Beach House
We pick up where we left off with Paul, Kim, Amy, Leo, David and Aaron. Amy can barely process what Paul has told her.
AMY: I'm dreaming, aren't I? Cos there is no other explanation.
LEO: Unless this is a joke. A really unfunny, cruel joke.
DAVID: I thought you were gonna say Scott Robinson's our father?
PAUL: Scott?
DAVID: Aaron and I figured it out. Amy's our cousin.
PAUL: No, you're her brothers. My sons.
DAVID: Mum?
AMY: How could you keep something like this a secret?
PAUL: Oh, Amy, I just found out myself.
DAVID: Mum?!
KIM: I am so sorry.
AMY: It can't be real. No, it can't. Dad - come on, tell me it's not.
PAUL: Please reassure us that nothing happened between you?
LEO: ... It didn't.
PAUL: Okay, well - we'd better explain everything then.
No 30
Sonya is lying in bed, wide awake. Audio flashbacks show us that she's ruminating on recent events - the miscarriage, seeing Toadie cheat on her with Andrea, and Sonya ending her marriage. She gets a text message from Mark, checking up on her. She replies that she can't sleep. Shortly afterwards, she gets a reply, saying 'come over if you want'.
Beach House
Paul and Kim are in exposition mode. Flashbacks to 1980s episodes are used throughout their explanation, beginning with two separate scenes from Episode 6, stitched together here to imply a bedroom rendezvous between Paul and Kim (Kim coming in through a door, juxtaposed with someone seen from behind - in fact Paul's dad, Jim Robinson - speaking to a shirtless Paul in bed).
PAUL: I met Kim in early 1985. She was Kim Taylor then. I was a uni student, studying engineering, and we had a function at the Erins Burrow. I was single at the time, and your mum was on a break from her boyfriend.
KIM: Bradley Satchwell.
PAUL: I believed that your mum was a uni student as well. Anyway, we spent a night in one of the rooms there, and - I had no idea that your mum was in Scott's year at school as well. Only just made the connection when they began dating.
DAVID: Did Scott know you two had been together?
PAUL: No. Nobody knew. Not Scott, nor Bradley, or her mum or stepfather Neil.
Half of the screen features some footage of Paul and Kim in a heated discussion from Episode 60.
PAUL: Look, we realised that we'd made a mistake, and so we just pretended the whole night didn't happen.
KIM: Which Paul found quite easy. After that I ran away from home.
We see another flashback, this time to Episode 7, of Paul and Jim watching a TV news report about Kim's disappearance.
REPORTER: This pretty young girl is Kim Taylor.
Back in the present...
PAUL: Look, I had no idea that she was pregnant at the time.
We flash back to another heated conversation between Kim and Paul, this time taken from Episode 9, when he tracked her down to a local squat.
KIM: I realised when I was on the streets, but I didn't know it was twins.
AARON: You must have thought there was some chance you were the dad, though?
PAUL: Yeah, of course the idea crossed my mind. But Kim told me that Bradley was the father.
DAVID: Why?
KIM: I thought it was true. I got the dates wrong.
DAVID: How does Mr Udagawa fit into all of this?
KIM: I contacted him looking for work. I told him my story, and how it happened at the Erins Burrow, his motel. He felt sorry for me - gave me money.
AARON: Yeah, okay. But when did you realise Paul was the dad?
KIM: When my boys were born.
DAVID: Because of the dates. Why didn't you tell Paul then?
KIM: Paul had made his feelings quite clear.
DAVID: Well, what does that mean?
We get another flashback, from Episode 62. The voice of Paul's gran, Helen Daniels, is heard, before video of Paul kicks in.
HELEN: Are you suggesting she should get rid of the baby?
PAUL: Why should she have the baby if she doesn't want it?
In the present...
PAUL: Look, when I suggested it, I had no idea that I was the father. If I'd known that, I -
KIM: I should've told you sooner. But you are Paul's sons.
Amy can't take any more, and walks out of the house. Leo wants to go after her, but Paul says it's a bad idea, and goes himself. Aaron goes to help Paul find Amy, leaving the twins to talk things through with Kim.
No 24
Mark is lying in bed. Sonya comes in - she's let herself in with Mark's spare key. Mark gestures for her to sit on the bed, which she does.
MARK: Are you okay?
SONYA: I just needed to talk about Caitlin (...) I didn't realise how much I spoke to her till she... The other night, I was looking out the window at the stars, and I almost went, 'look how beautiful the stars are, Caitlin', and... I just remembered that she wasn't there.
