Ramsay Street
Sheila asks Naomi how Mark is, and invites the two of them over for a roast dinner. Naomi says she doesn't think Mark will be up to it, but Sheila insists that Naomi invites him.
Paul's penthouse
Nick and Paul are preparing to play a game of chess.
NICK: You hate to lose, don't you?
PAUL: Not as much as I like to win.
Paul says it's been a privilege having Nick as his doctor and his friend, adding that he's left a large sum for the Cancer Centre in his will. Nick suggests that Paul should donate it now to improve his odds.
NICK: I've already told you. I'm on the verge of a cure.
Paul asks if there is a good chance, and Nick guarantees it, commenting that Paul doesn't want to go out on a losing streak - just as Nick wins the chess game!
Outside Harold's
Well, it's a million dollar Cancer Centre, so obviously Imogen is designing the prospectus. Josh is pleased that everyone is supporting the centre - apart from Georgia, which is a shame. Imogen says that Paige hasn't sent her the artwork, and she's currently at a doctor's appointment with Amber. Josh doesn't want to talk about it.
Danni walks purposefully towards the door of Harold. Imogen challenges her.
IMOGEN: You do realise the Turners own that store. As in Senior Constable Matt Turner?
DANNI: Yeah, I, er, I wasn't planning on going in.
Hmm, well, maybe she was planning on reading the writing or something...
Danni accepts Imogen's suggestion to leave. Josh watches her go, looking thoughtful.
No 24
Toadie asks Mark why Naomi dumped him. Mark wonders if it's because he was sick, but Toadie's doubtful. Tyler comes in with dirty shoes and Mark tells him off, then lays in to him because he isn't at work. Toadie comments that he isn't a bundle of joy, and then invites him to come out for the evening with him and Nate.
MARK: Not a chance. I feel like death.
Toadie tells him a night out could be just what he needs.
Waterhole
Karl tells Nick they've had a lot of enquiries about the Cancer Centre, from both patients and oncologists. He asks Nick if he wants help with Paul, seeing as he will presumably be heading up the centre.
NICK: I'm not in the habit of palming off my patients.
Karl points out that these are top specialists. Nick stutters that he is the only doctor that Paul wants.
Paul's penthouse
Naomi tells Paul that the Quill Group have accepted the offer for Lassiter's. Paul wants to go out and celebrate. Naomi says he should stay in the apartment, but he doesn't want to.
PAUL: Naomi, if I beat this illness, it's because of you. And if I don't, then... I don't want you remembering me as some sickly old codger in his ivory tower.
Naomi agrees that they can go and have one drink in the complex.
Matt's memorial
Danni is laying some flowers when Josh walks up. She apologises for being there and explains she had been to the police station earlier. He is sympathetic, and offers to listen if she wants to talk.
DANNI: Why would you care about me?
JOSH: Because I can see what you're going through. I've been there.
Danni says she wish she could take back those few seconds after she got the text. Josh says he could have stopped himself from hitting Chris.
JOSH: One stupid mistake, and no amount of wishing can take that back.
DANNI: Doesn't stop me wishing it, every minute, every day.
JOSH: Me too.
He tells her that the only thing she has control of is how she lives her life.
No 24
Toadie and Nate are arm wrestling. Tyler bets $10 on Nate, followed by a $20 bet by Nate himself. Toadie unexpectedly bets with a toy mouse(?), which causes Nate to lose. Toadie is over-excited! Mark has agreed to go out, though he's not as enthusiastic as Tyler and Toadie. Sheila arrives to see if Mark is coming for dinner. He tells that he and Naomi have split up, and Sheila is really disappointed.
Harold's
Imogen is showing Nick the prospectus. He's impressed, and says that her belief has helped him see it through. She says that he has inspired her and Josh, though their dreams are small compared to his.
IMOGEN: You're going to find a cure for cancer!
Nick tries to look modest.
Waterhole
Paul and Naomi drink a toast to the sale of Lassiter's: the end of an era and the start of a new one. He reminds her it's confidential. Karl comes over, saying it's good to see him out and about. Georgia appears somewhat randomly. Sheila challenges Naomi about breaking up with Mark, saying it was a ridiculous decision.
SHEILA: Think of all those gorgeous grandchildren you and Mark are going to give me.
Sheila can't understand why Naomi doesn't think Mark is right for her.
NAOMI: Since I have feelings for Paul, OK?
Sheila thinks it's ridiculous. She says she's seen Paul work his charms before, but Naomi says that Paul is a better man than people give him credit for. She also thinks he may have feelings for her. Sheila tells her to think hard about what she's given up - Mark is heartbroken. Naomi points out that Mark will easily find someone else. Paul needs her.
SHEILA: It's nice to be needed love, but that doesn't mean you should throw your life away just because you feel sorry for a man who's dying.
Lassiter's complex
Danni asks Josh how he copes with the guilt. He explains how he cooked meals for Chris, even though Chris didn't want him to. Danni can't imagine what she can do for the Turners... Josh says he's sure they will forgive her. She doesn't think so.
JOSH: Well, either way, you need to learn to forgive yourself.
He says he's only just started to forgive himself. He adds that anytime she wants to talk, he will listen, explaining that it has helped him as well. She thanks him.
Imogen and Nick are walking through the complex, and she sees Josh and Danni talking. She tells Nick she wants to talk to Josh.
Waterhole
Karl and Paul are chatting, when Paul starts feeling dizzy then he collapses. Sheila and Naomi come in. Naomi rushes over, and she calls Nick. Georgia meanwhile calls for an ambulance.
Harold's
Imogen challenges Josh about his talking to Danni. He says he knows what Danni's going through. Imogen reminds him that Danni was responsible for killing Matt.
JOSH: I could've killed Chris. She made a bad decision. You telling me you've never once peeped at your phone while driving?
Imogen says nothing. Josh says he's learnt that nothing is black and white, which is why he'll always be there if Danni needs to talk.
Waterhole
Karl is examining Paul, who is unconscious on the floor. Nick arrives and wants to do his own examination.
KARL: It's OK. The ambulance is on its way.
NICK: No, no. No, no. Cancel it.
KARL: What?!
GEORGIA: He's unconscious!
NICK: I'm his specialist.
GEORGIA: Yeah, and he can hardly breathe. He needs oxygen. Probably antibiotics.
NICK: I - I will decide that.
KARL: No, you won't. This is an emergency. He has to get to hospital. It's not your call.
Nick and Naomi look very worried.
Unmissable Drama
- Karl orders some tests for Paul, while a worried Nick tries to insist he arranges the tests
- Daniel comes to see how Paul is getting on
- Georgia has some documents that prove what Nick has been doing.
- Nick with some documents
