Doctor's office
Paul is dumfounded when a real doctor tells him that he has a benign brain tumour - an acoustic neuromas - and because it is at an advanced stage, she strongly recommends surgery to remove it. Paul wants it removed immediately and doesn't really want to know about the possible risks but she finally persists in telling him - hearing loss, facial weakness or brain damage.

PAUL: Or death?

The doc nods her head and tells him to talk to his family because he is going to need their support.

Ramsay Street
Elle is fretting about the forthcoming travel exposition but Ollie is more worried about the fact Carmella hasn't returned. She jokes that if she hasn't returned the he won't be the only person going without a date to the big corporate dinner and just as she is suggesting that they both to together, Carmella rolls up in her decorative Ute. Unlike Elle, he is glad to see her and she tells him that the tablets have been flushed down the loo and she hasn't had one in days and they are now all out of her system. She apologises for putting him through hell and he says they will do it together from now on as he kisses and hugs her while in the car Elle isn't celebrating her return.

Janelle and Janae make their way down Ramsay Street ready to go running and as they stop outside No. 30, Janelle wonders if Pepper ever called her back. Janae replies no apart from the weird call and Janelle wishes Pepper had talked to her since Steiger is away.

JANELLE: I am almost her step mum.
JANAE: Huh, that's enough to make anyone bolt! Ha-ha.
JANELLE: (running after Janae) Come back here and say that!

Scary Mary's house
Kevin is banging on the door but Mary is ignoring him and even the threat of trashing the room doesn't send her running in. Pepper tells him to stop and that she knows what they have to do.

The General Store
Paul finds Elle hiding out in the store and her initial thought is to run but he tries being sentimental with her whilst telling her that nothing can stop getting her goals but Elle interprets this as him trying to get in her good books. He is about to tell her what the doc said but she thinks he's run out of money again and gives him more out of her wallet whist reminding him what her aim for him is. "I know the value of things, more now than ever" he tells her before leaving the store.

Harold has picked up on Paul's body language and mannerisms and looks at Elle after Paul has left but she thinks her dad is just a drama queen!

HAROLD: All I saw was a man in need of help.

Elle replies that she gave Paul more than he deserves and is about to issue a tongue lashing to Paul for taping on her shoulder when it turns out that it is Ned back from panto season in Aberdeen. She asks him what he is doing back but he doesn't answer although the answer is obvious - panto season has finished!

Scary Mary's house
Mary looks though the spyhole at Pepper and Kevin getting on like a house on fire talking about things that happened when they were at school. She gets a big smile on her face when she watches Pepper cuddle up to him and say that she thought about him a lot.

The General Store
Elle is shocked to hear that Ned didn't get as far as Dan did to Aberdeen but instead stopped at Oakey and told all to brother Stuart and Stu's solution - owning up to the crimes he did.

NED: I wanted you to be the first to know. I'm turning myself into the cops.

Commercial break over and Elle is trying her best to stop Neddy from confessing all to the police not for implicate Paul but because being in jail is what has made Paul be like he currently is, and she doesn't wish to know what he would be like after another stint in prison. Ned thinks Paul is still controlling her strings but Elle says she has control over everything however he doesn't think it will work because Paul is incapable of changing. Elle doesn't agree with that and begs him to reconsider but his mind isn't for changing because he can't live with the guilt anymore.

After a brief interruption when Harold comes over for a chat, she asks him to hear her out on an idea she has on how he can clear his conscious but without involving the police.

Scary Mary's house
Kevin and Pepper continue to talk of when they were teens and how she still has feelings for him. Mary watches again from the spy hole and Pepper leans in for a kiss but Kevin hesitates so she asks him if he wants to get out or not and he must since he not submits to the kiss. They quickly break it off though when they hear Mary leave and Pepper hopes that they've given her what she wants.

No. 26
Ned has obviously confessed all as Janae and Janelle tear strips off him. Elle offers to partially compensate them since it was Paul who put Ned up to it although her explanation as to why Ned was so gullible isn't really winning him the sympathy vote.

Janae has heard enough and wants to call the police but Elle stops her to suggest another type of punishment and Ned agrees she can do anything to him including calling the police.(does he not realise it was this sort of statement to Paul that got him into this mess in the first place!)

ELLE: We know that won't do any good. Everybody knows Ned is not a bad person.
JANAE: Well your father is so why should he get off?
ELLE: Going to jail would be like a holiday for my father compared to what he's going through now.
JANELLE: By the time I've finished you, you're going to wish we put you in the big house.