Sonya cries, and Mark comforts her. She lies on the bed with him.
SONYA: You know, I can remember the last time I felt her move. She kicked me, and it just wasn't as strong as it had been. I've just been trying to work out what she was trying to say. Was she asking me for help, or was she just trying to say goodbye to me? I miss her. I miss our little girl.
MARK: Me too.
The Beach House
While Leo stands in silent shock, David continues to probe Kim for answers.
DAVID: Growing up, you always told us that our father was a doctor. Why?
KIM: So you'd think he was a good man. A role model.
DAVID: I didn't want a role model that you'd made up! I wanted a dad.
KIM: I tried to find you one! I married your stepfather; I dated Hiro Udagawa.
DAVID: None of them ever cared about us. Not really. How's this for an idea - you could have contacted our actual father!
KIM: I tried once! But by then, he'd been divorced three times and was in prison.
DAVID: So you decided we were better off without him? That still wasn't your call to make! You had years of chances to speak up, but you didn't! Even when we moved to Erinsborough. Even when I tracked down Bradley. If you hadn't realised that Leo and Amy were getting close, would you have stayed silent forever?
KIM: For your own good!
DAVID: How dare you decide that for us? Thirty years! Thirty Father's Days, thirty birthdays, thirty Christmases, of not knowing where I came from! You stole thirty years from me! And from Leo!
LEO: It doesn't matter. All that matters is Amy.
Leo rushes out to look for her.
A road somewhere
Paul and Aaron are driving around in the dark looking for Amy. Paul thanks Aaron for his help.
PAUL: You know the boys better than I do. How do you think they're gonna handle it? Being the spawn of Satan?
AARON: David's been trying to find his dad his whole life.
PAUL: And Leo?
AARON: Yeah, he's wanted to know deep down too.
PAUL: I guess they just didn't imagine someone like me, though. Unfortunately there's a lot of bad blood. Especially between me and Leo. And then of course, there's Amy. How much does she like him?
AARON: Look, it doesn't matter now.
PAUL: Yeah, it does!
AARON: They're gonna adjust, alright? You all will. Eventually.
Paul spots a path to the beach, and decides to get out of the car and go and look for Amy there.
Beach House
A musical montage kicks off. Kim tries to take David's hand, but he pulls away. Presently Leo comes in, his search for Amy having proven fruitless. Leo sits forlornly at the table where he'd been wining and dining Amy just hours earlier.
The Beach
Dawn has broken, and Paul is still searching for Amy. Finally, he finds her sitting on the sand.
PAUL: Hey, darling. I've been looking for you all night.
AMY: Yeah, I heard you calling out. And Aaron.
Paul gives her his suit jacket for warmth.
AMY: I didn't mean for you to worry. I couldn't face anyone.
PAUL: I know. Can I sit with you now?

Amy nods. Paul sits next to her, puts his arms around her and kisses her.
Ramsay Street
Toadie has come out of No 28 to pick up the newspaper, and sees Sonya wandering home from No 24 in her dressing gown.
TOADIE: What you doing?
SONYA: I'm just going home.
TOADIE: From Mark's.
SONYA: Yeah.
TOADIE: Right. Right.
SONYA: See you later.
Toadie stops her, asking if he can come around later to show Nell the bonnet he's made for her Easter Day parade at daycare. Sonya tells him to come over whenever he likes. He tries to get a smile out of her, by recalling the one they made for Nell together last year, but Sonya is clearly uncomfortable with the happy memories, and walks inside, saying she'll see him later. Toadie is sad.
The Beach
Amy asks how Paul is coping with Kim's revelation.
PAUL: I'm a bit all over the shop, to be honest. I'm upset, I'm angry, I'm worried. I'm certainly in shock. And I'm scared.
AMY: Why are you scared?
PAUL: Just what the boys will think. And my other kids, for that matter. Especially you.
AMY: You don't have to worry about me.
PAUL: Look, Amy, I know that you and Leo have got close -
AMY: Yeah, but it doesn't matter anymore.
PAUL: Yeah, it does actually.
AMY: It could've been worse.
PAUL: How do you mean?
AMY: You could have walked in ten minutes later.
Paul hugs her again.
PAUL: No matter what happens, you are my daughter, and I love you very much. We'll get through this, alright?
AMY: ... I love you too.
Both are very emotional.
No 30
Sonya is helping Nell pick out some socks.
NELL: These!
SONYA: Really? You don't want to wear a matching pair for daddy?
