Sophie says Gus was killed using a crowbar and Paul corrects her saying it was actually a shifter. Sophie asks if Paul's got anything else to add.
A cheerful Rebecca returns home with lots of shopping, but Paul's not quite so cheery. He tells Rebecca that he loves her to which replies that she loves him too. Sensing that something is up, she wants to know what's going on.
Pepper talks about the dinner she's made as Carmella's come over. Things are a bit tense so Carmella suggests she leaves, but Pepper won't have it. Adam arrives home and Pepper goes into the hallway to speak to him. She says Frazer and Carmella had a fight about Rosie and they need Adam's help to get things sorted. Pepper asks how Adam's first day at work was, but he says she doesn't want to know. She's got lots of questions, but Adam isn't up to talking so goes to grab a shower.
Rebecca's trying to work out what could be on Paul's mind. She asks if it's do with Richard, but he says no.
PAUL: I've had some memories coming back. Bits and pieces of my old life.
REBECCA: Yes, well we've been through this. We're not going to let the past, yours or mine, come between us.
PAUL: *Bad* memories. One in particular.
REBECCA: How bad?
PAUL: I killed someone.
REBECCA: Oh, don't be silly.
PAUL: No, I hit him and I just left him to die in a fire.
REBECCA: If you'd done something like that you'd be in jail.
PAUL: Yeah, but I got away with it. No one knew. You see, I thought that Elle and Gail knew the worst of what I was, but they don't. Turns out nobody does, not even me! What if I've attacked other people?
Rebecca tries to convince Paul it could just be a false memory, but Paul insists the man he killed was real because it was written about in the papers, he had a family. Thinking back, Paul can also recall seeing the body lying on the ground very clearly. Rebecca wonders why he would remember that and not the birth of his children. Paul says he doesn't know and all the things Rebecca turned to him for like stability isn't something he can offer anymore. There's no future for their relationship.
Adam is in a better mood than before and wants to be a bit affectionate, but Pepper isn't up for it as he was so grumpy earlier. He claims he was just in work mode, that's all. Adam explains that at times there will be things he can't talk to her about such as hypothetically having information about a friend, relative or a neighbour. Pepper demands to know who this person is, but he doesn't budge.
ADAM: Right now, my biggest problem is I haven't had a cuddle for hours.
PEPPER: Cuddle, you say, for hours? Try days. 22 days, 14 hours and 35 minutes. But who's counting, huh?
Rebecca comes down the stairs with her bags packed, ready to leave, and Elle's following her saying she can't go. She tries to plead with Paul, but he just sits on the sofa looking sad. Elle tries to convince Rebecca to stay by reminding her that her Dad loves her, but Rebecca says she can't live in fear. She's done that for too long already. Declan comes home and wants to know if Richard is the one behind them moving. He refuses to go anywhere unless someone tells him what's going on. Rebecca tells him to grab his things and she'll explain it all in the car. Elle hands Rebecca keys to a room at Lassiter's and they hug before the Napiers leave.
Frazer and Carmella are watching TV and Pepper are eavesdropping to see if any dramas are happening. Ringo takes her into the kitchen and asks what's going on, but the guys in the living room lets them know they can be heard so they stop chatting. Carmella and Frazer exchange quick apologies and blame the fight on pregnancy hormones and missing Rosie respectively. Carmella asks if Frazer wants kids right away and he says yes and if Rosie doesn't then they'll work it out somehow. In the mean time, being an uncle is good enough for him.
Elle tells Paul that he and Rebecca are good together and he could really use her support right now. Paul reckons that's not true as Rebecca is too good for him. Elle didn't see the look of fear in Rebecca's eyes when she realised the truth about Gus's murder. Paul can't believe Elle would stay on living with him after what he's done either. Elle says as Paul is her father and she loves him, she's not going anywhere.
