Robinson Heights
Leo is still under the concrete slab, crying out for help. Rafael is nearby, and apparently hesitant about whether to show himself. He dials for the emergency services, but before he can say anything Mark jogs by, and hears Leo's cries - so Rafael exits the scene, leaving Mark to come to Leo's aid.
No 28
Aaron and Elly are discussing the positive pregnancy test she found. It says on the box that it can be used as an early indicator of pregnancy from a week after conception, potentially putting Izzy in the frame. Elly wonders who else might have been trying to get pregnant; but when Aaron suggests asking Karl if he knows who it might be, Elly says they can't tell Karl and Susan.
Susan comes in, and Elly hides the pregnancy test. Susan hasn't been able to concentrate at work after what's happened with Izzy, so has come home. She goes to her room. Aaron says Susan must be going through hell; Elly replies that this is why they can't tell her, until they know who the pregnancy test belongs to.
Fitzgerald Motors
Ben is filling Xanthe in on Izzy's sperm-stealing antics.
XANTHE: Wow! That's just wrong, and... gross!
BEN: Tell me about it.
He laments that Karl is sleeping on the couch again, just after he and Susan appeared to have sorted things out. Xanthe suggests they should do something together this afternoon to take Ben's mind off it. Ben gets a text from Uncle Kirky in Oakey; it's a picture of a '68 Monaro that he's working on, which he hopes will tempt Ben to take the job!
Ben shows Xanthe the picture, but still doesn't tell her about the job offer. Xanthe says it's great Ben has someone to talk about cars to now Tyler's gone, then kisses him, promising to see him later, and leaves. Ben looks thoughtful, then calls his mum Libby.
BEN: I need your advice on something.
Erinsborough Hospital
Paul and David are at the coffee stand, gossiping about the Izzy/Karl debacle, which is apparently the talk of the hospital. David wonders if the hospital will press charges, but Paul thinks Clive will be keen to hush it up so as not to put Izzy's $20 million donation under threat. Turning to Rafael, Paul remarks that he seems lovely. David says they're only dating; Paul says it's good to see him happy.
David heads off for his shift in ER. Paul wishes him a quiet one.
DAVID: Don't say the Q word, or you'll jinx it!
The Waterhole
Mishti asks Shane how his physio is going - he says it's painful, but that when he's struggling he looks to Kirsha for inspiration, who is doing really well at school considering her hearing problems. Mishti gets a call on her radio, informing her of an accident at Robinson Heights. Mishti rushes off, worrying that Amy might be hurt, with no clue that Leo's the one in danger.
Meanwhile, at a table, Rafael is on the phone to Sue Parker.
RAFAEL: This is bad. Really bad... No, Sue. None of this was worth it. No-one was meant to get hurt!
Harold's Café
Karl is talking to Toadie about the possibility of pressing charges against Izzy for stealing and using his sample.
TOADIE: You guys don't have a lot of options (...) Australia hasn't written any laws against reproductive fraud. So Izzy can't be charged for impregnating herself, because technically no law has been written to make it a crime.
KARL: She stole someone else's property!
TOADIE: Right. So, the nurse let her into the facility, so you can't get her for trespass. And yes, although your property was stolen, a good lawyer is just gonna get her off with a slap on the wrist. You could try to sue her for pain and suffering, but that would be a very long and drawn-out process.
KARL: Not good for me, or Holly, or the hospital.
TOADIE: That's about the size of it.
Karl admits he was hoping he could take something more positive back to Susan, so she doesn't accuse him of underestimating the seriousness of what Izzy's done. Toadie apologises that he doesn't have better news.
Robinson Heights
Leo is still under the slab and struggling to breathe, but the paramedics are on site and giving him oxygen, while Mark provides moral support. Mishti arrives, and is devastated to find that it's Leo who's trapped under the slab. She becomes tearful and demands to know why the slab hasn't been moved yet; Mark explains that they're waiting for the 'firies', as it's too risky. She goes to Leo's side.
MISHTI: We're gonna get you out of here, even if I have to lift it myself.
LEO: Bet you could!
MISHTI: I love you.
LEO: I love you too.
Harold's Café
Elly and Aaron are now faced with the task of running around Erinsborough asking anyone who was at the party whether they're pregnant - and naturally, they start with Amy.
ELLY: How are you feeling? Maybe you're a little bit tired, or...?
Amy's surprised and a little offended by their line of questioning, particularly with Wayne Baxter being the hypothetical father. But she confirms that the pregnancy test wasn't hers.
AMY: I am not pregnant with Wayne's baby! Or anyone else's, okay?!