NELL: No!
When Toadie comes in, Nell is thrilled to see him and gives him a hug. Sonya can't help but smile at the Easter bonnet with bunny ears and flashing lights that Toadie has constructed for Nell. However, Nell's first comment on wearing the bonnet is...
NELL: Let's show Mark!
Toadie is visibly disappointed, but Sonya goes to get her phone so she can take a picture to send to Mark.
No 24
Mark is looking sadly at a framed memorial to Caitlin. He gets Sonya's picture message of Nell grinning with her Easter bonnet on, and smiles.
There's a knock at the door - it's Steph. She offers to shout Mark lunch to say thanks for dinner last night. But Mark has something more important to do - cleaning! Steph offers to give him a hand.
STEPH: Be good to hang out like we used to!
MARK: ...
STEPH: I mean, well, not like we used to. Like we used to before we got together - you know what I mean.
MARK: Yeah. Yeah, it'd be really nice. Thanks.
But it's a bit awkward.
Beach House
Kim, Leo, David and Aaron are hanging around, when Paul returns. He says Amy's outside, and doesn't want to see anyone - she just wants to be taken home. Leo volunteers, but Paul says it's best if Aaron takes Amy home. Aaron agrees and leaves, David thanking him for all he's done.
DAVID: Why didn't you take Amy yourself?
PAUL: I thought that we might have some things to discuss.
LEO: I think I'll go home. Wait till Amy's ready to talk.
DAVID: I'd better go with him.
The boys go to leave.
PAUL (to Kim): Well, that went well, didn't it?
No 24
Much cleaning later, Mark seems to be feeling a little better.
STEPH: He's gone, finally.
MARK: What, who?
STEPH: That grumpy little troll that lives on your forehead when you get stressed. When I got here, he was here - but he's gone now.
Mark laughs. Steph takes the bin out. There's a knock at the door - it's Toadie. Mark isn't thrilled to see him, but lets him in anyway.
TOADIE: I saw Sonya coming home from your place this morning. In her dressing gown.
MARK: Right?
TOADIE: Did she spend the night?
MARK: She couldn't sleep. She needed someone to speak to.
TOADIE: And she couldn't do that with Steph?
MARK: She wanted to speak to someone who understands what she's going through.
TOADIE: So she spent the night here? Just talking?
MARK: She fell asleep. Nothing else happened. Don't go judging everyone by your standards.
TOADIE: It's still pretty big though, isn't it? I mean, she spends the night here - she's got a kid at home.
MARK: It was one night! What do you want from me?
TOADIE: I want my family back!
MARK: Well you need to speak to Sonya about that. Not me!
TOADIE: And that'd be easier if you didn't let her sleep over. And spend so much time with my daughter. She has a dad.
MARK: I would never, ever stand in the way of you and Nell! Hey, you know what? Sonya is a friend of mine - and if she needs to speak to me about the loss of the child that we shared, I'm not gonna let her down! You can let yourself out.
Beach House
Paul and Kim are preparing to leave. Kim says there's no hurry; the boys need time.
PAUL: I can't really blame them for being shaken. Or angry, for that matter.
KIM: They'll probably never speak to me ever again.
PAUL: Oh, no, Kim, it's not your fault. I was the one who said I was glad the baby wasn't mine. I mean, I should never have said that to you. Yeah, I was a lot younger then. No more than a stupid kid. But hey, that's no excuse. No, no - I'm not letting myself off the hook this time. God, the things that I've done over the years, the pain that I've caused. You were right to shut me out. I've just got a history of ruining things for my kids.
KIM: Then do better this time. Be the father my boys deserve.
No 26
Leo turns up at the door. Amy opens it, but the screen remains closed throughout their conversation.
AMY: What are you doing here?
LEO: What do you think?
AMY: You should be with your brother. Or Paul.
LEO: This is more important.
AMY: Just go!
LEO: I can't!
AMY: It hurts too much to be around you.
LEO: Amy -
AMY: Twenty-four hours ago, I was imagining a future between us. You know, I really allowed myself to think you were it. We were seconds away from - I just, I need to reset.
LEO: What am I supposed to do?
AMY: The same thing!
LEO: I don't want to!
AMY: Stop saying that!
LEO: No, it's true! Look, I can't just pretend the last few months didn't happen. This doesn't just erase that! I'm in love with you.
Amy becomes tearful.
AMY: I'm in love with you too. So, it's really important that you go. So we both don't do something we really, really regret.
Amy closes the door on Leo, and cries.
