Toadie is loading the dishwasher when Sonya groans and holds her bump. He asks if it's a contraction, but she passes it off as a Braxton-Hicks, because it's not time yet. He'd know if it was the real thing:
SONYA: Alex [the doula] says if you can't talk through them, they'll be the real thing.
Sonya goes to call Alex, while Toadie sneakily makes a call...
No 28
...to Karl, who tells him to stay calm. Summer walks in and is surprised to see Carmel emerge from the direction of the bedrooms, carrying two glasses of wine. Carmel says that Karl asked her to stay. Summer asks what's going on.
CARMEL: I was on my own having a wine.
SUMMER: I meant with Toadie and Sonya.
Karl goes off to see Sonya and Carmel goes to bed. Summer frowns.
No 30
Toadie tells Karl that Sonya is in pain. She isn't pleased that Toadie has disrupted their birthing plan. Toadie says he was worried. Karl asks a few questions, and agrees that things seem fine.
TOADIE: What should I do?
SONYA: Why don't you send a tweet or something?
Alex arrives. Karl tells Toadie to relax - he'll be seeing his baby soon!
Harold's
Rhys finds Vanessa doing some stretches, and he asks how she is. She answers grumpily that she is still pregnant: she has insomnia, heartburn and 10 extra kilos. There's a squeal from Georgia, who's read Toadie's tweet saying that the baby is arriving. Vanessa isn't impressed that it's early. Rhys says that 37 weeks is technically full term.
VANESSA: So you mean I've done four extra weeks for nothing?
RHYS: Better overcooked than undercooked.
Georgia claims to have a relative who was 4 weeks overdue, which Rhys says is impossible. Georgia is undeterred.
GEORGIA: How cool would it be if you had a baby on Christmas Day?
If looks could kill, Georgia would be a goner.
No 28
Susan arrives and asks how Carmel is doing - she's worried she might have felt obliged to accept Karl's offer. Summer says she enjoys Karl's company. Susan asks Summer about a course in Paris which she was looking at on her laptop. Sum says it would be amazing. Susan says she's pleased as she's given her a reference. She's sure Summer will get a place - and she wants to come to visit! Carmel appears from the bathroom. Susan invites her for breakfast, but Carmel declines as she has to unpack and do some washing. She gets a bit flustered when Summer suggests she should do Karl's sheets. Susan says she doesn't have to stay, but Carmel says she's settling in fine. Summer agrees wryly.
Harold's
Lucas asks Vanessa if she's heard about Sonya and Toadie. She says if she could jump for joy, she would, but she just wants it to be over. He says she needs a distraction. She says she's not going home to lie down. However he has another idea.
By a park bench
Lucas is taking photos of a prone Vanessa, in her last few days before motherhood. She gets fed up and he helps her onto the bench. He continues to snap away, talking about the baby will look like. Then she looks say because she known her mother won't be involved.
VANESSA: She's my baby's nonna. She should be here.
Lucas tells her that he'll be there. She says she has to get back.
Harold's
Vanessa tells Lucas the photosession was lovely. She goes off to prepare lunch whil Lucas sits at a table and rings Francesca, who won't speak to him.
No 30
Sonya is on the phone to Callum, telling him to stay at school, since it's all fine. Toadie asks Alex whether things should be moving on after 14 hours. Alex it's normal. Sonya has a contraction, which she breathes through. Toadie is on edge, and asks her if she wants painkillers or a snack. Alex he has something which will help: a relaxation technique - which we see is for Toadie! Toadie gets a text, which is a weather update: he doesn't want to drive to the hospital in the rain. He goes off to check Sonya's bag. She is getting increasingly annoyed.
Harold's
Lucas takes an order to a table and insists Vanessa take a break. Georgia comes for cake for Toadie and Sonya, which Lucas gets for her. Meanwhile she wants to "give bub a rub".
GEORGIA: Oh, bub's dropped down, locked and loaded!
Lucas is taking a sneaky look in Vanessa's address book, and writes her mum's address on his hand. He tells her he has to leave.
No 30
Toadie is giving Sonya a back rub. Georgia arrives, and Toadie wants her to stay. Sonya irritably tells him millions of woman have babies every day. She stomps off to have a bath.
No 28
Tash asks Summer when she would go to Paris if she got it. Summer says it would be really soon, but points out that they are just checking referees at this stage. Tash says that Susan will have raved about her. Summer says that's why she feels bad about Carmel. Tash says Summer doesn't *know* they're together. Summer gives her a look. Tash agrees that they flirt.
SUMMER: He was doing his shirt up. They were in his bedroom together.
TASH: Way too much information.
Summer can't understand it: Karl had told her Carmel was like a sister, but then he asked her to move in. Susan is going to be really hurt.
A street
Lucas is riding his bike
Charlie's
Susan and Carmel are chatting when Summer arrives. She wants to tells Susan that she got the place in Paris. Susan is thrilled for her. Summer says she'll miss her, but Susan says she'll be too busy having a good time. Carmel nips off after congrulating Summer, and Susan says she feels closer to her sister than she has for years. Summer looks uncomfortable.
Harold's
Tash comes in and remarks that Vanessa is massive.
TASH: What if it's like so big it can't come out?
Vanessa glares at her.
Another street
Lucas parks his bike outside a house.
Harold's
Vanessa tells Tash that work keeps her mind keeps off things. Tash says she'll be fine when the baby comes. They just eat and sleep, right?
Outside the house
Lucas turns off his phone because the battery is low.
Harold's
Vanessa's waters break. A customer asks if she needs an ambulance. Vanessa asks Tash to call Lucas.
Francesca's house (garden)
Lucas finds Francesca in the garden and says he needs to talk about Vanessa.
Harold's
Tash says she got voicemail. She and the other customer help Vanessa outside. She leans on a table where two customers are eating.
TASH: Baby's coming. Enjoy your cake.
Rhys sees Vanessa and runs over. He asks if she's OK. Since she can't answer, Tash points out that she's in labour and that her contractions are on top of each other. Rhys says he'll drive her to hospital.