Elly and Aaron scurry off to continue their investigation elsewhere, while Amy answers her phone, and appears to receive some surprising news...
Lassiter's Complex
Xanthe runs into Ben, and announces that she's booked them a hotel room for the night, so they can spend some quality time together. He says it's perfect, as he really needs some time alone with her. They head into Lassiter's to check in.
Meanwhile, Elly is leaving a message on Mishti's voicemail, to 'ask her something personal' - presumably, whether she's the owner of the pregnancy test. She and Aaron are joined by Karl, who's about to get chatting, when the three of them see Susan storming towards the police station!
Panicking, Karl rushes towards her. Susan says that Izzy needs to be reported for what she's done, but Karl explains what Toadie told him about Izzy not having broken any significant laws. Susan thinks they should get a second opinion, but Elly comes over to interrupt, explaining about the mystery pregnancy test and that she's worried it might be Izzy's.
ELLY: Given you're about to speak to the police, I thought you should know there might be a baby involved.
KARL: We have to talk to Izzy.
Lassiter's
Ben and Xanthe settle into their hotel room - but Ben has a bombshell for Xanthe, as he tells her about Kirky's job offer.
XANTHE: Oh.
BEN: I turned it down at first, but lately I - I can't get the thought of it out of my head.
XANTHE: ... Right. So, what are you gonna do?
BEN: That's what I wanted to talk to you about.
But before they can say any more, a drunken Holly flies through the door!
HOLLY: Hello, my favourite humans!
Apparently the receptionist told her they were here, and now...
HOLLY: It's party time!
Ben and Xanthe look annoyed/concerned, as Holly sets down a stash of minibar bottles!
Erinsborough Hospital
Amy and David are talking about the accident at the building site; the police won't release any details about who was hurt. Amy can't understand why anyone was on the site, since it was the weekend. She heads off to check on how Paul's doing with the 'crisis management'.
Rafael is hanging around, looking worried; David assumes he's come to visit him at work, and Raf goes along with this, not telling him that he was at the building site. David then gets a call from Mishti, explaining that Leo was the injured party. We hear the ambulance pulling up, as Rafael looks guilty, and David promises Mishti that he'll take care of Leo...
Lassiter's
Susan and Karl arrive to see Izzy.
IZZY: To what do I owe this pleasure?
KARL: Izzy, have you taken a pregnancy test?
IZZY: You're eager. I knew that you would be.
Susan explains about the positive test that Elly found, but Izzy denies that it's hers. She hasn't taken a test yet, but says she will do soon.
IZZY: So there's still a chance of welcoming a little one into this world. I know that that does not please you, but I'm hoping that you'll come around, and that we can work this out.
Susan gives Izzy the most evil glare, and Karl says they'll have to wait and see.
Erinsborough Hospital
Rafael is talking to a worried Paul about Leo's accident; he reports that the paramedics said they were lucky to free him before the concrete crushed him. Paul tells Raf not to feel obliged to stay.
RAFAEL: I don't feel obliged.
PAUL: Alright. I can see why David's taken a shine to you. Well, sticking around in a time of crisis, even though you've just started seeing each other - that speaks volumes about your character.
Visibly uncomfortable, Rafael goes to get them some coffees. Mishti, who has been lingering nearby throughout this exchange, asks Paul why Leo was even at the site. Paul explains he was picking up some papers they'd left there. Mishti says Amy's outside on the phone to the safety inspector. Mishti becomes tearful again, admitting she wasn't prepared for any of this.
PAUL: Yeah, I know. Must be bringing up some very painful memories for you. But don't worry - this isn't going to go the same way as it did with Xander.
Rafael returns, and overhears this conversation. David then emerges, and tells them that Leo has been thoroughly checked over. He'll be staying overnight for observation, but aside from a few bruised ribs, he's not seriously hurt, and should make a full recovery. Rafael sighs with relief, along with everybody else.
Lassiter's
Holly continues to get in the way of Ben and Xanthe's time together, and their conversation about Ben's job offer. Ben makes it clear that he and Xanthe were in the middle of something.
HOLLY: Don't you want to hang out with your auntie Holly? Please - Mum's driving me mental at the moment.
Holly's feeling bad about the impact that Izzy's behaviour is having on the family, but Xanthe and Ben assure Holly it's not her fault. Holly isn't so sure.
HOLLY: I'm the one who told Mum that Dad had the sample at the hospital.
XANTHE: Eww.
HOLLY: In fact, my whole existence has brought nothing but trouble.
BEN: Oh, don't say that. We love you!
HOLLY: Really?
