Recap
- Rebecca telling Susan to look after Kate
- Rebecca leaving Erinsborough for good
- Paul blaming Michael for Rebecca's departure
- Kate realising Susan knows her secret
Number 28
Kate reads over the statement of no complaint and asks Susan what she's supposed to do now, but they're interrupted by Summer and Toadie arriving home. Kate leaves and Susan fills the duo in on what happened with Rebecca and Declan, pretending to be just as shocked as them by the abrupt departure.
Number 32
Lucas and Mark are checking up on Michael, who is furiously waxing his surfboard in the lounge room. Tash appears and is immediately concerned - her dad only acts like this when he's mad about something. She asks the guys what happened.
Number 22
Paul still appears shellshocked and sits down on the couch before slowly taking off his wedding ring.
Number 32
The guys tell Michael he made the right decision about Rebecca, especially since Paul was never going to let up. Hearing Paul's name makes Michael's anger flare up again and he charges for the front door, ready to go to #22 and punch Paul's lights out. It's only Tash crying out, "You're scaring me!" that makes him stop.
Number 22
Andrew finds his dad and is startled to see that he's fighting back tears. Paul tells him that Rebecca's gone for good. Andrew tries to comfort him but he's not sure how to handle this emotional wreck side of his dad.
Number 24
Mark and Lucas talk about Michael and Rebecca while Kate chops vegies for dinner. The more Rebecca's name is mentioned the more tense Kate gets (and rude - here's a gem from her, "It's Rebecca, she's never thought about anyone except herself"), before she winds up cutting her finger. The secret is weighing heavily on her mind.
Number 32 - Next Morning
Tash has asked Lucas to stop by because she's worried about her dad - he just took off this morning without talking to her. Lucas doesn't get what she wants him to do, but Tash is concerned her dad will go off the rails. Michael arrives home from a surf, guessing that Lucas is there to check up on him. Lucas asks if he wants to grab some lunch but Michael says no, adding that he doesn't need a babysitter.
Later on, Tash is looking through her dad's record collection, lamenting on the horrible 80s fashion. Michael finds her and Tash says she's trying to understand his music taste a little better.
TASH: I get that you love them but how much Noiseworks does one man really need?
MICHAEL: 'Love Versus Money', good album.
TASH: And my two favourite topics. See, we do have things in common!
MICHAEL: I've got another one in there somewhere... I know that you're distracting me, just so we're clear.
But when Michael sorts through the albums and finds the Hunters & Collectors album he used to listen to with Rebecca, he takes it out of the sleeve and smashes it on the coffee table. Tash looks distressed.
Lassiter's Complex
Summer (and her enormous skeleton earrings) bumps into Andrew and tries to make conversation with him about Paul, but Andrew's not in the mood to talk. Across the way, Kate and Mark are chatting on her break but when Kate sees Susan lurking about she quickly rushes back inside the shop.
Harold's Store
Kate is irritated when Susan follows her into the kitchen, telling her that the alibi is none of her business. But Susan reminds her that Rebecca made it her business. Kate doesn't think that Paul will drag the case back up again, but Susan says she can't be 100% sure of that. Kate says she can't go to the police or she'll lose everything, and if Susan really cares about her, she'll keep her mouth shut about it.
First Commercial Break
Harold's Store
Kate gives Susan the stink eye while she's stocking the drinks fridge. Toadie walks in and Susan asks him for advice about a 'story' she's working on where someone gave a false alibi. Toadie says the consequences could very depending on the case - some people may face jail time if it's really bad. Honesty is always the best policy.
Number 22
Susan stops by to check up on Paul (and try and get info about his frame of mind re: Rebecca), but Andrew won't even let her in the door. When Susan leaves we see that Paul's moping on the couch, not wanting to face the day. Andrew eventually needles him into going out for lunch, reminding him that they're Robinsons and they don't let anything or anyone get them down.
Number 32
Tash has asked Lucas for help again before her dad starts smashing everything in the house. Lucas thinks a little Hulk!Smash is a good thing and tells her that blokes need solitude first and talking later - if they even need to chat at all. Tash begs Lucas to try and distract her dad with some bloke time, just as Michael appears from the hall.
LUCAS: Mate I know you said you weren't keen before but I really think we should do lunch.
MICHAEL: Oh brilliant, an intervention.
When Lucas isn't successful in getting Michael out of the house he leaves. Tash hands her dad some surfing magazines she bought for him, which softens Michael a little bit. He even musters up a smile.
Charlie's Bar
Lucas and Toadie are having fun playing pool (and winding up Mark for having OJ instead of a beer), when Michael surprises them by showing up. The fun doesn't last long, though, when Michael sees Paul and Andrew walk in. Unable to help himself, Michael storms over to have it out with Paul, the boys not far behind.
MICHAEL: Pretty happy with yourself are you?
ANDREW: Why don't you boys just go back over there.
PAUL: Andrew, it's alright. Michael, you know me, glass always half full. Speaking of which, I'm very thirsty, I could do with a drink... But it seems a little short- staffed around here.
MICHAEL: You drove her to this.
PAUL: What are you talking about? I was the one who tried to stop her, you got in my way.
LUCAS: (to Michael) Come on, mate, let's just get back to it.
PAUL: You know I thought you would have taken this a little bit better seeing as you were the one that started it all.
MICHAEL: I started it?
PAUL: She was my wife.
MICHAEL: She hated you!
PAUL: And now she's gone. Yeah that's right. She might have left me but you will never, ever have her.
MICHAEL: (trying to swallow his anger) We're done here.
PAUL: Really, is that what you think Michael? Because I haven't even started on you or your family.
MICHAEL: Try it, Paul, seriously. Give me an excuse.
The boys are on guard in case there's signs of a fight, but Paul and Andrew just end up walking out.
Second Commercial Break
Number 32
Michael returns home and apologises to Tash for scaring her before. Tash puts an arm around him and says they'll get through this.
TASH: The two of us make a pretty good team.
MICHAEL: You mean the three of us. Nothing's changed you know. It might not have worked out with Rebecca but family is still the most important thing.
TASH: (uncomfortable) OK, can we stop bonding before I throw up?
Michael pulls her back into a hug and says she's not getting off that easily. He adds that Tash and the little one are the only things that matter to him now. Tash can only sit there, drowning in guilt.
Number 28
Summer can see that Susan looks perturbed (she's re- reading the statement), but Susan claims she's just thinking about a story she's working on. Summer brings up the Napier's departure again and wonders what really went on, but Susan can only say she's as dumbfounded as the rest of them.
Lassiter's Complex
Lucas, Toadie and Mark catch up with Kate while she's cleaning tables. Toadie asks Kate if Declan said goodbye before he left, but Kate just mumbles 'no'. Mark notices her toying with her necklace and tells the guys he'll catch up with them later. Mark asks Kate if she's OK and if she wants to grab a coffee. But Kate says she has to get back home to Sophie. Mark smiles and says the house would probably fall apart without Kate there.
Number 24
Kate's staring at a photo of her, Mark and Sophie when Susan knocks on the door. Kate's annoyed to see her but lets her inside with a sigh of frustration. Susan tries again to convince Kate to go to the police (bringing up the Paul factor again). But when Kate says that she can't go through with it, Susan says she'll have to go to the police station herself.
Third Commercial Break
Police Station - Exterior
Susan hovers outside the entrance but starts to have second thoughts and decides to leave. Kate's also had second thoughts, though, and rushes up to Susan, telling her that she's going to come clean. Susan gives her a hug and says she's doing the right thing, and that she'll be with her for support.
