Ajay and Troy arrive. Troy smirks at Jade.
Susan comes in and tells Vanessa that the cooking class has been cancelled - the teacher is sick. Susan suggests that Vanessa could fill in. Vanessa says she'll try to get cover for the shop.
Rhys comes in and asks after Susan's health. He's surprised to hear that Vanessa is going to take the cooking class.
Jade is waiting to be called in to the hearing. Kyle is trying to calm her down.
Toadie comes out and tells them the preliminaries are finished. Now it's time for Jade to come in - but Kyle can't come in with her.
Inside, Troy is looking piercingly at Jade, trying to intimidate her.
JADE:(haltingly) When I was seventeen, I was in a relationship with Troy Miller. I relise now that what happened in that relationship...has affected my whole life.
JADE: Troy was violent. Frequently. And I have been dealing with the impact of it ever since.
TOADIE: Go on.
JADE: At the time, I accepted it as something that just happened. It was my first relationship and I didn't know any better. But now I know that what I went through was not acceptable, not for me, and not for any other woman. Troy had an unpredicatable temper. The smallest thing would set him off. He was controlling, and he hated me spending time with other people, especially men. Once I spent an afternoon with my friend Adam. When Troy found out, that was the first time I ended up in hospital. The second time was when he said I had spoken back to him, and needed to be taught a lesson. I'm still dealing with the effects of it today. It has affected my relationships with men and my family ever since.
TOADIE: If I may ask, why didn't you leave Troy?
JADE: There's not a day that goes by that I don't ask myself the same question.
TROY: It's lies, all of it.
SONYA:(emotional) How do you sleep at night?
TROY: I sleep just fine.
Ajay tells him he'll have a chance to respond.
AJAY: Is there any corroborating evidence?
TOADIE: There is. Medical records.
Jade passes over the photos.
TOADIE: With this evidence, we will contest that Troy Miller is not fit to share parenting.
Ajay tells Toadie that there's nothing in the evidence that will alter Troy's application for joint custody of Callum. Toadie counters that it proves that Troy is a violent person, but Ajay says that Troy's name isn't even in any of the reports. This is just an unsubstantiated report. In fact, the only police report they have of an assault on Jade was perpetrated by Sonya(!)
AJAY: I believe your arm was broken in the attack, is that correct?
JADE: That was ancient history, that's got nothing to do with this!
SONYA: It was a mistake. It was years go, it has nothing to do with his application!
AJAY: It's admissable, though. And...we intend to enter it. Unless there's anything else? I think we're done.
TROY: Guess we'll see you in court!
Troy and Ajay leave. Kyle comes in and they explain to him what happened. Toadie tells Jade she was great, but the evidence against Sonya is admissable - Ajay is right. A bit of a row develops.
TOADIE: You know what, it'd be a whole lot easier if we didn't have this evidence in the first place!
SONYA: So, what are you saying?
TOADIE: Errr...nothing! I'm saying that we're in trouble.
SONYA: So, you're blaming me.
TOADIE: No, no I'm not.
SONYA: So if I didn't break Jade's arm, Troy would have nothing, is that about right?
SONYA: No, no, OK!
She storms out.
Vanessa is setting up the cooking class. One of the women is rather awkward. Then Rhys turns up - as a student(!)
Rhys and the awkward woman (Tiffany) is working with Rhys and chatting him up at the same time(!) Vanessa sends her off to get some more hoisin sauce from the pantry, then asks Rhys what he's doing there. He says he just fancied doing some cooking(!)
Susan answers the phone to Toadie and he gives her the bad news. She decides to leave the class early to meet him.
Toadie has filled Susan in on the details of the hearing and looks rather dejected.
Sonya, Kyle and Jade are also having a post- mortem. Callum comes in and wants to know what happened.
Toadie is berating himself for having a row with Sonya. Susan advises him to call her.
Callum is not pleased, and doesn't believe them that everything will turn out OK. Kyle suggests they go outside and kick a football.
Sonya tells Jade that if Troy gets custody of Callum, it'll be her fault. Jade tells her that's not true.
SONYA: I just want to know when my past will stop coming back to haunt me!
The phone rings, but Sonya doesn't want to talk to Toadie yet.
Toadie is upset to get Sonya's voicemail. He decides to go over to the house. Susan tries to stop him - what about the intervention order? But he won't be reasoned with.
Tiffany is still flirting with Rhys and Vanessa gets angrier and angrier. She calls Rhys up to assist her with a demonstration.
Sonya is frantically hoovering when Toadie comes in. She doesn't hear him, and screams when she realises he's standing behind her(!) She tells him she shouldn't be here and Toadie assures her no- one saw him - he jumped the back fence. He apologises for their row, and knows that Sonya has worked hard to put her past behind her. Sonya apologises too and they hug.
Callum comes in and is shocked to see Toadie there. They hug.
Sonya, Toadie, Callum, Jade and Kyle are relaxing and catching up. Toadie says he feels like the Scarlet Pimpernel.
Jade thanks Kyle for his support today. But just then there's a bang on the door - it's the police.
Kyle answer the door and tells the police that Toadie isn't there. But apparently they've had a report that he is. The police come in, and of course, Toadie is there. They tell Kyle and Callum off for lying to them.
The police lead Toadie out to the police car. Troy is in the front garden and smirks. Toadie tells Sonya and Callum that he'll just be taken to the police station for a chat.
When the car drives off, Callum looks over at Troy, fury on his face.
