No 28
Elly is saying goodnight to Finn at the front door, thanking him for the drink.
ELLY: I'd invite you in, but...
FINN: It's a school night.
ELLY: Exactly.
They agree to see one another tomorrow, and Elly looks a little lovestruck as she closes the door behind him. Xanthe and Ben, who are on the sofa, go all gooey at the prospect of Elly/Finn love and smile at Elly. She tells them to have fun, and goes to bed.

Aaron is reporting back to (topless) Mark and Tyler about David making a move on him.
TYLER: So he's finally come out?
AARON: Well, not that I know of.
MARK: But you are into the guy, right?
AARON: Yeah, totally. Look, he's great - he's smart, and he's kind and decent.
MARK: So what, you just don't want a relationship with David?
AARON: No, I do. I just - look, my first instinct when he ran away was to run straight after him. But I had to stop myself, cos I know that's not what he needs right now.
TYLER: Since when has that ever stopped you?
AARON: I just don't think he's ready for anything right now. He's got a lot to figure out - it's just, the timing's all off.
Mark encourages Aaron to call David, but he's already tried; David's not picking up. Aaron reckons David has never kissed a guy before. Mark tells him to go and find David and sort it out. But Aaron doesn't want to make things harder by pressuring him.
AARON: When he's ready to talk, he'll find me.
The Waterhole
A glum-looking David runs into Paul. David's been trying to get hold of Leo, but he's not answering his texts. Paul convinces a reluctant David to stay and have a drink with him.
Terese power-marches in, and tells Sheila she's got a big problem with Tim Collins.
TERESE: I've just found out he's booked in for a massage tomorrow.
SHEILA: The masseuse has my sympathy!

But Terese explains that she hasn't been able to find a backup masseuse since Alexis quit, and is worried that Tim Collins will publish a poor review of the Day Spa if she doesn't sort out a decent alternative. Terese says that cancelling the appointment could be the safest option. Sheila has a lightbulb moment, and offers to call Tim Collins on Terese's behalf and do just that...

Xanthe is listening as Susan and Elly openly discuss hapless schoolteacher Wayne Baxter, who has apparently been lavishing his romantic attentions on another fellow staff member. Susan admits she's having doubts about having appointed Wayne as assistant principal.
ELLY: It's a shame it doesn't occur to him to look for a date outside of school.
SUSAN: Yes, I know he has boundary issues. I'm gonna talk to him again tomorrow. We need to resolve this one way or another.
Karl, who has been setting the table for dinner, informs everyone that Toadie is Not In This Episodetm. Meanwhile, Ben is absorbed reading some kind of motorbike manual. Karl looks put out at Ben's ongoing interest in being a mechanic.
BEN: I know you think this is the wrong thing.
Susan claims that she and Karl support Ben's apprenticeship 100%, and Karl reluctantly nods - but continues to find reasons why a mechanic career will be an uphill struggle for Ben.
SUSAN: Karl - could you help me dish up over here, please?
KARL: Really?!

Susan gives Karl the death stare, so he complies. In a hushed voice, Susan tells Karl she also wishes Ben was still at school, but says that if he falls, they need to be there to catch him. Karl still seems unenthusiastic...
The Waterhole
David is talking to Paul about the kiss with Aaron.
DAVID: Today's the first time I've acted on my feelings for another guy. I've spent half my life thinking about this. The fear's always stopped me.
PAUL: So don't let it this time. Call Aaron - tell him how you feel. Even if you did get the signals wrong, I'm sure he'll understand.
DAVID: I can't take another rejection.
Leo comes in, looking for David to find out what the problem was. David says he'll tell him later and that talking to Paul has helped. Paul invites Leo to join them.
LEO: I can fix my own problems, thanks.
DAVID: And I'm the loser who can't.
David heads home, and Paul tells Leo that regardless of their complicated family situation, David could do with his support.
PAUL: He's just come out, and he needs you. It's not all about you. Maybe it's time to remember that, hey?
Meanwhile, Sheila is putting a plan into action; she's summoned Brooke to give her the chance to step in at the Day Spa and give Tim Collins his massage, but hasn't told Terese!
BROOKE: Terese isn't gonna want me to do that. She doesn't rate me as a human being, let alone a masseuse! She's made that very clear.
SHEILA: Yes, but you have owned your mistakes. You need the work. What have you got to lose?

Aaron is still moping around hoping that David will call him back. Paul wanders in, and says Aaron owes David an apology.
MARK: Yeah, sure, Paul - come on in (!)

Mark and Tyler leave Aaron to talk to Paul.
PAUL: Look, you like him. We both know that. So why are you pushing him away? And by the way, David doesn't know I'm here - so I don't want to interfere.
AARON: Yeah, this is you not interfering is it? (!)

Paul says that David's pretty vulnerable at the moment, what with the Amy/Leo situation and having just come out to his family. Aaron hadn't realised that David had come out, and feels even guiltier...

