This week on Neighbours
- Vanessa wanting to know what secret Lucas is hiding.
- Kate unamused at blackjack being played in the bar.
- Toadie questioning his parenting skills.
Previously on Neighbours
- Paul throwing a hissy fit.
- Zoe walking out on Paul.
- Callum agreeing to spend time with Troy if he drops the court case.
Cal is making his way over to see Troy when Sophie spots him and calls him over. She starts to tell him about Paul/Zoe but his focus is more in watching Troy who has just arrive home. Eventually she calls an end to their conversation (because she can see it's very much one- sided) and as she heads inside, Cal makes his way over to #32.
Troy lets Callum into the house and cuts straight to the choice – what is his decision.
Rani thanks Sonya for still allowing her to work at the nursery but is told what's going on is nothing to do with her.
Toadie appears wondering where Callum is as he was due to be working and Sonya explains that he's at home working on a school assignment. Rani almost lands him in it by saying her class has already done that particular assignment.
Troy agrees to Callum's deal as long as he promises to keep up his end too. “But no- one can know about this,” Callum adds. Troy takes the hump with Cal referring to Toadie as dad and tries to say it's hard for them all to adjust before roping Cal into helping paint the house with him.
Paul is on the phone to Susan trying to do damage limitation over what happened with Priya but isn't getting any favours yet from his editor!
Rani spots Sophie in the store and quizzes her on this school assignment and right enough there isn't one due in. She is beginning to worry about her friend but Sophie reassures her he'll be fine and that he just needs some time to himself just now.
Paul tries again to get hold of Zoe but she's ignoring his calls. “Should have said please,” Sophie pipes up after he's hung up the phone. She leaves and Andrew questions his dad whether it's right to chase Zoe or not. Paul rejects that he is doing that, but concedes he needs her help to sort out what happened with the school – he is really fretting that all the good hard work that has been done in the past couple of weeks are going to go out the window if he can't put a spin on what happened before the newspaper come out. Andrew's suggestion is to simply hire another PR manager and Paul counteracts by saying he's already got the best one!
ANDREW: But if she will not call you back…
Looks like what Andrew said has gotten through because Paul tries to get himself a new one but despite a number of calls, fails to get/find one.
Sophie isn't amused to find out what her uncle has been doing and urges him to mend things with Zoe but he doesn't think it will work and resumes the hunt to find someone.
Troy and Callum finish painting but there is still this tension between them. As soon as he finishes cleaning the paint off his hands, Cal announces he's off.
As he exits #32, Cal hides using Troy's car as camouflage because Andrew is out cleaning Paul's car. Weighing up the odds, he decides to make a runner for #30 only to be sprung by the waiting Rani!
Rani pushes him about lying to Sonya and when he still won't talk, she demands to know what is going on. He wants her to get off his case but she admits that she is worried about him and wants to know why he was at Troy's place. Cal refuses to say and says that she can't tell anyone.
RANI: You really think you can keep this a secret? You live next door to him; your parents are going to find out eventually. Besides, they should know.
CALLUM: You don't know anything about this so just shut up and if you tell anyone we're done as friends.
He then heads into the house leaving Rani upset over what's just been said to her as we go into the first commercial break.
Sonya is stunned to hear that Troy has dropped the case thanks to a call from Toadie. Cal plays the part well when she tells him and tries to distract her that there is nothing suss about this sudden development.
SONYA: I'm sorry Cal but there's something that doesn't make sense and until it does I'm not going to believe it.
Sophie lures Zoe to a meeting on the pretence that she needs help with a media studies assignment. Zoe sees right through Sophie but refuses to give into Sophie's plea to help Paul because he doesn't do what he's told! Soph then tries the ‘Paul likes you' card but that doesn't convince Zoe to help him either.
With Paul momentarily distracted on hotel business, Sophie sneaks into the foyer and does something on his phone. When he spots her, she tells him that Zoe called and wants a meeting with him at Charlie's later on. Paul rushes out and she calls out to him not to muck it up!!
Sonya and Callum are round at Susan's to collect Toadie since he can now come home. The adults are very suspicious of this sudden development and Cal does his best to steer them in the opposite direction I.e. not to read too much into it and that he wants them to stop talking about it.
