Steve asking Nicola to keep his secret.
Toadie finding the stuff Callum stole.
Pete telling Steve that someone will pay for what he did.
Toadie telling the Parker's that Steve's conviction has been quashed but is hoping that the DPP will settle on time served for the perjury charge.
Marco telling Franco that he can't have kids.
The General Store
Carmella is trying to reassure Marco that his dad will accept the news but he comes in at their back and stuns them by saying that it could be his fault – he didn't get them immunised as kids and Marco caught the mumps soon after. Marco doesn't take the news well and tells his dad he doesn't care about anyone bar himself. Realising Marco isn't going to talk soon; he tells Carmella it was nice meeting her before departing.
Dan takes Sam home from hospital and runs into Toadie who is working at home (on the Parker case) and babysitting Callum who isn't exactly slow at reminding Sam about her mental problems in the subtle way we know he can be! Toadie tries to get her to talk about the case and despite Dan trying not to let her work; she agrees to help him on Steve's case.
Pin Oak Court
Miranda is fishing to get info from Nicola about the conversation she had with Steve but she keeps Steve's secret despite Miranda telling her that she wants to know if he says anything else in the future.
They run into a stray and Nicola wants take it home for Steve to sort out even if it did try its best to bite Nicola's hand off! Miranda doesn't look too happy at the prospect but doesn't object.
Nicola and Miranda return home minus the dog and she lays it on thick about the stray dog for Steve to go and rescue it and he agrees but only after they've sorted out her hand.
The General Store
Carmella tells Marco that she's been looking on the net and he isn't infertile due to the mumps but he's already found that out for himself. He then bites at Steve when he is looking for antiseptic cream to treat Nicola's hand. Carmella apologises for him before she phones someone (Franco) and walking out the store, tells the caller that they need to talk.
Steve tries his best to ignore Pete when he enters the store but he blocks Steve's exit from the store and is forced to talk to him. Pete gloats at him, telling him to enjoy his last night of freedom – his mates will see him inside.
Sam and Toadie are working on the case together but next we see Sam still working on the case and Toadie snoring his head off, asleep on the couch.
Its morning now and looks like Sam has been up late working on the case. Callum and Toadie enter the livingroom and Toadie confuses him by saying he can't be Perry Mason and Michelangelo at the same time (Callum wants to paint the shed but Toadie has to be in court)
TOADIE: Perry Mason was a lawyer and Michelangelo was a painter that could do some pretty nifty things to your roof.
CALLUM: No he's not. Michelangelo's a ninja turtle.
TOADIE: Ah true, but this guy's also a human and 500 years older.
Toadie thanks Sam for her work and the two of them head out of the house.
Dan has a dig at Sam for staying up late to help Toadie but she points out that is the drawback of being a lawyer. He points out that she's just recovered from an episode and doesn't want her to have another one.
SAM: And the meds will do only so much. I'm never going to be the lawyer that I want to be just like I'm never going to be a mum.
Steve gets ready for court as Miranda fields a good luck call from a neighbour. Steve tells Nicola about his meeting with Pete and what is awaiting him but quickly end their conversation when Miranda returns. Toadie arrives and the Parker family head out the door.
Toadie reads out the statement that Sam helped him with - telling the judge about Steve adopting Didge (and Riley) and how good a parent he is and why he did what he did.
While Toadie is reading out the statement we cut to seeing Sam cuddle a soft toy and Marco, Carmella and Chloe having photo's taken for their family portrait.
Statement over, the judge asks Steve how he pleads (guilty) and doesn't exactly seem too keen on listening to the other factors Toadie is trying to tell her about. She tells Steve that making a false statement was unacceptable even if the motives were noble and is ready to pass judgement but we head off to a commercial break instead.
Marco comes home to find his dad babysitting Chloe thanks to Carmella setting them up to talk. The two of them bond over feeding Chloe and Franco tells Marco that he is a better father than he ever was. With Carmella looking on in the background the two of them kiss and make up.
The champers is flowing so that can only mean one thing – Steve isn't in jail (he got a $10k bond and a community service order). Miranda suggests they invite everyone round to continue the party and heads home before the rest to get things set up.
Miranda arrives home and starts to tidy up the house when Pete walks into the house uninvited. She tells him to leave, saying Steve is next door but he refuses and tells her that he left Steve drinking in the pub.
MIRANDA: Have you been watching us?
He replies that he's been keeping a close eye on Steve and his lovely family and Miranda gets angry when he picks up a photo frame with a family pic inside.
PETE: Your daughter's a pretty girl.
MIRANDA: You keep right away from her.
PETE: Her name's Bridget isn't it.
MIRANDA: I'm serious, you go anywhere near and I'll come after you myself!
PETE: I know Nick was always going on about wanting a daughter one day.
MIRANDA: (confused) Nick?
PETE: Steve didn't mention the name? It's the bloke he hurt - Nick.
MIRANDA: That was self-defence.
PETE: Not the way he tells it. I can't believe he didn't tell you his name.
He throws the photo frame down.
PETE: Well you're not going to forget it now. Are ya?
He advances towards Miranda and the scene cuts to...
The Parker's are trying to decide what kind of wine Miranda likes so they can buy it for the party she is getting ready for.
Miranda is trying to get Pete to talk about it but the phone ringing interrupts their chat but before she answers it, he grabs her arm telling her to watch what she says.
Miranda goes to answer the phone and the scene cuts between the house and the bar.
STEVE: Darling, we're just having a bit of an argument about what kind of wine you like.
MIRANDA: Bridget knows, why don't you get her to buy it.
STEVE: Didge is seventeen: they won't serve her, darling.
MIRANDA: I know that, there might be a problem, Steve.
STEVE: Miranda is everything alright?
MIRANDA: I wouldn't think so, no...
Pete snatches the phone away from her and hangs up. While his back is turned, Miranda grabs a cricket bat from the sports bag on the chair.
Steve announces to the others that there is a problem and everyone follows him as he leaves the bar.
Pete tells Miranda not to take him for an idiot; he knows that Steve is on the way home but adds that it's a pity it's too late. Miranda (with the cricket bat in her hand in a threatening manner) gives him one last chance to leave but he goes “boo” and she jumps!
MIRANDA: (retreating) Don't you go any further.
PETE: Or what? You're going to hit me? (Taunting her) Hit me with the bat?
Steve and the others rush in and he tells Pete to get away from her, taking the cricket bat out of her hands. Miranda confirms that she is okay and that Pete didn't hurt her.
Pete tells him that he should keep Miranda on a leash but Steve doesn't rise to the bait and orders Pete out of the house, threatening to go to the police if he shows his face again. The others taunt Pete that he should leave or they'll all be witnesses to the fact he broke in and threatened Miranda. Eventually he does go after Steve shouts at him to get out of his house.
STEVE: If you ever come near my family again you're going to regret the day you ever met me.
Dan and Libby enter laden with marking to find Sam with Chloe on her knee. She quickly explains that Carmella is there and she appears 2 seconds later to confirm a legal meeting with Toadie for her and Marco before exiting along with Libby.
With the others gone, Sam asks Dan if she is ever going to have a clean slate with him after mentioning the look both he and Libby gave when they arrived home to see her with Chloe. When he doesn't reply to that, she tells him that they need to get out of here.
DAN: You're right. Absolutely, let's go down the coast and rent a cottage or something.
SAM: No, I don't mean a holiday, I mean lets leave. We need to start afresh.
DAN: What move away?
SAM: It's the only way. Dan we need to leave Erinsborough.