Scary Mary's house
Talking about the past has opened a can of worms as Kevin and Pepper "talk" about her pregnancy and the miscarriage. Kevin apologises for what his mother has done to her as it was she who convinced him that Pepper was rotten to the core but then adds that she is an amazing person for saying that she will make sure when this is over that Mary gets all the help she needs.

Lassiter's Complex
Harold catches up with Paul to give him a food parcel and this time Paul doesn't refuse it. Paul asks Harold if he thinks of his own death and he replies that the stroke gave him a bit of a fright. He then asks Harold how he'd spend his final moments and Harold replies "surrounded by friends and family I suppose" which causes Paul to get a bit teary. Harold wonders why he asked and Paul covers by saying the fight with Elle is making him think and Harold says that he is just going through a rough patch at the moment but that it will all blow over.

Scary Mary's house
Mary enters the room to wheel in some food as a celebration for them having got back together which leads her to admit that she has been spying on them...not that they didn't know that . Pepper thanks Mary for the food and that the accompanying candles will make it all the more romantic. Kevin invites her to stay and enjoy it with them but Pepper reminds him they are grounded and Mary also rejects the offer because she is sure they've still got a lot to talk about and so leaves, locking them in again.

Kevin wants to know what that was about as they could have enticed Mary to drop her guard and escape but looks like Pepper has an idea in mind as she takes the candles from the trolley Mary brought in and places them on a table and tells Kevin to help rip up the magazines there is in the room.

The General Store
Harold quizzes Ned about his future plans but sadly they all involve him staying put. As part of his 'putting things right' plan Ned asks if he can volunteer to help with the soup kitchen and Harold tells him that he isn't involved with the Salvo's anymore.

CARMELLA: Oh my god he's back.

It's now Ollie and Carmella's turn to have a go at Neddy for what happened at the Valentine retreat. Its just not Neddy's day is it!

Scarlet Bar
Janelle is still trying to persuade Janae that they can use Ned as their personal slave, even dressing him up, instead of going to the police. Finally, Janelle calls Janae's bluff and puts her mobile phone on the table, urging her to call the police but she can't because she doesn't want to dob in a mate but also adding that she can't forgive him or be nice.

Carmella and Ollie arrive in and he is still worked up about seeing Ned but she quite likes him doing the macho stuff but their kiss is interrupted when he gets a text from Elle...who is behind them at a table in the bar . He leaves to collect the brochures for the travel exposition and Carmella goes to the bar to order their lunch.

Before she orders though, Elle takes great delight in mentioning the corporate dinner that Oliver hasn't told her about, which Carmella interprets as Oliver not saying in case she shows him up at it. Elle assures her he will want her there since he worships her and after Carmella tells her about being off the pills, Elle says that if she is tempted to go back on them, she should come and talk to her first. Carmella thanks Elle and they also clear the air about Elle's involvement in trying to split them up.

Scary Mary's house
Kevin and Pepper have finished ripping up the magazines and he is sceptical about her plan working but Pepper is sure it will work because Mary won't let anything threaten the two of them being together.

PEPPER: It's now or never.

Scarlet Bar
Ned moans to Elle that he feels he's got off to lightly but she tells him not to count his chickens just yet, Janelle will break his spirit within a week! Ollie is back from sorting out the brochures and asks Ned to leave so he can talk to Elle. He is still bemused why she is helping him and her reasoning that they were both victims isn't washing with him but he is floored when Elle lets slip that she and Ned were together. She also tells him that she told Carmella about the corporate dinner and he admits he wasn't sure whether to mention it to Carmella or not and thought they were going to it together after the chat earlier.

Scary Mary's house
Mary is out in the garden arranging some flower when she hears the smoke detector going off. She panics immediately and running as fast as she can, heads towards the house.

Inside the room, Kevin and Pepper are banging on the door saying there has been an accident and pleading for the door to be opened. From the corridor, Mary can see the smoke come under the door but she looks rather hesitant to open it despite the frantic banging and pleading as we head into the commercial break.

Commercial break over, Mary thinks she is being tricked again but she lets them out when Pepper says that she could be carrying her grandchild. Mary unlocks the door and enters the burning room and Kevin escapes but immediately collapses on the corridor floor unconscious. Bizarrely, Mary doesn't usher Pepper out but instead gathers up the baby things and sits on the bed hysterical.

In the haste to get out, the door has closed behind Kevin and Mary isn't compos mentis enough to understand that they need to get out...pronto!