Karl continues to give Ben a hard time about his apprenticeship, but Susan and Elly defend Ben, saying he was up at 6am reading his motorcycle manual and even packed his own lunch.
BEN: Won't be free after work. Gonna catch a movie with Xanteh.
KARL: After eight hours of tough physical labour, I doubt you'll feel much like socialising.
BEN: You do know I'm much younger than you?
SUSAN: Haha, I think you had that one coming!
KARL: Okay, I'm not saying a word.
Tyler turns up, having just dropped Piper off at Terese's - and suggests he and Ben walk to work. Karl tries to have a quiet word with Tyler about the possibility of Ben changing his mind and going back to school, but Tyler says he won't be pressuring Ben either way.
BEN: I'm not gonna change my mind. Doesn't matter how hard this gets; I'm gonna stick with it.
Karl says he's sure Ben will succeed, and Ben and Tyler leave for work. Susan consoles Karl.
Erinsborough High School
Xanthe is interrogating Finn about his dinner with Elly, and asks if he has plans to do it again soon. Finn says that's up to Elly, and asks Xanthe how Ben's going on his first day at work. Xanthe says he's loving it, and thanks Finn for sticking up for Ben.
FINN: It's all part of the job.
XANTHE: Except it's not. You actually care about us.
FINN: I wish Mrs Kennedy would see that.
XANTHE: Really, why?
FINN: Oh, it's frustrating, you know. When you've got ideas, changes that you know would make a real difference in the school community.
Finn is moving tables around, and Xanthe is concerned that he should be taking it easy given his aneurysm. He tells her he's fine, and that she should be concentrating on worrying about getting the marks to do her nursing studies. Xanthe asks Finn whether he'd ever consider going for an assistant principal job at Erinsborough High, repeating what she heard about Mr Baxter's 'boundary issues'.
FINN: Meaning?
XANTHE: Well I probably shouldn't say anything...
FINN: The conversation stays in this room.
Lassiter's Day Spa
Brooke is all uniformed up, just as Sheila hears Tim Collins approaching. However, when Tim Collins sees that Alexis isn't on duty, he immediately tells them to cancel his appointment.
SHEILA: Give her a chance, Tim!
TIM COLLINS: And you can tell Terese I'm not impressed.
A desperate Brooke goes into authoritarian mode.
BROOKE: Stop right there! Get into that room, get on the table, and prepare for the massage of your life!
TIM COLLINS: ...
BROOKE: Are you gonna keep me waiting?
TIM COLLINS: It had better be worth it.
He walks into the massage parlour, as Sheila and Brooke exchange thrilled glances.
The Waterhole
Leo is encouraging David not to give up on Aaron. David remarks that Paul said the same thing.
DAVID: Paul might have his faults, but he does care. Can't you give him props for that?
Aaron comes in, wanting to speak to David - who suggests he walk him to work so they can talk. While David's paying the bill...
LEO: Go easy on him, alright?
AARON: Yeah, I know. Paul just gave me the same talk. He just wants to protect your brother, same as you.
As Aaron leaves with David, Terese comes in to talk to Sheila.
TERESE: I was just walking past the Day Spa. Was that Tim Collins I happened to hear groaning with pleasure?
Sheila says she was going to cancel the appointment as planned, but 'all of a sudden' found a replacement masseuse. Terese thanks Sheila, and leaves.
Erinsborough High School
Susan shows Wayne Baxter out of her office. He moans at how unfairly she's treating him, saying he doesn't think his personal life should have ramifications for his job.
SUSAN: Wayne, this is the second time I've had to speak to you about this kind of behaviour. You're lucky it's only a week of unpaid leave. Now let's just focus on putting this behind us.
Wayne storms off and Finn, who has been watching from the corridor, pops in and asks Susan if everything is okay - before quizzing her over whether the assistant principal position is available. Susan is surprised and asks if Elly has said something. Finn says he just concluded Wayne might be leaving from the look on his face. But Susan says Wayne's just taking leave for personal reasons.
Finn offers to cover for Wayne, but she's already lined up Jo Salter for the gig. Finn asks if Susan could keep him in mind in case Jo falls through, trying to flatter her by saying he'd love to work with her. Susan doesn't respond to this directly, but says they should make time to talk about all Finn's bright ideas for the school. Disappointed, Finn's about to leave, then turns back.
FINN: How was it for you this morning? Ben going off to work?
SUSAN: Oh, well - difficult. But he seems so keen.
FINN: Fantastic. I hope it doesn't cause you any problems? I know your VCE dropout rate is quite high.
SUSAN: ... No, not really! I thought you supported Ben's decision?
FINN: I think all students should make the choice that suits them best. I just worry how The Departmenttm and the school community might read his decision.
SUSAN: ...
FINN: Please know, if there are any issues, I'm here to help you in any way I can.
SUSAN: I'll keep that in mind...
Finn leaves, and Susan looks suspicious of him.
Erinsborough Hospital
Aaron is walking David to work.
AARON: I had no idea you felt that way about me.
DAVID: Dealing with everything to do with my family lately - it's made me realise that I don't want secrets in my life. So I finally did it. I came out to them.
AARON: I'm happy for you.
DAVID: Everyone's been great. Though Mum's struggling a little. I think she knew deep down.
AARON: Well, maybe she did. But now that you're actually out, that's a whole new experience for her. And for you. I just don't know why you didn't tell me.
DAVID: You're so comfortable with yourself. I felt self-conscious. Like I was making it a bigger deal than it is.
AARON: What - are you kidding me? I know how huge it is! I was terrified that my family were gonna reject me. And it wasn't easy with my dad. But in the end I had no choice. I just had to do it.
DAVID: Same. I just wish I'd done it sooner.
AARON: David, you did it when you were ready.
DAVID: So, you and me?
AARON: David, I'm after a relationship.
DAVID: So am I.
AARON: Yeah, but you've just come out. I think you need a bit of time to figure out where you're at. Come on, there's a whole world out there to explore, right? You've got all these guys to meet...
DAVID: So you think I should date other people?
AARON: Yeah. If you're curious.
DAVID: And we're good?
AARON: Yeah, of course we're good!
David smiles awkwardly. Aaron hugs him, and says he's proud of him, before heading off to work. As he leaves, David looks confused.
Lassiter's Day Spa
Tim Collins comes out of his massage to find Terese waiting outside.
TIM COLLINS: That woman has magic hands.
He's keen to book in a second appointment for tomorrow - and Brooke emerges to take care of it. Terese is shocked at the identity of the new masseuse, and even more so when Tim Collins hands Brooke a hefty tip for good service before he leaves.
Realising what Sheila was up to, Terese nonetheless says Brooke must be very talented, and offers her a three-month trial as a beauty therapist. But Brooke is in bargaining mode, and asks for a trial as spa manager instead.
BROOKE: Oh, come on - give me a chance! You won't regret it!

