Dylan telling Sky he won't walk away from Paul.
Boyd telling Steph and Max that Ashley is no longer up for adoption.
Kayla apologises and says she loves Ashley and Boyd has made her see that and Steph says she's waited until now to say so. Max wants a word with Boyd outside as Steph tries not to cry.
Outside in the corridor, Max asks him what he is doing and reminding him he only met Kayla a month ago but Boyd says they connect. Max says that he is only 17 years old but Boyd tells his dad that this feels right.
Lyn takes a cake out of the oven to celebrate Ashley's homecoming, delirious at the thought of becoming a granny. Janelle comments on how lucky Steph as been in becoming a mum but without having to go through any of the associated baby pains and says adopting a baby is all the rage these days because of movie stars. Janae comes through to the kitchen and Janelle offers to get her breakfast, as she hasn't had anything to eat in days but all Janae wants is something to drink. Janelle says she needs more than that before she goes to school and Janae announces that she isn't going and Janelle is annoyed that she is breaking their deal. Lyn tells her that Janae behaves the same way that Flick did but it is okay, it will pass. Janelle asks Lyn how she can get her to school since she can't tie her up and take her there, so Lyn suggests a new deal – either school or go to the salon with them and make her work.
JANELLE: Oh Lyn Scully I don't like your clothes but I do like your style.
Paul's hospital room
Dylan and Sky come to see Paul and he wants to know why she is there (Dylan invited her) and tells them that if this is some scheme to get him back into teaching…but he doesn't finish his sentence. Dylan asks if there is anything he can do or does he need anything and Paul asks for a beer and a sevlaki because he's fed up of hospital food. Dylan leaves to get them and tells Sky to stay, as she is good company. Sky asks why would he want her here, Paul asks the same and adds if he's got any other ways he can torture him, so Sky decides to stay and hops onto his bed.
Boyd is telling Max that seeing Ashley being born made him realise what he feels for them both (Dylan is now listening in the background) and he's tried to get them out of his head but he can't. Max asks how he's been feeling lately and Boyd replies fine before asking why. Max says that his check-up is due but Boyd says he is fine and it has nothing to do with that; he's rational, his mind is made up and it is the right thing to do for Kayla, Ashley and for himself.
The General Store
A chirpy but late Lou appears for work and Harold is miffed because he booked a hairdresser appointment booked and wanted the morning off but Lou went and booked one too. Harold goes to cancel his appointment but Lou suggests they both take the morning off to go to the hairdresser so they can bond and become “hair brothers” and Harold gives in.
Kayla's hospital room
Steph asks Kayla when did she realise she wanted to keep her baby and she says that she always knew. Trying hard not to cry, Steph then asks why did Kayla lie last week and say the adoption could go ahead and Kayla replies that she didn't lie deliberately. Steph wants her to confirm that she really has thought it through; she has, because they'd never stand in her way of not seeing Ashley again but Kayla says it isn't like being her real mum. A few deep breaths later, Steph wonders if Boyd's offer of support changed her mind and Kayla said it made it easier.
STEPH: Are you committed to him? Do you love him?
KAYLA: Look, I know it hasn't been a big romance or anything but I've never felt so safe and protective as I do with him.
STEPH: Kayla… you're talking about diving into a life-long relationship here and you're saying you only think you love him. If you're relying on Boyd to be some kind of saviour that's a big gamble.
KAYLA: I want to keep my baby Steph, and there is this great guy telling me he wants to support me. You tell me, what else am I supposed to do?
Paul's hospital room
Paul asks a bored Sky why she isn't at school; she has 2 free periods, and then asks if she hasn't got a protest to get to instead of hanging around but she replies that she isn't going anywhere but not before reminding him that she is there for Dylan not for him. As Paul puts the magazine he's been reading down, he is suddenly in pain and Sky asks if there is anything she can do like get a nurse to bring him pain relief. Paul says he's on the maximum dose as it is so Sky says he needs to start rehab that he is refusing because he is so selfish and stubborn. Paul asks her why Dylan doesn't leave him alone and she says it is because he loves him and Paul means something to Dylan and he refuses to give up until Paul is better again. Paul replies that he'll be waiting forever then and Sky says so will Dylan but adds that he doesn't deserve Dylan.
PAUL: I never asked for his love.
SKY: No, you didn't but it will always be there and it is about time you get over yourself and give something back to him for once.
The General Store
Janae is asking if she gets paid for today. No replies Janelle because it was her choice to either go to school or work at the salon. Janae mutters that she might as well go back to school then and Janelle says there is time for her to get there until Janae says that she can't because Boyd will be there so Janelle tells her to stop moaning. Noticing Lou and Harold eating, she head over and says “morning sexy legs” and they both reply “morning” before Lou asks how she is today. Janelle replies that she is excited – Lyn is letting her loose with the scissors today and she can't wait to cut their hair. Lou and Harold look aghast and try to make their excuses but it is too late as tells them she's going to “make them look as sharp as pins, well two pins”.
Dylan comes into The General Store and asks Janae if she is still moping because of Boyd, then tells her that Boyd is going to “shack up with that Kayla chick and play daddy to her kid”. Janae thinks he is lying but he says it is true.
