted.
No 28
Pierce is thanking Susan and Karl for agreeing to take in Hendrix. He explains he doesn't want them to be out of pocket, but that he can't go back on his decision that Hendrix must pay his own way; Susan assures Pierce that Hendrix knows it won't be a free ride.
SUSAN: We understand what you're trying to do. We'll make sure that Hendrix takes responsibility for himself.
However, Pierce tells the Kennedys to contact him if things get out of hand. Pierce then heads home to see if he can convince Hendrix to grab a coffee with him before he leaves town. The Kennedys wish Pierce luck, and show him out.
Harold's Café
Dipi is at work, but is still looking upset, and Toadie notices from his vantage point at one of the tables. Shane comes in, and he and Dipi mutually avoid a conversation. Shane sits down with Toadie, who mentions that Dipi seems upset. Shane explains he saw her saying goodbye to Pierce earlier, and how distraught Dipi seemed.
TOADIE: Oh, man. That must've been hard to watch.
SHANE: I still love her. And I hate to see her upset. But the fact that she's this cut up over him, that... that's a bit of a kick in the guts.
Lassiter's Complex
Hendrix and Pierce emerge from the pub; nearby, Nicolette and Chloe are having their drink at an outdoor table.
PIERCE (to Hendrix): I hope you don't think I'm punishing you.
HENDRIX: Feels like it.
PIERCE: Do you know how easy it would be for me to give you everything you want? I'm not gonna do that. I love you too much. Listen... whatever you decide to do, you're gonna be amazing. I know that. You know the change I've seen in you since you came here? I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you, and I can't wait to see what you end up doing next.
HENDRIX (emotional): I'm so angry at you. But I'm gonna miss you.
PIERCE (voice breaking): I'll miss you too, son. More than I can say.
Nearby, Chloe has stood up, clearly wanting to speak to Pierce before he leaves. Hendrix steps aside to let Pierce and Chloe talk, while Nicolette lingers in the background.
CHLOE: This has all happened so fast. I guess it makes sense, given how we started.
PIERCE: We're still playing by our own rules.
CHLOE: I don't regret being part of your life. The ending I could've done without, but, umm... knowing you, being with you... You made me happy.
PIERCE: I'll always love you, Chloe. No matter what. If you need anything, just call me, alright? And look after Hendrix for me.
CHLOE: Of course.
NICOLETTE (from a distance): Chloe, we should probably get going or we're gonna miss the movie.
PIERCE (to Nicolette): Do you mind? (to Chloe) At the risk of sounding crazy, I have to say one last thing about Nicolette.
CHLOE: Please, don't ruin it now.
PIERCE: Aaron and David have to be careful about this whole baby thing.
CHLOE: You two just don't like each other. Can we leave it at that?
PIERCE: It's got nothing to do with me. I'm going; I'll never see her again. But Aaron and David are gonna be tied to her forever. And I reckon the only reason she agreed to have this baby is... to be close to you.
CHLOE: ...
PIERCE: Please think about it. Look after yourself, alright?
Pierce rejoins Hendrix and they walk away together. As Chloe watches Pierce go, Nicolette rejoins her and smiles, but Chloe is looking worried.