Declan wants to know what's happened, but Rebecca will only tell him that it's to do with something that happened in the past. He tries to convince his Mum that whatever Paul did surely it was a one-off, plus he might have changed since then. Rebecca says Richard never changed and Declan reminds her that Paul isn't Richard. She says she's changed, she's not going to put up with being afraid anymore. She and Paul are finished.
Rotunda at Lassiter's Lake
Paul's deep in thought when his mobile rings. It's Declan who's standing right behind him.
Oliver turns up after Declan called him. Rebecca says she and Paul have split up, but she's fine. She's not really up to talking about it though as she's quite tired. Oliver says he'll help her get a job organised. That won't be necessary, Rebecca says since she's already got her sights set on a job as an assistant at Toadie and Rosie's law firm. Anyway, she's got a lot to be grateful for and on the top of that list is her two beautiful boys.
Rotunda at Lassiter's Lake
Declan tells Paul that his Mum doesn't really want to end the relationship. Paul says that's not true and asks if Declan knows what he's done. Declan refuses to believe it's something bad.
DECLAN: Well if you were down with a bad mojo, then you must have changed a whole lot. You're good to Mum and you're good to me.
Paul's trying to get Adam to take him seriously, he's committed murder for heaven's sake! Given the recent brain surgery and the tragedy with Cameron, Paul's not really a reliable witness though. They can't trust the memory of a man with amnesia! The police has decided that it would be a waste of time to re-open the investigation when there's no evidence and Paul can't even say what his motive would have been!
Oliver asks Carmella how she's going with the morning sickness. She says it's been fine all week, so far at least. Oliver then wants to discuss some issues about Carmella's flat, but she denies that there's anything wrong with it. Frazer turns up and passes on the news that Carmella and Rosie's aunt died the night before. Carmella insists that it's OK since the aunt had been ill for a while. According to Frazer Rosie wants Carmella there for the funeral, so she suggests she'd better catch the next available flight to Rome then. Oliver offers to help, but she won't have any of it. Frazer volunteers to help out with the rest of the morning's deliveries to let Carmella get on with sorting out her personal stuff.
Rebecca's in the reception area and presents Diana with her CV, talking about all her skills. Toadie appears from his office and calls Diana inside. They talk about giving Rebecca a go as a secretary as Diana's instincts tell her that Ms. Napier would make a good one.
Carmella shows up with a delivery and Steph asks if she really needs to work that hard given Oliver's got money. As the subject's a bit of a sensitive one, they move on to talk about workloads instead. Carmella rejects Steph's suggestion to let Oliver contribute a bit and says she's not a charity case and the baby will always be well cared for either way. Steph says the two of them need to find a way to get along somehow, for the baby's sake. Oliver turns up and wants to continue his conversation with Carmella from before.
Toadie offers Rebecca a trial period as a secretary working a few days a week. She says she won't let him down and proceeds by showing Toadie some of the work she's done already.
Carmella tell Oliver about Frazer taking over her work while she's going to be in Italy then softens and admits she might have been a bit harsh earlier. She realises now that Oliver was just trying to help. They reach an agreement that he can help out as long as he doesn't go overboard. Carmella says she'll stay in Italy for two weeks to help the family while she's over there.
One of Toadie's clients are crying in his office and he's not sure what to do with her. Rebecca offers to talk to her while Toadie attends to some other clients. It doesn't take long for Rebecca to find out the problem the client's experiencing- her husband had an affair and she doesn't know if she can trust him anymore. Rebecca says she knows the feeling and all you can do is follow your instincts.
Paul's sitting on the sofa looking at pictures of Declan and Rebecca.
Cut back to Rebecca telling the client that time will tell whether the man she's in love with is a good man or not. Would she still be able to make it on her own without the man by her side? The most important thing is to protect yourself. Toadie comes back in and gets the low down of what the problem is. Rebecca says maybe the husband is worth a second chance.
Paul's still looking at the pictures when he hears a noise outside. Looking out through the window he sees Rebecca by the door and how she turns away and leaves without knocking.
