Janelle returns, much to Stingray's shock
Carmella is horrfied when Toadie tells her Creepy Frank will porably get bail
Karl having a heart attack and managing to call an ambulance
Lonely Winding Road…
Struggling for breath and energy, having already called the ambulance – he finds the strength to pick up his Siemens and ring…Susan.
KARL: I'm lying here and all I want to say…hear your voice and tell you I love you. You've been my best friend, Susan…and…and our life together and our family is more than I deserve.
Susan gets very teary and wants him to save his strength, but he continues on that she'll be alright and he loves her. Next, gives Izzy a ring…unfortunately, Miss Isabel is still ticked off and lets the call be diverted to voice mail.
KARL: Izzy, it's me. It's Karl, I'm having a heart attack. I don't have…the last time we spoke we were fighting. I just, I just want you to be happy, just let somebody love you.
He then collapses.
What's Serena doing under the table? Apparently, looking for “scabby” for Dylan and Stingray's flicking game – she's thoroughly disgusted when she realises what it is though. The boys reminisce about the time their dad played the game and had to “improvise” by stealing a Jaffa from Bree's ice-cream…Janelle, having overheard this – corrects Dylan, saying it was Scotty's idea. Stingray tries to brush it off, but Janelle insists it was his idea. Moving on – Dylan nudges her, wanting to know what they'll be doing for her birthday tomorrow, or what she wants. She laughs, saying if she were a rich girl….(na na na na na na…) - a nice piece of jewellery wouldn't go unwanted. As soon as she leaves, Dylan jumps up – he's going to buy something “sparkly” and will even sell his car if he has too!
“Spiggin huffa” Stingray mumbles to Serena. Dylan doesn't BUY expensive jewellery…that's how he wound up in Juvie in the first place.
Lonely Winding Road…
Whirling ambulances sounds…because the ambos have arrived to Karl's rescue.
House of Trouser
Getting off the phone from Toadie, Connor spills the bad news. Frank has definitely gotten bail and there's nothing they can do. Carmella is on high-freak out mode – this bit of paper won't save them!! Connor calmly suggests they just “disappear” for a while…he knows just the place – Toadie's Uncle Barry has a little place outside Colac. They hurry to get ready.
Lonely Winding Road…
Working in the ambulance – the two ambos get working on Karl, charging at 200! … the electrical jolts don't work, so they administer CPR. Sound of them pumping Karl's chest which leads us into Karl's dream…
At the Kennedy's, Karl's busy sharpening the roast knives, while Susan gets off the phone. She says that Libby and Drew will pick up Billy and Anne…and Mal and Catherine will take a taxi. He compliments her on the roast – well, she does know how much he loves the lamb…Karl shushes her, not in front of Cassie! (who is standing in the living room)
KARL: There's no where else in the world I'd rather be.
The light flickers, which strikes them both as rather odd. Karl goes to check – as he opens the door there is a gush of white light…
The ambos charge Karl's heart and again and halleluiah! They get a rhythm and a pulse. Karl is ALIVE!
Dylan flops down on the couch, annoyed he'd get so little for his car. It's afterall, a supercharged, top of the line car, WORTHY of more. (sorry, car technical specs went way over my head). Stingray says he could maybe get a cheaper ring…but Serena laughs that one from the gumball machine might do.
Stingray sighs, then agrees Janelle deserves something great this year…Janelle only overhears this part and gives her Scotty a big old kiss. He quickly straightens it out – it was Dylan who wanted to get her something fancy this year. She is immediately suspicious, but is saved by his mobile…it's Paul and he has a job for him
Uncle Barry's Cottage
Nice shot of the cottage, it's rather rustic and small looking, but in the countryside. Carmella is worried they were tagged, but Connor assures her no one knows they're here. Heading inside, Carmella once again jumps as a creaking noise, but it's only the wind playing tricks. Connor is adamant this is just a temporary solution until Toadie figures more out. He teasingly suggests she go start cleaning up the kitchen and tickles her. They both freeze when they notice a shot gun propped against the wall.
