- Elaine warns Rhys to do the right thing by Vanessa.
- Karl warns Susan to be careful stress doesn't cause an MS relapse.
- Susan goes to the hospital. Rhys tells her that her symptoms may get worse at some stage.
Susan sees Rhys sitting at a table - he is frantically trying to memorise a Cherry Cheesecake recipe. Susan is surprised and he explains that he's learning to cook using his instincts. Susan tells him that it's all about experimentation, not rote learning. She tells him that she's off to yoga class in half an hour and he's pleased that she's followed his advice.
Outside Harold's Store
Susan sees Karl. She tells him that she's doing yoga at the Community Centre to relax. Karl is pleased.
As Susan walks away, she sees Paul. He has a go at her about the budgets for the paper and says she'd better get the figures ready. She assures him she'll have them ready in the next day or two. When he's gone, she turns away from the Community Centre and goes back to the office, exasperated.
Summer is surprised to see Susan working at Charlie's (me too, does no- one work in their offices these days?!). She says Susan deserves some relaxation time and she has to think about her health. Summer says she was hoping to come to yoga with Susan, then they can both ease their stresses. Susan agrees to put the budget work off for an hour.
Karl, Ajay and the other band member (Adrian) are rehearsing. Karl and Ajay are sniping at each other a bit. Ajay and Adrian think they're ready for their first gig, but Karl isn't so sure. Ajay says he's got some contacts at the council, but Karl tells him stiffly that he'll sort it out.
Susan and Summer have arrived for the yoga class. They are greeted by the teacher, Bernard.
Susan, Summer and the class are doing yoga. Susan and Summer do seem a lot more relaxed at the end. Summer teases Susan about having a lot of "personal attention" from the teacher. Susan says Bernard was just correcting her pose. On the way out, Bernard smiles at Susan.
Vanessa is struggling to open a box and Lucas gives her a hand. It's Vanessa's new mixer from Rhys. Lucas is surprised to hear this and looks a bit worried. He heads out.
Lucas finds Rhys sitting at the bar. They immediately start a testosterone- fuelled sniping session.
LUCAS: I've been looking for you.
RHYS: Well, you've found me.
LUCAS: Your little gift, the one you gave Vanessa?
RHYS: Just trying to make her life a bit easier.
LUCAS: Give all your patients presents, do you?
RHYS: Not all of them, no.
LUCAS: OK, we both know what this is.
RHYS: Just me being a friend.
LUCAS: You don't have any friends. I'm just trying to look out for her.
RHYS: Ah, like you looked out for her the day she came into the hospital. She was lucky to get in the door before she collapsed.
LUCAS: I'm not proud of the way I acted. Things are different now, I'm different.
RHYS: You're stepping up?
LUCAS: Yeah, Vanessa's my responsibility.
RHYS: And I should just back off, is that it?
LUCAS: Your going to be no good for her.
RHYS: I'm not the one who knocked her up and then abandoned her.
LUCAS: No, you'll be the one that gets her hopes up. And then dumps her when it all gets too real.
RHYS: Is that right?
LUCAS: Yeah. Leave her alone.
Andrew is sitting at a table talking to someone about the Red Cotton gig. Karl comes along and asks Andrew if he'll take on a new band - specifically, The Right Prescription. Andrew tells him he deals with younger music, but Karl says his music is very youthful - they do a great Kylie Minogue cover(!) Andrew grimaces and tells Karl that he can't take them on.
When Andrew has gone, Ajay comes up and tells Karl that he's got them a gig at Charlie's. Karl is peeved that Ajay didn't leave things to him, but agrees.
Rhys is sitting at a table, looking at his watch.
Vanessa is making cupcakes and waiting for Rhys. Lucas says he just saw Rhys at the pub and he didn't mention anything about dinner with Vanessa. Vanessa calls Rhys, but after a few rings, he rejects the call. Lucas suggests that he and Vanessa have dinner instead.
Rhys texts Vanessa, "Something's come up. Can't make dinner". He looks rather conflicted.
Susan and Summer are just finishing the budget work when Bernard the yoga teacher comes in. Susan invites him to join them, and Summer decides to make a hasty exit(!) Susan and Bernard talk about yoga and apparently Bernard is divorced and used to be an architect. Presently he invites Susan to have a drink with him. She says awkwardly that she's got too much work to do.
Vanessa and Lucas are sitting in the living room. vanessa is feeling very tired. Rhys pops around and apologises profusely for not coming around earlier. Vanessa is very cross with him.
RHYS: I was going to bail, and I don't know why. This is...
VANESSA: Dinner, Rhys.
RHYS: I know. And I was sitting there, and I was thinking about it and I realised I wanted to be here. I really am sorry.
LUCAS: OK, you've already apologised, mate, so um...
RHYS:(to Vanessa) It's not really too late is it? And I've got dessert right her, all part of the deal. So? Can I stay.
VANESSA: Call next time.
Lucas just stands there looking vexed.
Harold's Store, the following morning
Summer asks Susan what happened with Bernard. She says nothing happened, but does admit that he asked her out for a drink. Susan says she's not ready for the whole dating thing. Summer says she doesn't have to over- think things, she should just enjoy the attention.
Paul tells Karl that there's an ad in the paper for The Right Prescription's gig. Karl is not pleased that Ajay is taking over. Paul doesn't think anyone will turn up anyway(!)
Susan comes to find Bernard, who is surprised to see her. She invites him out for a drink tonight, and he is even more surprised, but accepts. They agree to meet after his last class.
Karl is putting up posters for The Right Prescription's gig. Susan comes in and he invites her along. She says she's busy and is forced to admit that she's going on a date. Karl takes this well and says she can bring her date along(!) He's obviously a bit shaken, but hides it well.
