This week on Neighbours
- Wedding chat for Lucas
- A warning from Paul on the subject of weddings
- Bradley explaining himself to Susan
- Karl warning Susan to let it go
Previously on Neighbours
- Sophie not wanting help from Chris.
- Vanessa's mum discovering her daughter is pregnant.
- Lucas telling Vanessa's mum he's the father and that they are a couple in love!
Number 32
Mrs Villante is after all the details from "the couple" over how they met etc when Lou walks in, ranting at someone on the phone - not giving mum a good impression but he quickly works the charm offensive and Lucas adding in that he's bubs' godfather. "You're a catholic?" Mrs Villante asks and after a quick look at Lucas, who is quietly nodding, he replies yes! "That's something I suppose," she replies and Lucas takes Lou into the corridor to ask him to play along with the plan that they are together as a couple.
LOU: That's asking for trouble isn't it?
LUCAS: Just do us a favour and be the perfect godfather okay?
"I'll do my best," Lou mutters as they rejoin the quarrelling ladies.
Mrs Villante now wants them all to go out for coffee so she can to know them and get a feel of the area her grandchild is going to be raised in. Lou is told to excuse himself as he's apparently got something on but not before asking the pair if they haven't bitten off more than they can chew after Mrs Villante heads outside first. "Probably," Lucas replies but he's going to give it his all and convince mum that they are indeed a couple.
Harold's Store
After criticising the cheesecake (should have used butter not oil!) Mrs Villante begins the grilling starting with Lucas' occupation. She doesn't seem too enamoured at that one and wants to grill "Luke" alone - probably a good thing because Rhys has entered the store and neither can stop staring at each other!
Charlie's
Lou is seeking solace at the bar and ends up unloading all to Kyle but then the foot is turned when Kyle brags about what a great godfather he's already been to Jellyfish.
KYLE: If you want to impress Vanessa's mum you'd better step it up old man!
Number 22
Cal checks that it really is fine for them to hang out with Sophie after what happened the other day. She assures him she is good now and has got plenty of supplies in. Rani (and Harley) are next in and she hopes Sophie doesn't mind Harley coming along. "That's fine," Soph replies.
Harley is lapping up the technology Paul has around the place especially the sound system until Sophie yells for it to be turned off, ultimately doing it herself when he doesn't.
Lassiters complex/Harold's Store
Vanessa is literally patrolling the outside of Harold's preventing anyone from going inside - including Sonya who is just after something to eat...And the reason is her mum is interrogating Lucas to make sure he is good enough for her daughter!
Vanessa is forced to explain their plan to Sonya (because she was insistent on going into the store) and she thinks it's a crazy plan.
VANESSA: Please Sonya I'm pregnant and I'm single. If I don't handle this carefully, I won't have a family to turn to. I'll be completely alone.
Sonya eventually gives in to Vanessa's begging to keep quiet.
Charlie's
Lou bemoans to Kate about how hard it is to get membership at the MCG when he comes off the phone to them. She quizzes him on whether it's the right strategy to win Mrs Villante over and suggests he might be better doing something more akin to her traits - like religion. "I could get some advice from Jellybelly," Lou immediately replies since he is religious, although not the same persuasion as Mrs V.
LOU: (all religious) Go in peace my child!
Harold's Store
Mrs Villante has finished her interrogation of Lucas and leaves to go talk with Vanessa.
Lucas meets Sonya at the counter and she tells him about knowing what his chat was about and quizzes him on where this leaves him now with Vanessa, afterall he was supposed to be over her. He replies that he is doing this for Vanessa but she doesn't see it that way and feels the longer they keep up the pretence, the more he's going to get hurt.
Lassiters complex
Lucas exits the store to hear Mrs Villante giving Vanessa her de-brief and the upshot is Lucas isn't good enough for her daughter!
Number 32
The warring Villante ladies arrive back home still no closer to seeing each other's points of views when Lou interrupts with some tea for them all and the start of the charm offensive! Mrs Villante is happy to hear too that Lou is a regular church goer although she throws a spanner in the works by wanting to not only meet the priest who will be conducting the baptism but also the St. Christopher medal he got when he was confirmed (and which he intends handing over to bubs).
Number 32 exterior
Lou is busy looking for his St. Christopher (got it in a lucky dip in 1963!!) when Kate arrives to lend a hand and ultimately finds it for him in amongst his various boxes but when he opens the box its empty.
Number 22
Callum and Harley disagree over what DVD to watch and as their argument gets a bit heated, the tossing of the football back and forth gets thrown that bit harder too, so much so that when Harley throws it at Callum, it ricochets off is arm and bounce towards one of Paul's pictures/posters causing it to come off the wall and smash to the floor. "Good one!" Rani pipes up and Cal goes to sort it but Sophie orders everyone out of the house.
Garage
Just as Lucas finishes sending a text to Vanessa asking if she's alright, he gets a visitor - Sophie looking for Chris. She tells him about the plan of reaching out to her mates backfiring and that she lost it with them, more so because of Harley. "I can't stand being around him," she bemoans. She adds that she doesn't like his traits either and Chris asks if that because he reminds her of someone - her. He urges her to let it go, what happened wasn't her fault. She begs to hang out in the garage and Chris agrees.
Chris heads over to where Lucas is as Sophie hobbles to sit in the office char. Lucas asks/requests that the place isn't going to turn into a drop in centre but Chris explains that Sophie just needs someone at the moment and he isn't sure what to do. "Fair enough," Lucas replies before leaving to head home.
Number 32 exterior
Lucas arrives home as Lou is still raking for his medal, well his address book which has the address of where he flogged it! "And how's that going to help you?" Lucas asks and Lou replies he's going to go get it back! Lucas can't believe he's planning on going all the way to Queensland to get it and suggests buying a new one locally instead, claiming Mrs Villante won't know the difference. Lou explains that he wants to do it, so that bubs' has something that he owned and might appreciate the trouble that went into getting it back. He then gives Lucas the preverbal pat on the back for what he is doing.
Number 32
Lucas enters the house and Mrs Villante gives him the thumbs up over choosing Lou as godfather. He tries to talk to her but she blanks him so he decides to be open with her, to see if that changes her stance.
LUCAS: I'm in love with your daughter. I'm crazy about her. I love her passion and her pig-headed stubbornness. Every day I spend with her my feelings get stronger. That scares me because yes, I have been a loner, I have made mistakes, I've lost people I care about but I will not lose Vanessa no matter who tries to come between us. Look, I know things are complicated but I promise you right now, that while they are with me, your daughter and your grandchild won't go without. I'm going to stand by Vanessa and the baby whether you like it or not.
Mrs Villante then gets up, saying she needs to call her husband.
(Later)
Final commercial break later and Lucas is sitting on the sofa awaiting the return of Mrs Villante when Vanessa walks in. "I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing," she admits when he said that her mum was off calling her dad. He also tells her about their conversation, well the fact she actually listened to him.
Mrs Villante returns following her call and gives them the news - while they aren't exactly happy at what has happened, they are willing to accept 'them' as a couple and to support it. Both thank her and then she announces that there is a lot to do.
LUCAS: What for?
FRANCESCA: The wedding!
LUCAS and VANESSA: ...
FRANCESCA: Well you've made a commitment to my daughter and I respect you for that but now you need to make things right.
And both Vanessa and Lucas are still in shock as the promo begins!