Erinsborough High School
Finn is probing Elly to see if she knows any more about the assistant principal cover, and asks whether she'd be interested in it herself. She confirms not.
FINN: Good. Cos I don't want to step on your toes.
Elly says Finn is talented and passionate, and he recalls a time that they went late-night skinny-dipping in Bondi after an eventful party. They laugh as they reminisce about Elly having had too many mojitos.
FINN: By the time we got to the beach, you went on this massive rave about the sky, and the ocean, and how free it made you feel.
ELLY: I can't believe you remember that.
FINN: How could I forget? That was the moment I realised I was in love with you.
It suddenly turns awkward, and Elly says she has to go back to class. But Finn persists, suggesting a drink tonight at The Waterhole. Elly agrees, and Finn looks hugely pleased with himself as she leaves.
The Waterhole
Paul and Leo cross paths.
LEO: David won't be happy if he finds out you spoke to Aaron.
PAUL: Look, I was just trying to help.
LEO: I know. And since David can't thank you, I will.
PAUL: ...
LEO: Look, you're good for my brother. I'm not gonna mess with that, OK? But just to be clear, I don't want or need anything from you.
Paul smiles as he walks away, feeling he's finally making progress with Leo.

Brooke is telling Xanthe about her Day Spa antics - we learn that Terese hasn't made a decision yet over whether to give her the job, but Xanthe says she's proud of Brooke regardless. Brooke admits it might not be that easy working for Gary's girlfriend in any case.
XANTHE: You don't want to get back with Dad, do you?
BROOKE: Part of me would've liked to put our family back together. But obviously he's moved on.
Sheila comes in, with Terese - who has come to offer Brooke a trial as spa manager! Sheila suggests they all go into the garden and celebrate with afternoon tea. Sheila and Xanthe go out to set up.
TERESE: So, tell me - what technique do you use? Tim Collins seemed like he was putty in your hands!
BROOKE: Well, you know a masseuse never gives away her secrets, but I have been told I've got the gift of touch! You should ask Gary about the Limber Ladybird! I mean, I didn't try that on Tim Collins, though.
TERESE: The, erm... the Limber Ladybird? Gary's never mentioned it.
BROOKE: Oh! Interesting!
But Terese is secretly fuming that the Limber Ladybird is not exclusive to Gary and her!

Finn and Elly have come back from their drink. Finn, who seems to have his eye on Elly's laptop, has been on the soft drinks, and has apparently told Elly it's a charity thing, being off the booze for a month. But now he admits that's not the case.
FINN: Truth is, I had a bit of a health scare. That's why I'm not drinking.
ELLY: I'm sorry.
FINN: It's nothing to worry about. It was a good wake-up call, though. It's made me think about what I really want. Elly, you know how I feel about you.
They fall into a pash, before disappearing into Elly's bedroom...
Later, in the bedroom, Elly is asleep. Finn slips out of bed and creeps into the living area, darting out of view as he sees Ben heading for bed. Once the coast is clear, Finn opens Elly's laptop and starts reading intently, apparently intrigued by what he's looking at...