Ben tells Holly to go back to her room and drink lots of water, but Xanthe isn't keen to leave her alone when she's so inebriated. Holly is thrilled that she can stay, but Ben looks annoyed.
Erinsborough Hospital
Aaron and Elly arrive, having heard the news about Leo. Mishti updates them, explaining that he's doing well. Aaron is concerned about how David is coping; Mishti says the whole family's okay now that Leo is safe.
Mishti asks Elly why she was trying to get hold of her before; Elly explains about the pregnancy test she found, but says it doesn't matter now as Izzy has confirmed it wasn't hers. The look on Mishti's face says it all - but she attempts to remain casual.
MISHTI: Could've been anyone at the bar's, so just throw it in the bin.
ELLY: Yeah, I guess. Whoever the test belonged to would probably just assume that it was lost.
MISHTI: Yeah. I reckon.
No 28
Karl and Susan are in the garden. Susan is still seething about Izzy, and wants to press ahead with theft charges, even if there's not much chance of success.
SUSAN: We need to send a strong message.
KARL: Darling, I'm on your side here. I don't want to see Izzy get away with this. But I also don't want open warfare for Holly's sake. She's already rebelling; it's a cry for help. She needs stability, not conflict. And if there's to be a second child -
SUSAN: I keep saying this, and you don't listen! Isabelle needs to face consequences, for the first time in her life!
KARL: I am listening; I agree! But it's not that simple - Holly has to come first! Oh, Susan -
SUSAN: No, Karl, don't! This is not okay!
Erinsborough Hospital
Paul is on the phone to Amy, who explains that the safety officer has shut the construction site down pending an investigation, following Leo's accident.
PAUL: This could end up delaying the project indefinitely.
AMY: It's crazy! I'm sure I checked that truck.
Paul tells her it's okay - they'll get through this, and he'll arrange a meeting with lawyers tomorrow. Rafael is lurking nearby, and David thanks him for hanging around, saying it's 'above and beyond'. David asks if Raf can stay a little longer while he speaks to Paul. Raf says that's fine.
DAVID: You might actually be amazing.
Rafael looks conflicted as David walks away.
Lassiter's
Holly is throwing up in the bathroom in Ben and Xanthe's room.
XANTHE: That girl is a hot mess.
BEN: We should take her to her mum right now.
XANTHE: No, not when she's like this!
BEN: You booked this room so we could spend time together. And we kind of have something to talk about.
XANTHE: (...) I'm sorry, but I'm not ready to talk about how you want to leave me. Seriously, Ben - you are the biggest thing in my life right now. And I would never, ever, ever consider leaving you. But you want to leave me for a job you already have here? I just don't even know where to start with that!
BEN: It's not like that at all! I turned down the job in the first place because of you!
XANTHE: Right. So you'll stay here and you'll be miserable because of me.
BEN: No!
XANTHE: Look, I'm sorry - I'm not ready to talk about this.
Xanthe returns to the bathroom to look after Holly, leaving Ben looking worried.
The Waterhole
Karl receives word from the hospital on Leo's condition, and reports to Shane and Dipi that he is okay. Izzy comes in, wanting to talk to Dipi.
IZZY: Yashvi has been telling Holly all about your theatre group.
DIPI: Right... Did you want to join?
Izzy laughs incredulously.
IZZY: No! No, I'm just all about community theatre. Well, the creativity part, anyway. Karl and I once did a fundraising song, didn't we, Karl? Do you remember that?
KARL: Vaguely.
IZZY: You wrote it, and I performed it, for charity! So supporting the arts is my newfound passion. So if you'd like any help with the group, I'd be thrilled.
DIPI: Really? Well, thank you!
KARL: You know, Izzy - you can't make up for what you've done by smooth-talking people and splashing your cash around.
IZZY: Well, that's very cynical of you, Karl.
KARL: Can you blame me, Izzy?
IZZY: Well, I'm just trying to do the right thing. But if Dipi doesn't want my donation...
DIPI: I do. I do.
IZZY: Then that's all I need to hear!
KARL: Oh, Isabelle!
IZZY: If you're gonna attack me, Karl, save it. You should know that it's important that I avoid stress.
She rubs her belly provocatively, before leaving.
Erinsborough Hospital
Mishti is with Leo, who's lying in a hospital bed. His ribs are still very painful, but Mishti says it's a miracle that his injuries weren't more serious.
LEO: Hey, babe - I didn't mean to give you a fright.
MISHTI: I was so scared you weren't gonna make it. I didn't know what I'd do, or how I'd cope that you'd never know that I...
LEO: Never know what?
MISHTI: ...
LEO: Mish? What's wrong?
MISHTI: I'm pregnant.