Kayla's hospital room
Boyd is holding Ashley when Steph and Max come into the room to say goodbye. Max asks if she's spoken to the department yet, she has and Boyd asks about them. Despondently Max says not yet but imagines that they're back on the waiting list. He then asks Boyd if he is coming home, Boyd wonders why, so Max tells him that there is a lot to talk about and he owes them that much at least. Reluctantly Boyd hands Ashley back to Kayla but not before telling her that nothing will change and leaves.
Paul's hospital room
Dylan arrives back with Paul's order minus the beer, which is in his car and the plan is for Paul to get to the beer in a wheelchair but Paul knocks this back saying he isn't keen. Dylan is shocked at this Paul wants him to drop it. Hearing enough self-pity, Sky leaves but Dylan wants to stay for a bit. Dylan hands Paul the sevlaki but Paul turns it down as he want the beer to go with it and wants Dylan's help to get to the beer but tells him to hurry before he changes his mind.
Janelle tells Janae to pick up the pace of washing the floor, as she needs towels folded before heading over to the unlucky victim of her first outing with the scissors – Lou! She goes straight into hairdresser asking mode whilst trying to strangle him with the apron. Victim number two – Harold – is complimenting Lyn on her hair washing skills and Lyn replies that she is oozing excitement and Lyn comments that she can't wait to get home to give Ashley a cuddle.
Janelle suddenly announces that has had an accident and needs a plaster, and as Lou panics she now wants a bucket because she's “got a right bleeder here”. Lou panics even more wanting to know what she has done but there is nothing wrong. Lyn ticks her off for pulling a practical joke on a customer, even if she thought Lou was a robot and needed loosening up.
Crisis over, Lyn tells Harold that she is so pleased for Steph and Max since they've been through so much and Steph will finally get to become a mum. Janae pipes up and tells her that Steph isn't going to be a mum and that she's got Boyd to thank for that.
Suitably not dressed for a visit outside the hospital, Dylan pushes an irate Paul towards the Scarlet Bar so he can get a cold beer (the stuff in his car was too warm). Whilst Dylan goes into the bar, Paul suddenly feels very self-conscious that everyone is looking at him and tries to push himself away but with one arm in plaster he doesn't get far and loudly shouts for Dylan. Dylan runs out of the bar wanting to know what is wrong and Paul screams at him to get him out.
Lyn asks Janelle to hold the fort whilst she heads home and the victims think it is their lucky day and can leave but she firmly tells them no.
Max is asking Boyd how he plans to support themselves and he doesn't know since they only decided to go ahead with their plan last night and they can sort it out later. Max says it should have been done first and Boyd thinks he is having a go at him but Max just says he's being realistic. Boyd says he is too because Kayla and him want to be together and everything else will pan out. Steph who has come into the house very quietly now decides to speak.
STEPH: For god's sake Boyd, how can you say that with a straight face?
STEPH: No Max! He's been mollycoddled all morning – it was time he was told what an *idiot* he is being. (Looks at Boyd) Because of you and your *ridiculous* fantasy, you have just destroyed my best chance of becoming a Mum - do you understand that?
BOYD: It's not a fantasy...
STEPH: Oh really? Why don't we just fast-forward into the future a bit, when you and Kayla have split up and poor little Ashley is left to wonder what it was she did wrong!
BOYD: It won't be like that...
STEPH: But if you and Kayla want to *stuff* your lives up, go ahead and do it, but I don't see why a tiny little baby should suffer BECAUSE OF YOUR STUPIDITY! (She storms off in floods of tears and does an IzzyDoorSlam™)
Boyd announces he's going back to the hospital but gets the silent treatment from Max, so he adds that the last thing he wanted to was to hurt him or Steph. Max says “I know mate” and Boyd says he's following his gut instinct in doing this and adds that is what he always tell him to do. Reluctantly Max says “yeah” before Boyd says he has to go.
Victim 1 – Lou is happy with his cut as Victim 2 – Harold is now in the hot seat when she spots his excess back hair at his neck and offers to give them both a wax to remove it. They now try to find excuses to get out of it but she's having none of it and tells them it will be painless, “kind of”. Janelle shouts on Janae to get the hot wax fired up but there is no reply and whilst Janelle goes to investigate where she's got to, the Victims make a run for it leaving their money on the table.
Dylan spots Janae at the hospital looking for Boyd, just as he arrives. She tells him that she knows of his plans and why he acted like he did with her and also remembers their conversation about him wanting to be a dad – she didn't think it would be this soon though before telling him he'll make a great dad. Boyd thanks her but Janae adds that he doesn't love Kayla and if he does this it will be a huge mistake. He tells her that he knows what he is doing and adds that even if he is wrong it will be his mistake not hers.
Lyn show an upset Steph in and says that Boyd (and Kayla) will come to their senses; it is only a matter of time.
STEPH: (sobs) I really wish I could believe that. Why won't the world let me have a baby? Mum I'd be so good at it...
LYN: You will have a baby.
STEPH: (sobs) No.
LYN: No, no, you will eventually, you will.
STEPH: (breaks down) No - I'm so sick of hearing that! I won't! (Breaks down even more).