Susan runs in…asking some nurses if Karl has been admitted. Then Izzy runs in and also asks if Karl has been admitted. The doctor lets them know Karl's condition is very serious, but first she needs to know if Mrs Kennedy is here. Susan immediately says she is – but Izzy butts in that SHE is his defacto wife. Susan just gives her the evil eye and cannot believe her nerve. They're about to get into another fight before the doctor orders them to stop it – one of them just needs to figure out his insurance first. Izzy goes to the nurse, but Susan defiantly tells her she has a right to be here.
Uncle Barry's Cottage
While Connor is chopping wood, Carmella surprises him as she found some real coffee for them to make. He tries to kiss her, but again brushes him off. She begins talking about Frank – not understanding what she did – it should be Frank running away. Connor consoles her, it'll be okay as Frank will get what he deserves. Carmella is certain he'll end up getting off and then who will stop him?
CONNOR: I will. I will, with my manly muscles and my enormous brain and my deadly charm and wit!
Aw. More seriously though, Connor won't let anything happen to her. He goes back to chop the wood (like manly man) and she goes back to make their coffee…not before eyeing the shotgun,
Marvelling at how the cooking spray makes the cake tin dish shiny…Janelle doesn't hear Serena when it's suggested they make a chocolate mud cake. Janelle is uncertain and wants to take a look at the packet – but Serena says it's her mother's favourite recipe. They'll do it from scratch, it'll take longer but it'll be so much better.
Meanwhile in the lounge, Dylan is about to go do a job but can't find his car keys. Stingray is worried about what kind of job involves a baseball bat – but Dylan assures him it'll all legit. Paul called and asked him to “talk” to some squatters in a house. A lady (friend of his grands) wants to buy it, but can't really…he's just helping out a lady. Stingray tries to go along, but Dylan won't hear of it – he doesn't want to split the cash!
The doctor comes out, telling Susan and Izzy that Karl is now stable and they can see him. They need to remember he's in a fragile state…“try not to upset him with any of your bitterness” Izzy snipes. Susan stays back…as long as she knows he's okay she doesn't need to see him now. Thus, Izzy goes in and immediately tells Karl how glad she is he's okay. When she heard his last breath, saying he loved her…knowing now it's her Karl wants they're gonna be okay. Susan oversees this exchange.
Susan finishes getting off the phone to Libby – she asks if she can also call Billy and Mal as she doesn't want to tie up the phone here. Sitting down, Izzy apologies to her…
IZZY: I feel like I've been terrible to you and I've said things that I probably didn't mean. I hurt you and Karl, so I'm sorry.
She accepts the apology, but Izzy goes on. She thinks her anger came from her own insecurities, how could she compete with Susan's history? Susan says it was never a competition…but Izzy says it was for her. Though now, she doesn't need to hang onto him, as he is. The doctor comes out of Karl's room and she tells them he's regained consciousness and they can go see him. Izzy about to go in, but lets Susan go in instead.
Susan places her hand on Karl's head, stroking it and Karl smiles as he knows it's Susan. He tries to say he called her, but Susan says it doesn't matter…he just needs to get better now.
Janelle and Serena are very proud of their cooking, as they should be!
Dylan waltzes back in, grinning. A lady now has a house and he picked up some bling-bling…voila, taking out a shiny silver ring, with some small gems set in it. Janelle and Serena come in, so Stingray hides it behind his back…he and Dylan trying to look oh-so innocent. Janelle doesn't fall for it though…so Stinger has to hand it over. She opens it up and is ecstatic, thanking Stingray immensely…but he says that it was Dylan's doing. He paid for it from a well earned honest job and everything. Janelle tries the ring on and Stingray congratulates her on it. Dylan just looks at her and finally asks whether she's going to say thank you to him?
She's not sure what he means and tries to walk away…so Dylan keeps going on – how come she's never nice to him? Can't she say “I love you” or act like it, even if she doesn't? How come everyone else, including their other brothers get treated well, while he just keeps getting ignored? What's wrong with him?
Janelle finally snaps that Dylan is exactly like their dad, always disappointing her and letting her down.
JANELLE: You're exactly like him and I can't stand the sight of you.
Uncle Barry's Cottage
Manly Connor has arrived back at the cottage, bearing the wood he chopped on his own! He keeps calling out her name, but there's no answer. Into the kitchen, he notices the shot gun missing…
Flash to outside and Carmella is starting up the car. Connor runs out and reaches her, but she won't stop and races out of there.