As they chat, Toadie gets a call from Ajay and he heads to another room in the flat to take the call. He returns moments later with an update – while Troy has dropped the access case, he hasn't dropped the intervention order, thus he can't come home.
Nobody really picks up the significance of Callum saying “he can't do that,” but you can tell he is very annoyed!
Paul returns with coffees for himself and Zoe and she thanks him for the text he sent, remarking it made a pleasant change after the calls! He's a bit bemused by that and plays along when Zoe mentions Sophie's fake media assignment meeting with her.
ZOE: She really must care about you, to go to that kind of effort.
PAUL: Yes, she's persistent alright!
Zoe suggests they have something to eat, which Paul readily agrees to and as he goes to the bar to get some menus, he quickly checks his iPhone to see what Sophie sent!
Could I at least buy you a coffee at Charlies?
As Paul is paying for their food, Sophie enters the bar to check on how their meeting is going! He begrudgingly thanks her for her involvement but orders her to clear off so Zoe doesn't get suspicious!
When he returns to the table, he wants them to have a meeting to discuss the photo and how to react to it but she refuses to help because he doesn't value what she is trying to do for him.
ZOE: You'll just wheel me in when you get yourself into trouble then ignore me when you don't like what I have to say. I can't work like that Paul, I don't want to. But, if you would like to keep doing this on a personal level, I'm open to that.
PAUL: Mmm, I'd like that.
As Paul leans in to kiss her, Zoe pulls back announcing that she has to go as she has clients to meet.
Sonya kisses Toadie goodbye as she wants to go check on Callum as he was quiet when they left Susan's. Susan tries to cheer Toadie up by saying that the hearing for the intervention order is only a couple of days away.
TOADIE: Yeah I'd better concentrate on winning that.
He then admits his fears to Susan about how Callum is dealing with this, particularly as Sonya says he has been really quiet.
“You're a liar,” Callum shouts at Troy when he turns into the driveway of #32. Troy tries to say that their deal only covered the access case, not the intervention order.
CALLUM: I just want my family back together. For you to stop making them so miserable.
Troy wants them to discuss it inside, citing it's more private, but Cal refuses as there is nothing to talk about. A new deal is put on the table – he will drop the intervention at the haring in a couple of days as long as Cal keeps coming around until then.
CALLUM: I want it dropped now!
TROY: No, I can't do that. Not until I can trust you're going to keep up your end of the deal.
“I have!” Cal pleads, reminding Troy about helping him paint his house. Troy explains that he wants to make sure that Cal won't change his mind when Toadie gets back.
Toadie approaches Rani and Sophie to subtly ask that if Cal were to talk to them that they should then tell him. “Of course,” Sophie relies and pleased with what he's heard, leaves the store with Susan.
Cal is trying to get away from Troy, telling him that he doesn't want anything to do with him after he reneged on their deal. Troy threatens to go to court for shared custody and Cal reminds him that he's already dropped the case. “I can get it reinstated,” he taunts Callum with.
TROY: Look, if you don't want to see me things can go back to exactly the way they were. All that stress on Toadie and Sonya… while she's pregnant. But that's not what you want is it?
Sonya then appears walking up the street and does a double take at where Callum is. She rants at Troy and tells him to stay away from Callum before the pair of them leave the driveway.
Final commercial break later and Sonya wants to know why Callum was there and if Troy threatened him as they head up their own driveway. Cal tells her he went over there.
SONYA: You can't reason with a person like that. You're putting yourself at risk even by going over there.
CALLUM: I'm not. I went over there ‘cos I wanted to see him.
(both of them turn to look at Troy)
CALLUM: You know this whole court case and the access thing it's made me think… a lot. And I realised that if Troy's changed like he says he has I should give him a chance. I haven't done that since he's been back.
SONYA: You said you wanted nothing to do with him.
CALLUM: I know what I said but he's my biological father and I want to get to know him.
CALLUM: I thought I'd spend some time with him, helping him with his renovations.
(Sonya gives Troy the evil eye)
SONYA: Are you sure that's what you really want?
I don't think Sonya can believe what she's just heard but she gives her permission to him and when Cal walks back to see Troy, she gives the smug one an evil eyed look again.
